2023 Forest River Travel Trailer
Sandy went above and beyond. Leading up to the rental dates she was in communication, making sure we were on the same page. I opted for delivery rather than pickup, and she made sure the rv was delivered early so we could fully enjoy the rental dates. We had a normal issue w the AC (the unit froze) but she was very communicative and helpful until the problem was solved (she suggested to turn it to fan in case the unit was frozen, and it quickly thawed). Always very sweet and courteous, always responsive. My four year old son loved the trailer, was very upset to understand that we had to give it back 😂. Thanks, Sandy!

Fantastic experience! The RV delivery and pick up were easy, the RV was clean and comfortable- our granddaughter loved the top bunk- and Owen communicated effectively, even when I texted him kind of late to ask about the stove. I would highly reccomend Owen!

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Steelton, PA?
RV rental in Steelton, PA is surprisingly affordable, especially compared with hotel rooms in nearby Hershey or Harrisburg during peak season. On RVezy you'll typically find travel trailers from around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes between $175 and $275 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes from $250 to $400 per night. Prices climb during Hersheypark summer weekends, AACA Fall Meet in Hershey (early October), and the Pennsylvania Farm Show in January. visithersheyharrisburg.org/events/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Steelton?
Good news: for nearly every RV you'll rent in Steelton, your regular Class C Pennsylvania driver's license (or your home state/country equivalent) is all you need. PennDOT only requires a non-commercial Class B license for single vehicles over 26,000 pounds, and the Class A, B, C motorhomes and travel trailers on RVezy almost always fall well under that threshold. You must be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and ID verification happens right inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. No CDL, no RV endorsement, no extra test.
pa.gov/agencies/penndot/driver-and-vehicle-services/driver-licensing.htmlWhat kind of protection comes with my RV rental in Steelton?
Every RV rental in Steelton booked through RVezy comes with a built-in renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on Route 322 toward Hershey or I-83 south toward Gettysburg with real peace of mind. During checkout, you choose from RVezy's renter protection plan tiers, each covering physical damage to the RV plus liability while you are on the road. Coverage is designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV rentals, not a traditional auto policy. Hosts do not pick your coverage level, you do, which means you can match the protection to your trip length and comfort level before you confirm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Steelton RV trip?
You can book with confidence: RVezy applies a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy to every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after booking so you have breathing room to firm up plans. Refund outcomes depend on how far in advance of your trip start date you cancel. The policy is set by RVezy, not the individual host, so it is consistent across every listing and is not displayed on the listing page itself. If your host cancels, RVezy refunds you or issues travel credit. Lock in your Hersheypark or Gettysburg weekend dates early and adjust if life happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Steelton RV rental?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental Steelton options are easy to find on RVezy. Flip on the Pet-Friendly filter and you will see listings from hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Many charge a small pet fee, which is shown upfront before you book. Once you have the RV, central Pennsylvania is dog-friendly: leashed pets are welcome on most trails at Gifford Pinchot State Park, at Wildwood Park along the Susquehanna in Harrisburg, and at many Pennsylvania state park campgrounds that allow pets in designated loops. Message the host through the listing if you want to confirm whether your specific breed and size are a fit.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/WhatToDo/Camping/Pages/Pets.aspxCan the RV be delivered to me in Steelton?
Yes, RV delivery Steelton is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drop the motorhome or travel trailer right at your campsite, your driveway in Steelton, or a Hersheypark Camping Resort pad, then level it, hook up water and electric, and walk you through every system before they leave. Common delivery destinations include Hersheypark Camping Resort, Hershey/Lebanon KOA, Gifford Pinchot State Park, and Gettysburg/Battlefield KOA. Delivery fees vary by distance and are shown clearly on each listing. It is the easiest way to skip the stress of driving a big rig your first time out.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Steelton%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow far can I drive on a Steelton RV rental?
Plenty far, central Pennsylvania is a fantastic launchpad. Each Steelton host sets their own daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day), and you will see the exact number on every listing before booking. Some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for a longer Steelton RV trip up to the Poconos or out to Pittsburgh. For perspective: Hershey is about 12 miles, Lancaster around 35 miles, Gettysburg about 45 miles, the Poconos roughly 110 miles, and Washington D.C. is about 130 miles south. If you are planning a bigger loop, filter for unlimited mileage or message the host to add extra miles upfront, often cheaper than paying overage at the end.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Steelton%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhere are the best campgrounds near Steelton to park an RV?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to where to park an RV in Steelton. The best campgrounds near Steelton include Hersheypark Camping Resort (about 10 miles north, great for theme park fans with full hookups and shuttle access), Jonestown/Hershey KOA (about 20 miles northeast with creek access for kayaking the Swatara), Gifford Pinchot State Park in Lewisberry (25 miles southwest, lakefront sites with electric), Pine Grove Furnace State Park (45 miles west, classic Appalachian setting on the AT), and Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA (about 50 miles southwest, walking distance to historic sites). Reserve early for any summer Saturday: Hersheypark and Gettysburg KOA fill up months in advance.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Steelton?
Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping Steelton travelers love, but every season has its charm. Spring (April to May) brings 55 to 70 degree days and dogwoods blooming along the Susquehanna. Summer (June to August) hits 80 to 90 degrees with high humidity, ideal for Hersheypark and lake swimming at Gifford Pinchot. Fall (mid-September through late October) is a local favorite: crisp 50 to 70 degree days, excellent foliage along Route 30 toward Gettysburg, and the AACA Fall Meet in Hershey. Winter dips into the 20s and 30s with occasional snow; many campgrounds close November through March, while a handful of year-round parks stay open for off-season deals.
weather.gov/ctp/I have never rented an RV before. Is it really this easy?
