This was my first time renting a camper van for my extended camping trip. This was just what I needed and was very easy to maintain. I loved that Stephanie took the time to add solar panels so the power inside the van could be used without turning it on. I got multiple compliments on how nice it was and gladly spread the word on how to go about renting it. I will definitely use this again!

Great RV! Owen delivered and set up the RV for us. We checked in late and the ac was already on and running. There was water bottles in the fridge for us. The only issue was a small water leak from the water inlet. It happened at the end of the stay. It didn’t impact our stay.

The RV was incredibly comfortable — both while driving and when parked for the night. The ride was smooth, and the layout inside made it easy to relax and enjoy our trip. You can tell Joshua takes great care of the RV, and he was a helpful and responsive host throughout the process. Highly recommend renting from him if you're looking for a reliable, clean, and comfortable RV experience!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Wyndham, VA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Wyndham, VA?

Great news: RV rental in Wyndham, VA is one of the most affordable ways to explore Virginia's capital region. On RVezy, towable trailers near Wyndham average around $120 per night while motorhomes average about $200 per night, and many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly stays. You'll save even more by booking shoulder-season trips in April, May, or October, when temperatures are comfortable and Pocahontas State Park sites are easier to grab. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and message hosts directly to ask about included add-ons like camp chairs, generators, or kitchen kits, which can save you $50 to $100 versus renting them separately.

What kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Wyndham, VA?

Good news for first-timers: a regular Virginia Class D driver's license (or the equivalent from your home state) is all you need to drive almost any motorhome or tow any travel trailer you'll find on RVezy. Virginia only requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for commercial vehicles, and personal-use recreational vehicles are exempt. To rent on RVezy you generally need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens quickly during checkout. Visiting from another country? Your home-country license is accepted, and an International Driving Permit makes pickup easier. Most renters in the Wyndham area are on the road within an hour of meeting their host.

Is the RV protected if something happens during my trip in Wyndham, VA?

Yes, peace of mind is built into every booking. Every RV rental in Wyndham on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you're covered for eligible damage and you have a real person to call if you get a flat on I-295 or need help with a hookup at your campsite. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, hosts don't pick this for you, and higher tiers reduce your out-of-pocket exposure. Bring a friend, bring the family, and head out confident knowing support is just a tap away.

What happens if I need to cancel my Wyndham RV rental?

Life happens, and RVezy is built for flexibility. Every booking is backed by the RVezy cancellation policy, which includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in a great rig with confidence. Cancellation outcomes depend on how far out from your trip you cancel, and RVezy (not the host) sets these rules. If a host cancels, guests receive a refund or travel credit. The support team is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: book early for a Pocahontas State Park weekend or Kings Dominion visit, then relax knowing you have a clear path if plans change.

Can I bring my dog on a Wyndham RV trip?

Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in Wyndham is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see dozens of listings within Henrico County and greater Richmond whose hosts welcome dogs (some welcome cats too). Once you arrive, you've got fantastic options for your pup: Pocahontas State Park allows leashed dogs in campsites and on most trails, and Deep Run Park on Ridgefield Parkway, just minutes from Wyndham, has shaded walking loops perfect for a pre-drive stretch. Always confirm pet fees and breed notes in the listing before you book. Pro tip: bring a long lead and a collapsible water bowl, summer humidity in central Virginia gets serious by midday.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Wyndham?

Yes, and RV delivery in Wyndham is one of the smartest moves for first-timers. Many hosts in the Glen Allen and Short Pump area will drive the motorhome or travel trailer right to Pocahontas State Park, Americamps Richmond North in Ashland, or your driveway off Nuckols Road, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. That means no white-knuckle moments merging onto I-64 in a rig you've never driven. Delivery fees are set by the host and usually scale with distance, so a local drop in Henrico County will cost less than a haul to Williamsburg. Look for the Delivery filter when you search.

How far can I travel on a Wyndham RV trip?

