We had an amazing experience renting this camper van for the weekend! The van was clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It easily carried all of our gear, including a cooler and fishing poles, with plenty of room to spare. It truly had all the comforts of home—and more. From the kitchen essentials to the camping accessories, everything was provided, making our trip easy and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly show us how to operate the van and explained all of its features and accessories before we left. His attention to detail and willingness to answer our questions made us feel confident and well prepared for our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. If you’re looking for a well-equipped camper van and an owner who genuinely cares about his renters, we highly recommend renting from Mark. We would definitely rent from him again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Woodmere, NY

How much does an RV rental in Woodmere typically cost?

RV rental in Woodmere is often more affordable than booking hotels in the NYC metro area. On RVezy, travel trailers near Woodmere typically run about $90 to $180 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $300, and larger Class A coaches sit between $250 and $450. You can find cheap RV rental Woodmere options by traveling midweek, booking shoulder seasons (April to mid-June or September to October), and choosing travel trailers if you have a tow vehicle. Pro tip: hosts within a 15 to 30 minute drive in Valley Stream, Long Beach, or Far Rockaway often offer better nightly rates than Manhattan-adjacent listings. Use the price filter on RVezy to lock in your budget before browsing.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Woodmere, New York?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Woodmere. New York does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal motorhomes, travel trailers, or campervans under 26,000 pounds. To rent on RVezy you generally need to be 25 or older and upload a clear photo of your license through identity verification. Visiting from abroad? Pair your home-country license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club before flying in. Most first-time renters near Woodmere are surprised at how straightforward the paperwork is, leaving more time to explore Jones Beach.

Is my RV rental in Woodmere protected if something goes wrong?

Yes. Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road around Woodmere with confidence. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout (not the host). Roadside help is built in, which is reassuring when you are navigating Long Island's busy roads or the Belt Parkway near JFK. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers during booking so the level you pick matches the rig and route you have in mind.

What if I need to cancel my Woodmere RV rental?

Booking with confidence is the whole point. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates without worry. Refund amounts after the grace period depend on how far in advance you cancel. Because Woodmere sits in a coastal storm zone where late-summer tropical systems occasionally affect Long Island, this peace of mind matters. Pro tip: book early to get the best rigs and rates for your Woodmere RV trip, knowing the cancellation policy has your back if plans shift.

Can I find a pet-friendly RV rental in Woodmere?

Absolutely, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Woodmere options, and Long Island is a fantastic place to bring the dog. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see rigs that welcome four-legged travelers (some hosts charge a small pet cleaning fee, clearly listed on the page). For paws-on-sand adventures, head to the off-season dog beach at Long Beach (November through March), or hike the leash-friendly trails at Hempstead Lake State Park, just 10 minutes north of Woodmere. Heads-up: Nickerson Beach Campground allows leashed dogs in the campground but not on the beach or playground, so plan walks along the outer perimeter or the on-site dog park.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Woodmere?

Yes, RV delivery Woodmere is one of the smartest ways to start your trip, especially if you're not eager to drive a big rig through the Five Towns or over the Atlantic Beach Bridge. Many RVezy hosts will deliver the motorhome or travel trailer straight to your driveway, a local campground like Nickerson Beach in Lido Beach, or even a Hamptons vacation rental. The host arrives, levels and sets up the RV, connects hookups when available, and walks you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to instantly see which hosts near Woodmere offer this stress-free option.

How far can I travel from Woodmere on an RV road trip?

An RV road trip from Woodmere opens up the entire Northeast. Some favorite routes: Montauk and the Hamptons (about 100 miles east, 2.5 hours on the LIE), the Catskills via the Tappan Zee for hiking and fall foliage (110 miles, 2.5 hours), Cape Cod in Massachusetts (about 250 miles, 5 hours via the Orient Point ferry or I-95), Acadia National Park in Maine (450 miles, 8.5 hours), and Niagara Falls (400 miles, 7 hours). Each RVezy listing shows the host's mileage policy clearly. If you're planning a longer haul, message the host to ask about RV rental with unlimited mileage or a higher daily mileage allowance, which many hosts will gladly arrange in advance.

