We had an amazing experience renting this camper van for the weekend! The van was clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It easily carried all of our gear, including a cooler and fishing poles, with plenty of room to spare. It truly had all the comforts of home—and more. From the kitchen essentials to the camping accessories, everything was provided, making our trip easy and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly show us how to operate the van and explained all of its features and accessories before we left. His attention to detail and willingness to answer our questions made us feel confident and well prepared for our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. If you’re looking for a well-equipped camper van and an owner who genuinely cares about his renters, we highly recommend renting from Mark. We would definitely rent from him again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Uniondale, NY

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Uniondale, NY?

RV rental in Uniondale is more affordable than many travelers expect, with typical nightly rates running from about $95 for compact travel trailers to $250 or more for larger Class A and Class C motorhomes. Because Uniondale sits in Nassau County, just 25 miles east of Manhattan, owners often price competitively to stand out in the busy Long Island market. To find a cheap RV rental in Uniondale, travel midweek, book in the shoulder months of April, May, or October, and look for listings with generous included mileage. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and compare delivery fees, since some hosts include free delivery within a set radius which can save you a Hofstra-area pickup trip.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Uniondale, New York?

Good news: a regular New York State or out-of-state driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Uniondale. There's no special RV endorsement or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required for the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers on RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens through the RVezy platform after you book. Visiting from abroad for a Long Island RV trip? What protection is included when I rent an RV in Uniondale?

Every RVezy booking in Uniondale comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built in, so you can hit the Long Island Expressway with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose the coverage level that fits your comfort at checkout. This isn't traditional auto insurance, but it provides substantial financial protection so a small mishap on the Meadowbrook Parkway service road doesn't ruin your vacation. Pro tip: if you're a first-time renter or planning a longer Long Island RV trip out to Montauk, upgrading to a higher protection tier costs only a few extra dollars per night and makes the whole experience genuinely worry-free.

What if I need to cancel my Uniondale RV rental?

You're not locked in the moment you click book. RVezy sets a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy (hosts don't set their own), which includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you have time to reconsider. After that, your refund depends on how far out from your trip you cancel, and RVezy also factors in special situations like severe weather, which matters on Long Island during hurricane and nor'easter season. Pro tip: book your Uniondale RV early to lock in the best rigs for Hamptons weekends or Belmont Stakes week, knowing you have flexibility if plans shift. You can review the full policy details on the RVezy Help Center or reach customer support before confirming.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Uniondale?

Yes, Long Island is one of the most dog-friendly RV destinations on the East Coast. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Uniondale, toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings where dogs are welcome. Once you're rolling, leashed dogs are allowed at Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach (seasonal rules apply), on the Long Beach boardwalk during off-season hours, and on the trails at Bethpage State Park just north of Uniondale. Heckscher State Park and Wildwood State Park both allow leashed pets in designated camping areas. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and let them know your dog's size, most Uniondale hosts are very accommodating.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Uniondale instead of me picking it up?

Yes, RV delivery in Uniondale is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who'd rather not drive a 30-foot motorhome through Nassau County traffic on day one. Many hosts will deliver and set up the RV at your campground, driveway, or event location, whether that's a tailgate at UBS Arena, a family gathering in Eisenhower Park, or a campsite at Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage. Filter for Delivery on RVezy and review each host's delivery radius and fee. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer for Hamptons trips, the host drops the RV at Hither Hills State Park in Montauk so you skip the 100-mile drive entirely.

How far can I drive on a Uniondale RV rental, and is unlimited mileage available?

You've got plenty of road ahead of you. Most Uniondale hosts include between 100 and 150 free miles per night, with additional miles typically running $0.30 to $0.50 each, and some listings offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for longer New England loops. From Uniondale, popular drives include Montauk Point at the tip of Long Island (about 100 miles east), the Catskills (around 130 miles northwest), Cape Cod (roughly 240 miles), the Adirondacks (about 280 miles), and Niagara Falls (around 410 miles). Pro tip: if you're planning a one-week Long Island loop hitting the North Fork wineries and Montauk, 700 to 800 total miles is a realistic budget, so look for a host whose package matches that.

