We had an amazing experience renting this camper van for the weekend! The van was clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It easily carried all of our gear, including a cooler and fishing poles, with plenty of room to spare. It truly had all the comforts of home—and more. From the kitchen essentials to the camping accessories, everything was provided, making our trip easy and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly show us how to operate the van and explained all of its features and accessories before we left. His attention to detail and willingness to answer our questions made us feel confident and well prepared for our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. If you’re looking for a well-equipped camper van and an owner who genuinely cares about his renters, we highly recommend renting from Mark. We would definitely rent from him again!

What license do I need to rent an RV in Mineola?

A regular New York driver's license, or any valid US or Canadian license, is all you need to rent an RV in Mineola. There is no special RV endorsement or commercial driver's license required for the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers you will find on RVezy. You must be at least 25 years old, and RVezy will verify your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? What if I need to cancel my Mineola RV trip?

You can book with confidence: RVezy sets the cancellation policy that applies to every RV rental in Mineola, including a grace-period window after booking. The exact refund amount depends on how far out you cancel relative to your trip start date. Hosts do not set the cancellation terms, RVezy does, which keeps things consistent and fair across every listing. Pro tip: if a nor'easter is forecast or a tropical storm is heading toward the Atlantic coast, reach out to RVezy support early so we can help you reschedule or rebook your Long Island RV trip.

Where can I camp with an RV near Mineola?

You have some excellent campgrounds within an hour of Mineola. Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage (about 12 miles east) is the closest, with full hookups and easy access to the Long Island Expressway. Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach (about 15 miles south) puts you right next to the Atlantic, though you will need a Nassau County Leisure Pass to book. Heckscher State Park in East Islip (about 35 miles east) offers shaded sites along the Great South Bay, and Wildwood State Park in Wading River (about 50 miles east) has 600 acres of woods on Long Island Sound. When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Mineola?

Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping in Mineola, with average daytime highs ranging from the upper 60s F in May to the mid 80s F in July and August, and back down to the 60s F by October. July and August are peak beach weather but also peak demand. September and early October are the local insider's secret: warm Atlantic water, fewer crowds at Jones Beach, and the start of harvest season at North Fork wineries. Winter rentals are also available for getaways to ski country or warmer southern routes. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season Long Island RV trip and you will likely score better nightly rates too.

I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?

You will be just fine, and most RVezy renters in Mineola are first-timers. Every host gives you a full orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, the generator, water systems, and the propane setup so nothing is a mystery. You can also message the host before booking with any questions, and RVezy support is available 24/7 throughout your trip. For first time renting an RV near Mineola, a Class C motorhome (around 25 to 28 feet) or a Class B campervan is the easiest to drive, since they handle similar to a large van. Pro tip: avoid driving in Manhattan and stick to the Northern State, Southern State, or Long Island Expressway for the smoothest ride east.

What happens if I have a breakdown or flat tire on the road?

You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on the Meadowbrook Parkway or a dead battery at a Montauk campground is just a phone call away from being solved. The roadside team can dispatch tire service, jump-starts, fuel delivery, or a tow to a nearby shop. You will also have direct contact info for your host and the RVezy support team. Pro tip: snap a photo of your RV's roadside assistance card and license plate at pickup, and save the numbers in your phone before you head out toward the Hamptons or North Fork.

Can I take my Mineola RV rental to other states or into Canada?

Yes, an RV road trip from Mineola can absolutely cross state lines. Popular routes head north into Connecticut and the Berkshires via the Bridgeport to Port Jefferson Ferry, west through New Jersey to the Poconos, or up the Hudson Valley toward the Adirondacks. Many hosts also allow trips into Canada (think Niagara Falls or Montreal), but you must confirm in advance because insurance coverage on the protection plan needs to be valid cross-border. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Pro tip: message the host through the listing page before booking and share your planned route so they can approve it and flag any toll-road or low-bridge tips.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Mineola RV trip?