You've got serious range from Wyndham, and many hosts offer generous or even unlimited mileage packages, just check the listing. From Wyndham you can reach Pocahontas State Park in about 35 minutes (25 miles), Colonial Williamsburg in roughly 1 hour (55 miles), Virginia Beach in about 2 hours (110 miles), Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive in about 2 hours (95 miles), and Washington, D.C. in about 2 hours (110 miles). For a longer RV road trip from Wyndham, the Blue Ridge Parkway is roughly 3 hours west. Pro tip: message the host before booking if you're planning 500-plus miles, many will waive overage fees for a multi-day trip with advance notice.

Where are the best campgrounds near Wyndham, VA?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Wyndham include Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield (about 30 miles south, 7,950 wooded acres with electric and water hookups), Americamps Richmond North in Ashland (a full-hookup park right off I-95, perfect for an easy first night), Richmond North/Kings Dominion KOA in Doswell (20 minutes north, great for families hitting the amusement park), Rockahock Campgrounds on the Chickahominy River near Lanexa (about an hour east), and Powhatan State Park on the James River (30 miles west, quieter and more rustic). For RV camping near Wyndham, Pocahontas books out fastest, especially summer weekends. Lock in your site, then book your RV.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Wyndham?

Spring (mid-April through early June) and fall (mid-September through early November) are absolutely the sweet spots for a Wyndham RV trip. Daytime temperatures sit in the comfortable 65 to 78 degree range, humidity drops, and the trees around Henrico County put on a serious color show in October. Summer (late June through August) is hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and afternoon thunderstorms, so plan for shaded sites and crank the AC at Pocahontas or Powhatan. Winters are mild for the East Coast (30s to 50s) and many campgrounds stay open year-round, making December and January a peaceful, low-cost time to roam.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?

You're going to do great, and you won't be left to figure it out alone. Every host on RVezy gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving the rig, hooking up power and water, dumping tanks, running the awning, and using the propane stove. If first time renting an RV feels intimidating, choose a Class B campervan or a small Class C motorhome, both handle a lot like a big van and are easy to navigate on the wide roads around West Broad Street and Short Pump. Add delivery so you skip driving entirely on day one. RVezy's 24/7 support is one tap away if anything stumps you mid-trip.
virginiadot.org/safety/

What happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

You're never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on I-295, a dead battery at Pocahontas State Park, or a tow situation on Route 288 is handled with one phone call. Your host is also a direct resource for quirks specific to their RV, and most respond quickly through the app. Pro tip: snap photos of the tire sidewalls and the battery location during your walkthrough so you can give roadside the exact info they need. The Richmond metro has excellent service coverage, so help is usually nearby.

Can I take the RV across state lines or into Canada from Wyndham?

Yes, interstate travel is fine for a Virginia RV rental trip, and Wyndham's location on the I-95 and I-64 corridor makes multi-state adventures easy. Popular RV road trip routes from Wyndham include heading north to Washington, D.C. and into Maryland or Pennsylvania, south to the Outer Banks of North Carolina (about 4 hours), or west into West Virginia for the New River Gorge. Cross-border travel into Canada depends on the host and protection coverage, so confirm with your host through the RVezy message thread before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Bring your passport for any northern routes, just in case.

What should I budget for fuel on a Wyndham RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable expense, but Virginia's gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, which keeps your motorhome rental in Wyndham budget-friendly. Plan on roughly 7 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class A or Class C motorhome, 14 to 18 mpg for a Class B campervan, and your tow vehicle's normal mileage minus 25 to 30 percent for a travel trailer. As a quick math example: a round-trip from Wyndham to Shenandoah (about 200 miles) will run a Class C around $80 to $110 in fuel. Pro tip: Wawa and Sheetz stations along I-64 and I-295 are convenient and often offer competitive prices for RV-friendly fueling.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Wyndham?

