We had an amazing experience renting this camper van for the weekend! The van was clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It easily carried all of our gear, including a cooler and fishing poles, with plenty of room to spare. It truly had all the comforts of home—and more. From the kitchen essentials to the camping accessories, everything was provided, making our trip easy and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly show us how to operate the van and explained all of its features and accessories before we left. His attention to detail and willingness to answer our questions made us feel confident and well prepared for our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. If you’re looking for a well-equipped camper van and an owner who genuinely cares about his renters, we highly recommend renting from Mark. We would definitely rent from him again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Dumont, NJ
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Dumont, NJ?
An RV rental in Dumont is one of the smartest ways to explore the New York metro region without paying Manhattan hotel rates. On RVezy, travel trailers typically run $90 to $180 per night, campervans land around $150 to $250, and larger Class A or Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $400 per night depending on age and amenities. To save, book midweek, target shoulder seasons like late April or October, and use the price filter to sort by budget. Pro tip: a motorhome rental Dumont travelers love is one that fits a Bergen County driveway, so you can ease into your trip from home.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Dumont,%20New%20JerseyWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Dumont, NJ?
A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Dumont. New Jersey does not require a special license or Commercial Driver License (CDL) for recreational vehicles under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every rental on RVezy, from campervans to Class A motorhomes. You'll also need to be 25 or older as an approved driver, and RVezy verifies your identification through the platform during booking, so there's no extra DMV trip. Visiting from abroad? Bring your valid home license, and an International Driving Permit if your license is not in English. First time renting an RV? Most guests are surprised how familiar a Class C feels behind the wheel, basically a tall van.

Booking is low-risk. RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy for every RV rental in Dumont, so you get the same fair, transparent terms across every listing. There's a money-back grace period right after booking, and additional flexibility based on how far in advance you cancel. Full details are in your booking confirmation and the RVezy Help Center. Yes, RV delivery in Dumont is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather not drive a motorhome through Bergen County traffic. Many local hosts will deliver and set up the RV at your campground, your driveway, or a nearby park, then walk you through every system: water, propane, slide-outs, and the generator. Filter listings by Delivery to see hosts who offer it, plus their delivery radius and fee, which often covers nearby spots like Harriman State Park or Liberty State Park. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer if your destination is Cape May or the Catskills, you skip the driving and start vacation on arrival.

The best campgrounds near Dumont include Campgaw Mountain Reservation in Mahwah (about 20 miles north, with rustic sites in Bergen County), Harriman State Park's Beaver Pond Campground in New York (about 40 miles, with hiking trails and lakes), Cheesequake State Park in Matawan (about 55 miles, the closest state park with RV-friendly sites), Worthington State Forest along the Delaware Water Gap (about 75 miles, riverside sites), and Black Bear Campground in Florida, NY (about 45 miles, full hookups and family-friendly). Pro tip: for RV camping Dumont locals love, book Harriman early, summer weekends fill up fast.
parks.ny.gov/parks/145/details.aspxWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Dumont, NJ?
You can RV from Dumont nearly year-round, but late April through late October is the sweet spot. May and June bring 60 to 80 degree days and blooming trails in Harriman. July and August are peak summer, with humid 80 to 90 degree temps, perfect for Jersey Shore beach runs. September and October are the local insider's pick: 50 to 75 degrees, dry air, and unbeatable foliage in the Catskills and Delaware Water Gap. Winter (December to March) drops to 20 to 40 degrees, but four-season RVs with heated tanks make ski trips to the Poconos a blast. Book early for fall weekends, leaf-peeping demand is real.
weather.gov/okx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay picking one up in Dumont?
You'll do great, first time renting an RV is easier than it looks. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, hookups, the fridge, propane, slides, and waste tanks, usually 30 to 60 minutes. You can message the host any time before your trip with questions, and you'll have 24/7 roadside assistance available. If Bergen County roads make you nervous, request delivery so you start your trip already parked at the campground. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or travel trailer for your first rental. They drive like a large van and feel familiar within the first 20 minutes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I have a breakdown or roadside issue during my Dumont RV trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance through the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on the Garden State Parkway, a dead battery at Liberty State Park, or run out of fuel heading to the Catskills, help is one call away. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app, most are happy to troubleshoot small issues like a finicky generator or a tripped breaker. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of your RV's tire pressure sticker and propane tank location at pickup, it speeds up any roadside call.