Where are the best campgrounds near Woodmere for RV camping?

You have great options for RV camping Woodmere within a short drive. Nickerson Beach Park Campground in Lido Beach (about 9 miles south) offers oceanfront RV sites with hookups from April through November (Nassau County Leisure Pass required for resident rates). Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage (about 20 miles east) is open year-round with a wooded, country feel. Heckscher State Park in East Islip (40 miles east) sits on the Great South Bay with bookings via ReserveAmerica up to 9 months ahead. Wildwood State Park in Wading River and Hither Hills State Park in Montauk (oceanfront, legendary) round out the list. Pro tip: book Hither Hills the moment your 9-month window opens, it sells out within minutes.

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Woodmere?

Late spring through mid-fall is prime time for RV camping Woodmere, with two sweet spots. Mid-May through late June brings warm 70s-low 80s°F days, lower humidity, and lighter beach crowds. September through mid-October is a local favorite: ocean water is still warm from summer, days hover in the 70s, and shoulder-season rates drop noticeably. July and August are gorgeous but humid (mid-80s with frequent thunderstorms) and campgrounds book solid. Winter rentals are possible for self-contained rigs, though most Long Island state park campgrounds close after Columbus Day. Pro tip: target the third week of September, post-Labor Day pricing, summery weather, and you can actually get into Nickerson Beach without a months-out booking.

I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay starting from Woodmere?

First time renting an RV? You're in great hands. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, hookups, slides, the generator, and the bathroom systems so nothing feels mysterious. For Woodmere first-timers, two tips make a huge difference: choose a smaller Class C or campervan for easier handling on Long Island's narrow streets, and ask your host about delivery so your first miles aren't through Five Towns traffic. Stick to interstates like the LIE (I-495) and Southern State Parkway extensions instead of NYC's low-clearance parkways. You can also message hosts before booking with any question, and RVezy support is reachable 24/7 throughout your trip.
dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/oom/transportation-systems/repository/safety/Driving_Tips.html

What happens if I have a breakdown or issue during my trip?

You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on the Long Island Expressway or a dead battery at a Montauk campground is just a phone call away. Roadside can dispatch tow services, jump-starts, tire changes, lockout assistance, and fuel delivery anywhere on your route. Your host is also a great first call for quirks specific to their RV, and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone the day you pick up your rig so it is ready if you ever need it.

Can I take my Woodmere RV rental into Canada or other states?

Interstate travel is welcome and easy. Most hosts allow trips throughout the Northeast (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine) and many will say yes to longer hauls. Cross-border travel into Canada is sometimes allowed depending on the host and your protection plan, so ask before booking using the message tool on the listing page. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. A popular Woodmere starting route: head north through Connecticut and Massachusetts toward the White Mountains, or south to the Outer Banks. Confirm the host's interstate and cross-border policy in writing through RVezy messaging before booking.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Woodmere RV trip?

Plan smart and fuel won't break the trip. Class C motorhomes around Woodmere typically get 8-12 MPG, Class A around 6-10 MPG, campervans 14-20 MPG, and a travel trailer behind a midsize SUV roughly 10-14 MPG. New York gas prices tend to run above the national average (often $3.40 to $3.90 per gallon for regular in 2026), and diesel is usually $0.30 to $0.50 higher. Fill up before crossing into Manhattan or the Hamptons, where pumps spike. For a typical 4-night trip to Montauk and back (about 220 miles round trip) in a Class C, budget roughly $80 to $110 in fuel. Pro tip: GasBuddy and Costco in Westbury have the cheapest fuel in Nassau County.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Woodmere?

