My wife and I are thinking of buying an RV and decided to rent one and see if it was a good fit. What a stroke of luck it was finding Kerri and her rental unit. It was perfect for the two of us. We didn't need to pack anything but our tooth brushes. This camper had everything you needed from chairs to games to a completely stocked bathroom with anything you would need to refresh. It was exactly what a couple of novice campers needed. You will not be disappointed renting this unit. Kerri deserves 5 stars.

Our family greatly enjoyed traveling across Florida and back in this spacious, comfortable RV. The owners provided a PDF of the user manual and made themselves available for questions which helped a lot considering this was my first time renting a motor home. It was a very enjoyable experience so we’re looking forward to another RV rental in the future :)

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Asbury Lake, FL

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Asbury Lake, FL?

RV rental in Asbury Lake is one of the most affordable ways to explore Northeast Florida, with most rentals on RVezy ranging from about $95 to $175 per night for travel trailers, $130 to $225 for Class C motorhomes, and $200 to $350 for big Class A coaches. Because hosts set their own pricing and add-ons, you can compare side by side and filter by price range to find a cheap RV rental in Asbury Lake that still has the layout you want. Pro tip: booking Sunday through Thursday and avoiding Florida spring break weeks (mid-March) can shave 15 to 25 percent off your nightly rate, leaving more room in the budget for Black Creek kayak rentals or a day trip to St. Augustine.

What do I need to rent an RV in Asbury Lake, Florida?

Good news, the process to rent an RV in Asbury Lake is refreshingly simple. You need to be 25 or older and have a valid driver's license. A regular Class E Florida license (or any standard state or country license) is all it takes, no commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement required. RVezy verifies your ID right inside the platform during checkout, so there is nothing extra to scan or mail. Visiting from outside the US? Grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home auto association before you fly into Jacksonville International Airport (about 35 miles north of Asbury Lake), and you are ready to roll.

Is the RV protected if something happens during my trip in Asbury Lake?

Yes, every RV rental in Asbury Lake booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head down Highway 17 toward Green Cove Springs with confidence. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, and the plan covers eligible accidental physical damage to the RV up to the stated limits. It is not standard auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial peace of mind for situations like a cracked windshield on I-95 or a minor bump at a tight campground turn. Pair that with your host's pickup walkthrough and you will feel ready from day one.

What happens if I need to cancel my Asbury Lake RV rental?

Booking feels low-risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy. You can see the exact terms during checkout and in your booking confirmation, and your refund amount depends on how far in advance you cancel. Special circumstances like hurricanes or named tropical storms can also factor in, which is worth knowing since Florida's official hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Tip: book your Asbury Lake RV early to lock in the best rig for your dates, knowing the RVezy cancellation policy has your back if plans shift.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Asbury Lake?

Absolutely, many Asbury Lake hosts welcome four-legged co-pilots. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see every pet-friendly RV rental in Asbury Lake, then message the host to confirm size or breed details. Once you are on the road, Clay County keeps things easy: leashed dogs are welcome at Camp Chowenwaw Park along Black Creek, and Ronnie Van Zant Memorial Park in Lake Asbury is a local favorite for a pre-drive run. Pack a collapsible water bowl, your rabies tag, and a beach towel, and your pup is ready for the Florida sunshine.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Asbury Lake?

Yes, RV delivery in Asbury Lake is one of the most popular options, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a 30-foot motorhome down Henley Road. Many local RVezy hosts will deliver right to your driveway in Lake Asbury, to a campground like Kelly's RV Park in Green Cove Springs, or to spots farther out such as Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park (about 25 miles southwest). They will level the rig, hook up water and power, and walk you through every switch and tank before they leave. Check the Delivery filter on the search page and look for a delivery radius and per-mile fee on each listing.

How far can I drive on a typical Asbury Lake RV rental?

You have plenty of room to roam. Most hosts on RVezy include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 free miles per day), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage if you are planning a longer Florida road trip. From Asbury Lake you are perfectly positioned: Jacksonville Beach is about 30 miles east, St. Augustine's historic district is 45 miles southeast, Daytona Beach is roughly 90 miles south, Orlando and the theme parks are 140 miles south, and Gainesville is 75 miles southwest. Each listing shows the included miles and overage rate (often $0.30 to $0.45 per extra mile), so map your route, then filter for the policy that matches.

Where are the best campgrounds near Asbury Lake to park my RV?

You are surrounded by excellent options for RV camping in Asbury Lake. Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park (about 25 miles southwest in Keystone Heights) has shaded full-hookup sites under towering pines and a clear sandhill lake for swimming. Kelly's RV Park in Green Cove Springs sits along Black Creek, just 10 miles from Asbury Lake. Clay County Fairgrounds RV Park offers easy big-rig pull-throughs with 30/50 amp service. A bit farther afield, Flamingo Lake RV Resort north of Jacksonville (about 35 miles) has a private 17-acre lake and on-site cafe. Reserve state park sites up to 11 months ahead on the Florida State Parks website, especially November through April.

When is the best time of year for an Asbury Lake RV trip?