Yes, and you are going to be fine. First time renting an RV is a normal moment for the majority of Steelton bookings, and every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery if they bring it to you). They walk you through propane, fresh water, gray and black tanks, generator, slide-outs, and the dashboard before you turn a key. Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental Steelton if you are nervous about size; they drive much like a large van. Most central PA highways (I-83, I-81, Route 322) are well-marked and RV-friendly. You can message your host any time during the trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if the RV breaks down on my trip?
Take a deep breath, you are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you blow a tire on the PA Turnpike, the generator quits at Pine Grove Furnace, or the slide-out gets stuck at Hersheypark Camping Resort, help is one phone call away. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app, they know their RV better than anyone and can often troubleshoot smaller issues on the spot. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Save the roadside number to your phone before you leave the driveway and travel with total confidence.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's the best RV road trip from Steelton?
An RV road trip from Steelton can go in five gorgeous directions. Head west on Route 30 to Gettysburg (45 miles) for Civil War history, then continue to Cowans Gap State Park for a swim. Drive northeast on I-78 to the Poconos (110 miles) for waterfalls and Lake Wallenpaupack. Take I-83 south to Washington D.C. (130 miles) for the Smithsonian and a stop at Codorus State Park. Cruise east on US-30 through Lancaster's Amish country (35 miles) for buggies and farmstands. Or run north on US-15 to Williamsport and the Pennsylvania Wilds (90 miles). Cross-border trips into Maryland, West Virginia, New York, or New Jersey are fine on most rentals; trips to Canada need host approval, and travel to Mexico isn't permitted.
visitpa.com/regions/dutch-country-roadsWhat kind of fuel mileage will I get, and how much should I budget for gas?
Realistic numbers help you budget like a pro. Class B campervans get 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 MPG, Class A motorhomes get 6-10 MPG, and a truck towing a travel trailer averages 9-12 MPG. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average because of state fuel taxes, so check GasBuddy near Steelton's Routes 230 and 441 before filling up; Sheetz and Rutter's stations along Eisenhower Boulevard are usually competitive. For a 4-day, 400-mile trip from Steelton to Gettysburg, Lancaster, and back in a Class C, plan roughly $150-$200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up off-turnpike for noticeably better prices.
energy.gov/eere/vehicles/fuel-economyHow far ahead should I book a campground near Steelton?
Book sooner than you'd think. Pennsylvania state parks like Gifford Pinchot, Pine Grove Furnace, and Codorus open reservations 11 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and the prime summer Saturday sites near Steelton vanish fast, especially Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends. Hersheypark Camping Resort and Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA fill 3-6 months ahead for summer weekends. For shoulder-season trips in May or late September, you can often grab a great spot 2-4 weeks out. Pro tip: if your dream park is full, check Tuesday and Wednesday for last-minute cancellations, they pop up constantly. Reserve the campground before you finalize your RV booking so dates line up perfectly.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Steelton?
Driving around Steelton is genuinely RV-friendly. The town sits right on I-83 and just minutes from I-81, US-322, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76), all wide, well-maintained highways built for big vehicles. Watch for the Susquehanna River bridges (especially I-83 over the river into Harrisburg) on windy days, take it slow. Avoid driving directly through downtown Harrisburg during weekday rush hour; the Capitol Complex streets are narrow with low-clearance underpasses. In winter, central PA gets ice storms and snow squalls between December and March, so check PennDOT's 511PA before heading out. Summer thunderstorms can pop up quickly; pull over if you can't see the lane lines.
511pa.com/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Steelton?
Campgrounds near Steelton run the full spectrum, so you can pick your comfort level. Private parks like Hersheypark Camping Resort and Jonestown/Hershey KOA typically offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), hot showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, pools, and on-site dump stations. Pennsylvania state parks like Gifford Pinchot and Pine Grove Furnace usually offer electric-only or modern non-hookup sites with potable water spigots and centrally located dump stations, plus restrooms with flush toilets and showers in season. Need to dump or fill water mid-trip? Most state parks let day-users use the dump station for a small fee. Bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, a sewer hose, and leveling blocks just in case.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsites.htmlWhat's actually inside the RVs I'll find in Steelton?
More than you might expect. Most motorhome rental Steelton listings include a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or bunks (some sleep 6-8), a full kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge, and sink, plus a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet. Expect roof-mounted air conditioning, a propane furnace for chilly Pennsylvania nights, seatbelts at every designated passenger seat, an awning, and often a flat-screen TV. Many hosts include a generator for off-grid power and outdoor cooking gear. Wi-Fi varies, central PA has solid cellular along I-83, so a phone hotspot works well at most campgrounds. Each listing photo and amenity list spells out exactly what's included, no guessing.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat add-ons and extras can I get with my Steelton RV rental?
Plenty, and they make family RV trip Steelton planning a breeze. Common add-ons on RVezy include bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits with pots, dishes, and utensils, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, generators, propane refills, and even pre-stocked groceries from some hosts. Delivery and setup to your campground is the most popular add-on around Steelton. Pickup and dropoff usually happen at the host's home (typically in Steelton, Harrisburg, Hershey, or Middletown), and many offer Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) meet-ups. Mileage policies vary by listing, so review your daily allowance and per-mile overage rate before booking, then add extra miles if you are planning a longer loop.
flyhia.com/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is straightforward and fully handled through RVezy, no cash, no checks, no awkward driveway transactions. You pay with a credit or debit card at the time of booking, and the platform securely processes everything. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment; the exact amount is shown on each listing and depends on the RV and the renter protection plan you select. As long as you return the RV in the same condition you received it (fuel topped off, tanks emptied if required, no new damage), the deposit hold is released after the trip. Snap a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff, it protects everyone.