Fuel is one of the more predictable parts of your budget. Class B campervans get roughly 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes get 6 to 10 MPG. Gas prices in the Mineola area typically run a bit above the national average, so plan around $3.50 to $4.25 per gallon. A round trip from Mineola to Montauk (about 200 miles total) in a Class C will cost roughly $70 to $90 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up off Long Island when possible (New Jersey or upstate NY gas is often cheaper) and use the GasBuddy app to find the best prices along your route.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground for my Mineola RV trip?

Reserve as early as you can: Long Island campgrounds fill up fast, and most allow bookings up to nine months in advance through the New York State Parks reservation system (powered by ReserveAmerica). For summer weekends at Heckscher State Park, Hither Hills in Montauk, or Wildwood State Park in Wading River, plan to book the moment the nine-month window opens. Nassau County's Battle Row Campground and Nickerson Beach are booked through Nassau County Parks directly, and Suffolk County parks like Cedar Point and Indian Island have their own system. Pro tip: lock in your campground first, then book your RV rental in Mineola on RVezy around those dates for a stress-free family RV trip.

What are Mineola roads and traffic like for driving an RV?

Driving an RV in and out of Mineola is very manageable when you plan around traffic. Stick to the Long Island Expressway (I-495), Northern State Parkway (cars and small RVs only, no commercial vehicles or large rigs), Southern State Parkway (same restriction), or the Cross Island and Meadowbrook Parkways for local hops. Important: New York's parkways have low bridge clearances (some as low as 7 to 9 feet) and prohibit RVs and trailers, so larger Class A and Class C motorhomes must use the LIE or Sunrise Highway instead. Avoid weekday rush hours (7 to 10 AM and 4 to 7 PM). Pro tip: leave Mineola early Saturday morning to beat beach traffic heading to the Hamptons.
dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/oom/transportation-systems/repository/2024TruckBkfin1.htm

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Mineola?

Long Island campgrounds offer a solid mix of amenities. Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage and Nickerson Beach in Lido Beach both offer 30/50-amp electric, water hookups, dump stations, restrooms, and hot showers. State parks like Heckscher and Wildwood typically have electric and water at most sites, plus dump stations, picnic tables, fire rings, and flush toilets. For fresh water fill-ups and dumping mid-trip, Heckscher State Park has a public dump station accessible to registered campers. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, a sewer hose with elbow, and a surge protector, since the older shore-power pedestals at some Long Island campgrounds can be inconsistent.
parks.ny.gov/parks/153/details.aspx

What is included inside a typical RV rental in Mineola?

You will be comfortable from the first night. Most motorhome rentals in Mineola come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or sofa beds, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, plus a bathroom with shower and toilet. Air conditioning, furnace heat, and a propane system are standard. Many listings also include a generator, outdoor awning, leveling jacks, seatbelted seating for the whole family, and even a TV. Wi-Fi is offered by some hosts; otherwise plan to use your phone hotspot. Pro tip: review the listing's amenities list carefully and message the host with any must-haves (like a roof-top AC or bike rack) before you book.

What add-ons and pickup options are available for my Mineola RV?

Hosts in Mineola offer a great range of add-ons to customize your trip. Common extras include kitchen kits, bedding and linen packages, camp chairs and tables, bike racks, generators (if not standard), portable propane fire pits, and even paddleboards or kayaks. Mileage policies typically range from 100 free miles per night up to unlimited, and most hosts charge $0.30 to $0.50 per extra mile. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Mineola, Garden City, or nearby towns like Westbury or Hicksville, but delivery to your campsite or home is widely available. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking instead of asking at pickup, since hosts pack the RV based on what you reserved.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure. When you book an RV rental in Mineola, RVezy charges your card for the rental total plus taxes and the service fee, and the refundable security deposit is held separately before your trip. The deposit amount is set by the host and typically ranges from $500 to $1,500 depending on the size and value of the RV. As long as you return the RV on time, undamaged, with the agreed fuel level, and following the host's mileage and cleanliness policies, the hold is released after the trip. Pro tip: take timestamped photos and a short video at pickup and drop-off to keep your security deposit process smooth.
