We had an amazing experience renting this camper van for the weekend! The van was clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It easily carried all of our gear, including a cooler and fishing poles, with plenty of room to spare. It truly had all the comforts of home—and more. From the kitchen essentials to the camping accessories, everything was provided, making our trip easy and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly show us how to operate the van and explained all of its features and accessories before we left. His attention to detail and willingness to answer our questions made us feel confident and well prepared for our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. If you’re looking for a well-equipped camper van and an owner who genuinely cares about his renters, we highly recommend renting from Mark. We would definitely rent from him again!

What license do I need to rent an RV in Floral Park, New York?

Good news: a standard Class D driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Floral Park for nearly every rig on RVezy. New York only requires an R endorsement for motorhomes with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of rentals (campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers) fall well below that. You also need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your identity right through the platform. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're ready to roll.

Yes. RV delivery in Floral Park is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a big win if you are nervous about driving a large rig through Nassau County. When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Floral Park?

Late spring through early fall is prime time for RV camping in Floral Park and across Long Island. May and June bring 65 to 78 degree days and blooming gardens, July and August peak at 80 to 88 degrees (perfect for the South Shore beaches), and September and October cool to the 60s and 70s with stunning foliage and far fewer crowds. I've never driven an RV before. How do I prepare for my first trip from Floral Park?

You've got this, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host provides a complete walkthrough at pickup, covering driving tips, the generator, slide outs, water and waste tanks, and propane. For first timers in Floral Park, a Class B campervan rental in Floral Park or a small Class C is the easiest to maneuver through Nassau County streets. Avoid the Northern State and Southern State Parkways (no commercial vehicles or RVs allowed) and stick to the Long Island Expressway (I-495) or Sunrise Highway (Route 27). Pro tip: do a parking lot lap before you leave, and ask your host to show you how to back in. You'll feel confident in minutes.

What happens if my RV breaks down during my trip?

Your host is also your first line of support for questions about specific systems in their RV. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave Floral Park. Quick access turns a hiccup into a minor detour.

Can I take my Floral Park RV rental into Canada or other states?

Cross-border and interstate travel from Floral Park is doable with the right prep. You can drive your RV rental into Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, and beyond. Travel into Canada (think Niagara Falls, Ontario, or Montreal) may be allowed depending on the host and insurance coverage, so message the host before booking to confirm and get written approval. One firm rule: travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: bring a passport or enhanced driver's license for the Canadian border, and ask your host for a Vehicle Authorization Letter.

What should I budget for fuel on a Floral Park RV trip?

Fuel is usually the second biggest line item after the rental itself, so it's worth planning. Long Island gas prices typically run about 30 to 50 cents above the national average, so check GasBuddy or AAA before you fill up. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes come in around 7 to 10 MPG. A 220 mile round trip from Floral Park to Montauk in a Class C will run roughly $80 to $100 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in New Jersey before heading home, where gas is consistently cheaper than New York.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Floral Park?

Book early to lock in the best sites. New York State Parks campgrounds like Heckscher, Wildwood, and Hither Hills open reservations up to nine months in advance through the official New York State Parks reservation system, and Hither Hills oceanfront sites in Montauk sell out within minutes of release for summer weekends. For options like Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage or Indian Island County Park in Riverhead, aim for at least two to three months out. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, target Sunday through Thursday nights or shoulder season weekends. You will often find availability when peak weekends look booked solid.

What are the driving conditions like around Floral Park?

Floral Park sits right on the Nassau-Queens border, so you'll need to plan your RV route carefully. The most important rule: RVs and commercial vehicles are banned from New York's parkways (Northern State, Southern State, Grand Central, Cross Island, and Belt Parkway) because of low bridges, some under 8 feet. Stick to the Long Island Expressway (I-495), Sunrise Highway (Route 27), or Northern Boulevard (Route 25A). Traffic is heaviest weekday rush hours and Friday afternoons heading east toward the Hamptons. Pro tip: leave Floral Park before 7 a.m. or after 8 p.m. on summer Fridays to skip the bumper-to-bumper crawl on the LIE.

Wildwood State Park offers electric sites plus water fill stations, and Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage provides full hookups including sewer at select sites. Most state parks have potable water spigots throughout the loop and a central dump station for emptying your gray and black tanks before checkout. Pro tip: if you're heading to Montauk's Hither Hills, note that sites are electric-only (no sewer), so plan to dump on the way home at the central station near the park exit.

Many listings include extras like outdoor grills, bikes, or beach gear. How does payment and the security deposit work for my Floral Park RV rental?

Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform when you book using a credit card or accepted payment method, and the funds are held until your trip starts before being released to the host. A refundable security deposit is also placed on your card before pickup. The exact amount is set per listing and is clearly shown during checkout. As long as you return the RV on time, clean, with the same fuel level, and without damage, your deposit is released back to you after the trip. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a short video walk-around of the RV at both pickup and return. It is the easiest way to avoid any disputes on your Floral Park RV trip.

Where can I park overnight in or near Floral Park if I'm not at a campground?

Here's the honest scoop on where to park an RV in Floral Park: New York City strictly limits commercial vehicles (which includes RVs and campervans) to 24 hours on city streets, and overnight street parking on residential blocks is prohibited between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Floral Park itself is a small village with similar restrictions, so plan to stay at a campground or RV park rather than on the street. Skyline RV Camp in Greenpoint, Brooklyn (about 15 miles west) is the only RV park inside NYC, and Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City is another close option. Pro tip: for a true overnight on Long Island, book Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage, only 15 minutes from Floral Park.