Yes, traveling across state lines is normal for an RV rental Dumont guests book, hop over to New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, or down to Virginia without any extra paperwork. Cross-border travel into Canada is sometimes allowed but depends on the host and the protection plan, so confirm with your host before booking and bring your passport. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Popular interstate routes from Dumont include the Finger Lakes (250 miles), the Berkshires (140 miles), and Shenandoah National Park (320 miles). Pro tip: message the host with your full itinerary before booking for smooth approval and zero surprises.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for an RV trip from Dumont?
Budgeting fuel is simple once you know the basics. Campervans and Class B rentals get 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 mpg, Class A rigs run 7 to 10 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 15 mpg combined). Gas in Bergen County typically runs near the New Jersey state average, and remember, in New Jersey, attendants pump your fuel for you, no self-serve. For a weekend trip from Dumont to Harriman and back (about 80 miles), figure roughly $25 to $50 in gas depending on rig. Pro tip: check current pump prices before crossing into New York, where fuel taxes can differ.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Dumont?
Book sooner than you think, especially for summer. New York state parks like Harriman and Bear Mountain open reservations 9 months out through ReserveAmerica, and the best waterfront sites at Beaver Pond sell out quickly for July and August weekends. New Jersey state parks use the NJ State Park Service reservation system and also open about 9 months in advance. For private RV parks like Black Bear Campground, 2 to 3 months ahead is usually safe. Last-minute? Try midweek nights, you'll often find openings even in peak season. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the 9-month-out date to grab prime fall foliage weekends in the Catskills.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Dumont and Bergen County?
Dumont sits in a dense suburban grid, so plan your departure for off-peak hours: before 7 a.m. or after 10 a.m., and avoid 4 to 7 p.m. on weekdays. The George Washington Bridge and Lincoln Tunnel have height restrictions and tolls, most Class C motorhomes and travel trailers are fine, but check your RV height before routing. The Palisades Interstate Parkway prohibits commercial vehicles and trailers, so use I-87 or Route 17 north instead. Winters bring occasional snow and salt, summers can mean thunderstorms. Pro tip: route through the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge (formerly Tappan Zee) heading north, it's RV-friendly and bypasses NYC traffic entirely.

Campgrounds near Dumont range from full-hookup resorts to rustic state park sites, so you can pick your comfort level. Private parks like Black Bear Campground offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. New York state park campgrounds (Harriman, Bear Mountain) typically offer electric and water at many sites with central dump stations included. New Jersey's Cheesequake and Worthington State Forest offer electric and water at select sites. Need to dump or fill water mid-trip? Most New Jersey state parks and many highway rest areas on the Garden State Parkway have dump stations. Pro tip: check Sanidumps.com before you roll out, you'll always know where the next dump is.

Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often add a generator, outdoor TV, awning, and rooftop solar. Wi-Fi varies by host, many offer a mobile hotspot as an add-on. Each listing's amenity list is clearly displayed on RVezy, so filter by what matters: pet-friendly, generator, sleeps 6, and more. Pro tip: confirm linens and a kitchen kit are included or available as add-ons, it's the difference between an easy trip and a last-minute store run.

Hosts in Dumont offer a flexible menu of add-ons to customize your trip. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Dumont,%20New%20JerseyHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: when you book your RV rental in Dumont, RVezy charges your card through the platform, never directly to the host. You'll see the full breakdown (nightly rate, fees, taxes, protection) before you confirm. Security deposits are separate from your booking payment and held as a pre-authorization hold, typically released after your trip if there are no damages or violations. To avoid issues, do a thorough video walkaround with the host at pickup and dropoff, document everything, and respect the mileage and pet rules. Pro tip: review the deposit amount on the listing upfront so you can plan your card limits.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs a cheap RV rental in Dumont actually possible, and how do I find one?
Yes, a cheap RV rental in Dumont is very doable if you know where to look. Travel trailers are the most affordable choice, starting around $75 to $100 per night, especially when paired with a host who offers delivery so you don't need a tow vehicle. Use the price filter on RVezy, sort low-to-high, and target shoulder seasons (April, May, September, October) when nightly rates can drop 20 to 30 percent. Smaller campervan rental Dumont options are also budget-friendly on fuel. Pro tip: book Sunday to Thursday for the biggest savings, and message hosts about weekly discounts, many knock 10 to 15 percent off five-plus night trips.