Where are the best campgrounds near Uniondale for RV camping?

You're spoiled for choice with RV camping near Uniondale. Top picks include Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage (about 15 minutes north, with electric hookups, showers, and sports fields), Nickerson Beach Campground in Lido Beach (oceanfront sites about 20 minutes south), Heckscher State Park in East Islip (about 45 minutes east with electric hookups), Wildwood State Park in Wading River (about 60 miles east on Long Island Sound), and Hither Hills State Park in Montauk (about 100 miles east with beachfront RV sites). Pro tip: Nickerson Beach books up fast for summer weekends, snag your spot the moment the reservation window opens, and pair it with an oceanfront sunrise walk on Lido Beach.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Uniondale?

Late May through mid-October is prime RV season around Uniondale, with the sweet spots being June and September: warm beach days, fewer crowds, and easier campground availability. Summer highs sit around 82 to 85 F (28 to 29 C) with humid afternoons, while spring and fall hover in the comfortable 55 to 72 F (13 to 22 C) range. Winters can be cold (highs in the 35 to 42 F range with occasional snow), so many hosts pause rentals from December through March, though some winterized rigs stay available. Pro tip: book a mid-September Hamptons trip, the ocean is still warm from summer, the South Fork wineries are harvesting, and rates drop noticeably after Labor Day.

I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay renting in Uniondale?

You'll do great, and you won't be on your own. Every Uniondale host gives a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering propane, the generator, slide-outs, leveling, and dump procedures, so even a first-time renter leaves feeling confident. If you're nervous about navigating Nassau County's parkways (which ban RVs due to low bridges), book a smaller Class B campervan or have the host deliver the rig straight to your campground. The RVezy support team is also reachable if you have a question mid-trip. Pro tip: ask your host for a quick parking-and-backing demo before you leave the driveway, ten minutes of practice in a quiet Uniondale lot pays off for the whole trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirements

What happens if my RV breaks down during my trip from Uniondale?

You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on the Long Island Expressway, a dead battery at Jones Beach, or an engine issue heading up I-95 to Connecticut, one phone call brings help. The roadside team handles towing, tire changes, jump-starts, lockouts, and fuel delivery. Your host is also a quick text away for any RV-specific quirks (like a tricky water pump or awning), and RVezy customer support backs the whole thing up. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Uniondale, and snap a photo of your RV's VIN and license plate, it speeds up dispatch if you ever need help on the road.

Can I take a Uniondale RV rental on a road trip out of New York State?

Definitely. An RV road trip from Uniondale opens up the entire Northeast: Cape Cod, MA (about 240 miles), the White Mountains of New Hampshire (about 320 miles), Acadia National Park in Maine (about 470 miles), the Poconos in Pennsylvania (about 120 miles), and Shenandoah in Virginia (about 360 miles) are all popular routes. Travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval and additional arrangements, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: a classic 7-day loop from Uniondale runs north through Mystic CT, up the Maine coast, and back through the Berkshires, scenic, manageable mileage, and you'll catch lighthouses, lobster shacks, and fall foliage if you time it for October.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for a Uniondale RV rental?

Plan smart and fuel won't surprise you. Class B campervans get roughly 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 10 to 14 MPG, Class A motorhomes 7 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined). Long Island gas prices typically run above the national average, so a 500-mile round trip in a Class C to Montauk and back will cost roughly $130 to $180 in fuel at current rates. Pro tip: fill up in Nassau or Suffolk County before crossing into the Hamptons, prices climb noticeably east of Riverhead, and the Costco in Westbury is a popular pre-trip fuel stop for Uniondale renters.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground for my Long Island RV trip?

Book early and your trip gets easier. Long Island campgrounds fill up fast, especially in summer. New York State Parks like Hither Hills, Wildwood, and Heckscher open reservations 9 months in advance through Reserve America (reserveamerica.com), and prime July and August weekends often sell out within hours of release. Nassau County's Nickerson Beach Campground and Suffolk County parks (Cupsogue, Smith Point, Indian Island) book through their county park systems, also months ahead for peak dates. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly 9 months before your target Hither Hills weekend and log in at 9 AM Eastern, that's the only reliable way to score an oceanfront site in Montauk during the summer.