For the best campgrounds near Wyndham, book as early as you can, Virginia State Parks open reservations 11 months in advance through the official reservevaparks.com system. Pocahontas State Park summer weekends and any site with a 50-amp hookup fill up fastest, so March is not too early to lock in a July stay. Private parks like Americamps Richmond North and Richmond North/Kings Dominion KOA take reservations directly on their websites and usually have more last-minute availability. Pro tip: if Pocahontas shows sold out, set up an alert; cancellations are common, and you can often snag a Friday-night opening within a week of the trip.

What are local driving conditions like around Wyndham?

Driving an RV around Wyndham is honestly pretty mellow compared to most metros. The community sits in northwestern Henrico County with quick access to I-64, I-95, I-295, and Route 288, and the terrain is gentle rolling Piedmont, so no white-knuckle mountain grades. Rush hour on I-64 East toward downtown Richmond (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.) is the one stretch worth avoiding in a big rig. Watch for the 13 foot 6 inch height limit on Virginia roads and skip the older parkway tunnels near Hampton Roads if you're in a Class A. Pro tip: leave Wyndham via Route 288 south to bypass downtown entirely when heading to Pocahontas or Williamsburg.
virginiadot.org/travel/511.asp

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Wyndham?

You'll find well-equipped campgrounds throughout the Richmond area. Pocahontas State Park offers electric and water hookups (no sewer at site, but there's a dump station), hot-shower bathhouses, a camp store, and a free aquatic center for overnight guests. Americamps Richmond North and the Richmond North/Kings Dominion KOA both have full hookups including sewer, plus laundry, Wi-Fi, and pools. For potable water fills and dump stations on travel days, most Virginia State Parks let day-use RVers dump for a small fee. Pro tip: keep a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-amp-to-50-amp adapter in the rig, Pocahontas has a mix of amperages across its 132 sites.
dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/pocahontas

What's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Wyndham?

More than you'd expect. RVs listed in Wyndham typically include a real bed (queen or king in most Class C and travel trailer models), a kitchen with a fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with a shower and toilet, a dinette that converts to a sleeping area, air conditioning, and a furnace for cooler nights. Many also include a TV, Wi-Fi hotspot or cell booster, outdoor speakers, and a generator for off-grid stays. Seatbelts for travel are clearly listed in each rig's specs, so a family RV trip Wyndham crew of 4 to 6 is easy to accommodate. Always confirm sleeps count and seatbelt count in the listing before booking.

What add-ons and pickup options should I look for when I rent an RV in Wyndham, VA?

Hosts in the Wyndham and Glen Allen area offer genuinely useful add-ons that make your trip smoother. Common ones include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits with pots, plates, and utensils, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, portable grills, generators for boondocking, bike racks, and pre-stocked firewood. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Henrico County, but RV delivery in Wyndham is widely available for an extra fee tied to distance. Mileage policies vary by listing, some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, others include a set number of free miles per night with a small per-mile fee beyond that. Compare these details in each listing before booking.

How does payment and the security deposit work for a Wyndham RV rental?

Booking is straightforward and secure. You pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, and a refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card shortly before the trip starts, separate from your booking payment. The deposit covers items like minor damage, missing items, or mileage overages, and it's released after the trip if everything checks out. To avoid any hiccups: do a thorough walkthrough with your host at pickup, take time-stamped photos of the interior and exterior, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your host requires it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Are there cheap RV rentals in Wyndham for a budget-friendly trip?

Definitely. Cheap RV rental Wyndham options are easy to find on RVezy, especially among travel trailers, pop-ups, and smaller Class C motorhomes, which often start around $90 to $130 per night. To stretch your budget further: travel midweek (Sunday-through-Thursday nights are noticeably cheaper than Friday and Saturday), book in shoulder seasons like late April or October, look for hosts offering weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, and choose a campervan rental Wyndham if you only need to sleep two, fuel costs drop dramatically. Pair that with a state park site at Pocahontas ($40 a night) instead of a private resort and you've got a Richmond-area RV getaway under $200 a day all-in.
