2025 Other Class B
This was our first campervan rental (actually, it was our first Campervan trip of any kind) and it has really inspired us do it again. Renting from Linda was easy. She was very responsive to any questions we had about the process and what was included. The van was amazing. Spotlessly clean with everything we needed to make our trip easy. The walk through was informative and Linda answered all our questions. We could not have been happier with our experience. We'll be renting again for sure!

We had a great time, and the RV definitely helped with that! We went to a charity campout that allows RVs. It was so nice to spend time in Tampa and have a comfortable bed and A/C to come back to. Gary was easy to work with, the RV use was reasonably priced, and I will call on him again!

David's support and "Goldilocks" exceeded our expectations. With our 2 medium labradoodles, we had the "just right" amount of space and were able to enjoy 2 lovely south-GA state parks in our 5 day getaway. We appreciated David dropping off & picking up the RV so we could get the most enjoyment from our limited time. The twin beds made for a great night sleep, and we loved how many windows the rig had --- an overall great layout and very well maintained.

I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving around East Lake?

You have got this, and you are in great hands. Every East Lake host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dash controls, and they are a text message away for the whole trip. East Lake itself has wide suburban roads, and major routes like US-19 and the Suncoast Parkway (toll road) are flat, straight, and easy to navigate compared to mountain or city driving. If you are nervous about your first time renting an RV, ask your host for delivery and choose a smaller Class C or campervan rental East Lake travelers love for tighter parking. Pro tip: do a practice loop around a large quiet parking lot before heading to busier beach destinations.

Can I take my East Lake RV rental out of Florida or across the border?

Yes, you can cross state lines on your motorhome rental East Lake adventure. Most hosts allow travel throughout the continental U.S., making routes like East Lake to Savannah, Asheville, or New Orleans totally doable. Just confirm the host's travel policy on the listing or message them before booking. One important note: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage end at the border. Travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval. Pro tip: a classic Southern road trip from East Lake up I-75 to the Smoky Mountains hits Ocala horse country, Gainesville, and Chattanooga, about 700 scenic miles each way and worth every one.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?

Budgeting is easier than you might think. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes typically get 10 to 14 MPG, and larger Class A coaches average 7 to 10 MPG. Florida gas prices generally run close to the national average, with plenty of stations along US-19, SR-54, and the Suncoast Parkway near East Lake. For a typical week-long Florida trip covering 600 to 800 miles, plan roughly $200 to $400 in fuel depending on your rig. Pro tip: download the GasBuddy app and fill up at larger stations like Wawa or RaceTrac on your route, they often price lower than smaller stations near the beaches.

How far in advance should I book a campground near East Lake?

Pinellas County parks like Fort De Soto open reservations 6 months in advance through the county system. Private RV resorts like Bay Bayou or Encore Tarpon Springs typically open bookings 6 to 12 months out and are slightly easier to grab. For a spontaneous weekend, midweek availability is usually fine even in winter. Pro tip: create your ReserveAmerica account ahead of time, save your rig dimensions in your profile, and be logged in at 8:00 a.m. Eastern on the release date, prime Gulf-front weekends can disappear within minutes.

What are local driving conditions like around East Lake?

Driving an RV around East Lake is genuinely easy. The roads are flat, well-maintained, and lanes are wide on main arteries like East Lake Road, Keystone Road, and US-19. Watch for two local quirks: summer afternoon thunderstorms can bring heavy rain in 20-minute bursts (pull over and wait it out), and the Suncoast Parkway and Veterans Expressway are cashless toll roads, so make sure your rental has a SunPass transponder or ask the host how tolls are handled. Avoid driving through downtown Tampa or St. Pete during weekday rush hours (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.). Pro tip: the Dunedin Causeway to Honeymoon Island has a low-speed, scenic stretch perfect for easing into RV driving on day one.

You will find excellent infrastructure. Most private RV parks near East Lake (Bay Bayou, Encore Tarpon Springs, Sherwood Forest) offer full hookups with 30 and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. County and state parks like Anderson Park and Fort De Soto generally provide water and electric with central dump stations rather than sewer at every site. Potable water fill stations and dump stations are widely available, including at Fort De Soto and many Florida State Parks. Best campgrounds near East Lake for full resort amenities include Bay Bayou and Sherwood Forest RV Resort. Pro tip: if you are staying somewhere without sewer, many Pilot/Flying J locations along I-75 offer dump and freshwater fills for a small fee.

What features and amenities come standard in East Lake RV rentals?

Florida RVs are built for comfort. Most include a TV, many have outdoor speakers and awnings, and a generator is standard on most Class A and Class C motorhomes for off-grid power. Wi-Fi hotspots and solar panels are increasingly common, just check the amenities list on the listing page. Pro tip: filter by sleeps 6 or more for a family RV trip East Lake families love, and look for rigs with outdoor kitchens, they are perfect for grilling fresh Gulf shrimp at your campsite.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts offer plenty of helpful extras. Popular East Lake add-ons include kitchen kits, bedding and linen packages, camp chairs and tables, bike racks, kayaks and SUPs (a huge plus on the Gulf Coast), generators for trailers, and portable grills, each with a clearly listed flat fee on the booking page. Pickup is typically at the host's home in the East Lake, Palm Harbor, or Trinity area, or you can request delivery for a mileage-based fee. Mileage policies vary: some hosts offer 100 to 150 free miles per night, others offer unlimited, all shown on the listing. Pro tip: book the kayak add-on and put in at John Chesnut Sr. Park on Lake Tarpon, it is about 5 minutes from East Lake and one of the area's best-kept paddling spots.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure. When you book an RV rental in East Lake, RVezy charges your credit or debit card through their protected platform, no cash or off-platform transfers, ever. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is held separately from the booking payment and released back to your card after the rig is returned in good condition. The amount and timing are clearly shown before you confirm. Pro tip: take a quick video walkaround at pickup and again at drop-off, time-stamped on your phone. It takes 90 seconds and is one of the best ways to protect your deposit and keep your East Lake RV trip stress-free from start to finish.

Should I worry about hurricanes or summer storms on a Florida RV trip?

It is smart to plan ahead, and easy to do. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with peak activity August through October. For most of the year, you will have minimal weather worries on your East Lake RV trip. If a storm does threaten during your trip, RVezy's cancellation policy includes provisions for major weather events, and your host will work with you on changing pickup or return dates. Florida's emergency alerts are excellent: enable Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone and follow the National Weather Service Tampa Bay office. Pro tip: book between December and April to sidestep hurricane season, that is also when the Gulf water is clearest and the manatees gather at Three Sisters Springs in Crystal River.