What's it like driving an RV around Uniondale and Long Island?

Here's the one big thing every Uniondale RV renter needs to know: Long Island's parkways (Meadowbrook, Northern State, Southern State, Wantagh, Sunrise) ban RVs and trailers because of low stone-arch bridges, some under 8 feet of clearance. Stick to the Long Island Expressway (I-495), Route 27 (Sunrise Highway east of Heckscher), Route 25, and Route 25A. These RV-legal roads connect Uniondale to every major destination. Traffic is heaviest on the LIE eastbound on Friday afternoons heading to the Hamptons, so leave Thursday night or Friday before noon if you can. Pro tip: download an RV-safe GPS app like RV Life or CoPilot before pickup, regular Google Maps will route you straight under a 7-foot 9-inch bridge if you let it.
dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/oom/transportation-systems/systems-optimization-section/parkways

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Uniondale?

You'll find a good mix. Most established RV campgrounds near Uniondale, like Battle Row, Heckscher, Wildwood, and Indian Island, offer electric hookups (20/30/50 amp), potable water spigots, dump stations, hot showers, flush toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. Full sewer hookups at each site are rarer on Long Island, so plan to use the on-site dump station before checkout. For freshwater fills and dump stations between trips, Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage and Heckscher State Park in East Islip both have public dump facilities. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, a sewer hose with elbow, and a surge protector, Long Island campground hookups occasionally see voltage spikes during summer thunderstorms.

What should I expect inside a Uniondale RV rental?

Plenty of comfort for your Long Island RV trip. Most Uniondale rentals come fully equipped with sleeping for 4 to 8 (queen beds, convertible dinettes, bunks), a kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, propane stove, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof and dash air conditioning, propane furnace, and a generator or shore power for off-grid nights. Many also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, awning, outdoor camp chairs, and seatbelted seating for travel. WiFi varies, some hosts include a mobile hotspot, others leave it to you. Pro tip: filter listings by your group size and check the photos carefully for the kitchen layout, a campervan rental in Uniondale is perfect for couples, but families of five will want a Class C motorhome rental in Uniondale with a rear bunkhouse.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Uniondale,%20New%20York

What add-ons can I get with my Uniondale RV rental?

You can customize your trip more than most people realize. Common add-ons from Uniondale hosts include kitchen kits ($25 to $50), bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), camp chairs and tables ($10 to $20), generators (sometimes included, sometimes $15 to $35 per night), bike racks, BBQ grills, beach gear, and the big one: delivery and setup (often $2 to $4 per mile). Pickup is typically at the host's home in or near Uniondale, with dropoff at the same location. One-way Long Island trips (Uniondale to Montauk, for example) are sometimes possible, just message the host directly before booking. Pro tip: bundling linens, kitchen kit, and delivery often costs less than the same items à la carte, ask your host for a package deal.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Uniondale,%20New%20York

How does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Uniondale?

Payment is straightforward and fully handled through RVezy, no cash or side payments to the host. You'll pay the rental total (nightly rate, mileage package, protection, service fee, and any add-ons) by credit card at booking, and a refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card a few days before pickup. Deposits typically range from $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value and your chosen protection tier. As long as you return the rig in the same condition with the agreed fuel and waste levels, the hold is released after your trip. Pro tip: do a thorough walk-around photo and video at pickup and dropoff in Uniondale, time-stamped photos are your best friend if any question comes up later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

What's a great first RV road trip from Uniondale for a family?

Here's a perfect family RV trip from Uniondale: head east on the LIE for a 4-day loop hitting Heckscher State Park (about 1 hour out, with family beach and bike trails), then Hither Hills State Park in Montauk (another 1.5 hours, oceanfront campsites and the Montauk Point Lighthouse), then back via the North Fork for vineyards, farm stands, and Indian Island County Park in Riverhead. Total mileage is around 220 miles, easy on fuel and easy on the driver. Kids love the Montauk walking dunes and the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead. Pro tip: book a pet-friendly RV rental in Uniondale and bring the dog, both Hither Hills and Indian Island have leash-friendly loops and miles of beach for morning walks before the crowds arrive.