The sweet spot for an Asbury Lake RV trip is mid-October through late April, when daytime highs hover between 65 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit, humidity drops, and mosquitoes take a break. This is also peak snowbird season in Florida, so book early. Spring (March through April) brings blooming azaleas at nearby Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka and ideal temperatures for paddling Black Creek. Summer (June to September) is warm and humid with afternoon thunderstorms and an active hurricane season, but campgrounds are wide open and rates dip. Local insider tip: November weekdays right after the Clay County Agricultural Fair (held each April) are the quietest, most beautiful time to camp.

I have never driven an RV. Will I be okay renting in Asbury Lake?

Yes, and you are in great company, first time renting an RV is something hundreds of Asbury Lake guests do every season. Your RVezy host gives you a full in-person orientation at pickup, walking you through driving the rig, leveling, awnings, propane, tanks, and the generator before you ever pull away. Asbury Lake itself is a friendly place to start: the wide, lightly trafficked roads around County Road 220 and Henley Road are perfect for getting comfortable before you head out to bigger highways. Prefer to skip the driving entirely? Filter for Delivery and your host will bring the RV to your site fully set up.

What if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

Take a breath, you are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on State Road 21 heading toward Keystone Heights or the fridge stops cooling at your Camp Blanding-area campsite, one call gets help dispatched. Your host is also your first text-message lifeline for quick how-to questions like where the inverter switch is, how to refill propane in Orange Park, or which valve dumps gray water. Save both numbers in your phone at pickup. Most issues are simple fixes once you know who to call, and that safety net is exactly why renting on RVezy feels easy.

Can I take my Asbury Lake rental on a longer road trip out of Florida?

Yes, an RV road trip from Asbury Lake into neighboring states is one of the best uses of your rental. Most hosts welcome travel throughout the continental US, and popular routes include Savannah, GA (about 145 miles north), Charleston, SC (240 miles north), the Great Smoky Mountains in TN (530 miles northwest), and the Florida Keys (440 miles south on US-1). Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed with host approval and added insurance paperwork, but travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to insurance limits. Message the host directly from the listing before you book to confirm your route and any mileage adjustments.
fdot.gov/agencyresources/maps

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?

Florida gas is generally among the more affordable in the Southeast (recent statewide averages have run around $3.10 to $3.40 per gallon for regular), and Asbury Lake has easy fill-up options at the Murphy USA and RaceTrac stations along Blanding Boulevard. Plan on roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon (mpg) for a Class A, 10 to 14 mpg for a Class C, 14 to 18 mpg for a travel trailer setup, and 18 to 22 mpg for a Class B campervan rental in Asbury Lake. For a 4-night, 400-mile loop in a Class C, budget about $120 to $160 in fuel. Pro tip: use the GasBuddy app and fill up in Middleburg or Orange Park where prices tend to dip 10 to 20 cents.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book my Asbury Lake campground?

For the most popular sites, book as soon as you confirm your RV. Florida State Parks (including Mike Roess Gold Head Branch and Stephen Foster State Park) open reservations exactly 11 months in advance through ReserveAmerica's Florida portal, and waterfront sites near Asbury Lake disappear within minutes during the November-to-April high season. Private parks like Kelly's RV Park and Clay County Fairgrounds RV Park typically take reservations 3 to 6 months out and are more flexible. Pro tip: if you are flexible, target Sunday or Monday arrivals, those are the easiest days to grab last-minute weekend cancellations on the Florida State Parks site each morning at 8 a.m.

What are the driving conditions like around Asbury Lake?

Driving an RV around Asbury Lake is genuinely easygoing, which is part of why it is such a popular launchpad for a Florida RV trip. Roads are flat and well-paved, with light traffic on Henley Road, County Road 220, and State Road 21. The main consideration is I-295 and the Buckman Bridge heading into Jacksonville, where crosswinds across the St. Johns River can push taller rigs (stay in the right lanes and keep speeds moderate). Watch for sudden afternoon thunderstorms June through September, brief but heavy, and just pull off at a rest area until they pass. No mountain grades and no toll headaches on most local routes.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Asbury Lake?

Most campgrounds near Asbury Lake are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Full hookup sites at places like Kelly's RV Park and Flamingo Lake RV Resort include 30/50 amp electric, fresh water, and sewer right at your pad. Florida State Parks like Mike Roess Gold Head Branch offer water and electric at each site plus a central dump station and potable water fill near the entrance. Expect clean bathhouses with hot showers, laundry rooms at most private parks, and Wi-Fi that ranges from solid to spotty (cell service on Verizon and AT&T is strong throughout Clay County). Free public dump stations are also available at Flying J on US-301 in Lawtey, about 30 minutes west.

Expect a queen or king bed in the main suite plus convertible dinettes or bunks (sleeping 4 to 8 depending on the rig), a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, plus a bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower. Most motorhome rentals in Asbury Lake also include air conditioning (essential in Florida), house heat, an LED TV, Bluetooth stereo, USB ports, and seatbelts for every passenger. Many hosts add a generator, outdoor speaker, or backup camera. Check each listing's amenities tab and message the host if Wi-Fi hotspot or a specific item is a must-have.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and fully handled through the RVezy platform, no cash, no checks to the host, no awkward exchanges. You pay with a credit or debit card when you book, and your host receives funds only after your trip starts, so both sides are protected. A refundable security deposit is placed as a temporary hold on your card before pickup and released after drop-off if there are no damages or extra cleaning fees. Tip: do a quick walkthrough video with your host at pickup and drop-off. That 60-second habit is the single best way to keep your deposit return fast and friction-free.