Book early and your trip basically plans itself. New York State Park campgrounds (Heckscher, Wildwood, Hither Hills) open reservations through ReserveAmerica.com up to 9 months in advance, and oceanfront sites at Hither Hills in Montauk sell out within minutes of the booking window opening at 9 AM. Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach books directly through Nassau County (516-571-7700) and fills fast for summer weekends. For July-August trips, lock in your campsite 4 to 6 months ahead; for September shoulder-season weekends, 6 to 8 weeks is usually enough. Pro tip: if Hither Hills is sold out, set up a free ReserveAmerica account and watch for cancellation openings, they pop up daily.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/

What should I know about driving an RV around Woodmere and NYC?

The single most important rule: do not take New York City's parkways. The Belt, Southern State, Northern State, Wantagh, Meadowbrook, and Grand Central parkways all have low bridge clearances (often 7 to 9 feet) that will not fit an RV. Stick to the Long Island Expressway (I-495), the Cross Island Parkway only if your rig is under 8 feet (rare), and Sunrise Highway (Route 27) for traveling east. Garmin RV or CoPilot RV GPS apps automatically route around low clearances. Traffic on the LIE is heaviest 7-10 AM and 3-7 PM, plus summer Friday afternoons heading to the Hamptons. Pro tip: pick up your motorhome rental Woodmere before 10 AM on a weekend to avoid the rush.
dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/oom/transportation-systems/repository/Parkway%20Restrictions.htm

What amenities do campgrounds near Woodmere offer, and where can I dump?

Long Island campgrounds are well-equipped for RV camping. Nickerson Beach offers 30/50 amp electric, water, sewer hookups at most RV sites, a dump station, hot showers, laundry, and a pool. Battle Row provides electric and water hookups plus a dump station, restrooms, and shower facilities. Heckscher State Park has electric sites, potable water fills, and a centralized dump station. Need to dump between stops? Heckscher and Wildwood State Parks both have public dump stations, and many Long Island marinas in Freeport and Captree offer pump-out services. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before leaving Woodmere; some Long Island state parks shut off water spigots after October 15 to prevent freezing.
parks.ny.gov/parks/heckscher/details.aspx

What features and amenities come with most Woodmere RV rentals?

Most RVs you'll find for rent near Woodmere come ready for comfortable living: a queen or full bed, convertible dinette beds, a kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, sink, a full bathroom with toilet and shower, roof AC, propane furnace, and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Many include a generator (great for tailgating or boondocking), some have TVs and built-in WiFi or hotspots, and most sleep 4 to 7 depending on size. Each RVezy listing shows exactly what's included, plus optional add-ons like bedding kits, camp chairs, kayaks, bike racks, or generator hours. Pro tip: bring or rent a portable Wi-Fi hotspot if you're working remotely from the Hamptons; cell coverage out there can be spotty.
fcc.gov/consumers/guides/cell-phone-coverage-maps

What add-ons, mileage policies, and pickup details should I expect?

Hosts customize their listings, so you will see clear pricing for add-ons like bedding and towel kits ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, generator usage (often $3 to $5 per hour beyond a free allowance), kayaks or bikes, and propane refills. Mileage is usually 100 to 150 free miles per night with extra miles at $0.30 to $0.50 each, and some hosts offer unlimited mileage packages, ideal for a Maine or Niagara Falls road trip. Pickup typically happens at the host's home in Nassau or Queens, or via delivery to your campground. Check-in usually runs 1 to 3 PM and check-out 10 to 11 AM. Pro tip: ask about a late check-out if you are flying out of JFK (just 7 miles from Woodmere) on the last day.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple, secure, and handled entirely through RVezy. You pay by credit or debit card at booking, with no cash changing hands at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) shortly before your trip starts and released after drop-off, assuming the rig is returned in the same condition. To keep your deposit safe and your trip smooth: take time-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, return with the agreed fuel and propane levels, dump tanks if required, and stay within the agreed mileage. Pro tip: do the walk-through carefully with your host and note any pre-existing scratches or dings in the RVezy app.
