Carlos went out of his way to make everything work. It was an especially crowded weekend in Miami with a lot of traffic, and Carlos delivered the RV like a professional. The RV itself, is extremely accommodating. Our favorite part where the wonderful meals we had. My family really enjoyed it. Everything was as described or better. It came with bedding, and everything you need for a wonderful experience. Everything was perfectly clean, and smelled good, etc. Don't take that for granted, sometimes RVs have a little smell to them. Carlos keeps this one smelling fantastic. It was clean, it was nice, and I would highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Kendale Lakes, FL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Kendale Lakes, FL?
An RV rental in Kendale Lakes is often more affordable than booking hotel rooms for the whole family, especially when you're heading to Miami Beach or the Florida Keys. On RVezy, you'll generally find campervans and travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 a night, Class C motorhomes in the $175 to $250 range, and larger Class A rigs higher up. To stretch your budget on your Kendale Lakes RV trip, book on weekdays, travel during the summer shoulder months (June and September) when South Florida prices dip, and look for hosts with weekly discounts. Pro tip: filter for delivery to skip rental car costs entirely and have the RV waiting at Larry and Penny Thompson Park when you arrive.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kendale%20Lakes%2C%20FloridaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Kendale Lakes?
You're in luck: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Kendale Lakes, FL. Florida Statute 322.53 specifically exempts recreational vehicle drivers from Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requirements when the RV is used for personal use, so even larger Class A motorhomes are fair game. To book on RVezy you just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and you'll verify your ID through the platform in a few minutes. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home country license and you're set. Most first-time renters in Miami-Dade are surprised how quick and straightforward the process really is.
flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/commercial-motor-vehicle/What protection is included with my RVezy booking in Kendale Lakes?
Every RV rental in Kendale Lakes booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you can hit the Florida Turnpike with peace of mind. The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout (not the host) so you can pick what fits your comfort level and budget. Coverage details, limits, and deductibles vary by plan, so review them before you confirm. Pro tip: read the coverage details during booking and message the host with any questions before you confirm. That way you're set up for a stress-free Miami area trip from day one.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Kendale Lakes RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy on every reservation (hosts don't define this themselves), and there's a money-back grace period right after you book in case plans change. South Florida weather can be unpredictable, especially during Atlantic hurricane season from June 1 to November 30, and the specifics of any refund depend on how far out you cancel and the circumstances of the booking. The full policy details are spelled out on the RVezy Help Center and during checkout. Pro tip: lock in your dates early for peak winter season (December to April) when Miami area RVs book fast, knowing you have a cancellation window if life gets in the way.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV trip from Kendale Lakes?
Yes, and South Florida is one of the most dog-friendly regions in the country for it. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to find a pet-friendly RV rental in Kendale Lakes that welcomes your pup, then plan stops at places that do too. Larry and Penny Thompson Park in nearby Miami allows leashed dogs in the RV camping area, Matheson Hammock Park in Coral Gables welcomes leashed pets, and Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah has a popular off-leash dog park with shaded trails. The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk is also great for early morning or evening strolls with leashed dogs. Pro tip: message your host before booking to confirm any pet fees or breed notes so check-in goes smoothly.
miamidade.gov/global/parks/larry-and-penny-thompson-park.pageCan the RV be delivered to me in Kendale Lakes?
Yes, RV delivery in Kendale Lakes is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're flying into Miami International Airport (MIA) about 12 miles northeast. Many RVezy hosts will drop the motorhome at your hotel, your driveway off Kendall Drive, or directly at your campsite at Larry and Penny Thompson Park or Miami Everglades Resort. They'll level the rig, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. This is perfect if it's your first time renting an RV or if you'd rather skip city driving altogether. Pro tip: filter for Delivery on RVezy and message hosts about delivery fees to popular spots like Homestead or Florida City.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kendale%20Lakes%2C%20FloridaHow far can I travel from Kendale Lakes on a typical RV rental?
Plenty far. Most RVezy hosts in Kendale Lakes include a daily mileage allowance, and many offer RV rental with unlimited mileage as an add-on. From Kendale Lakes you can reach the main entrance of Everglades National Park in about 35 minutes (25 miles), Key Largo in roughly 1 hour 15 minutes (60 miles), Key West in about 3 hours 30 minutes (160 miles), Naples on the Gulf Coast in 2 hours (110 miles), and Orlando theme parks in about 3 hours 30 minutes (235 miles). Pro tip: if you're planning a longer RV road trip from Kendale Lakes (like a full Florida Keys run), ask your host about an unlimited-mileage package when you message them. It usually pays for itself by Marathon.
nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Kendale Lakes?
You're surrounded by great options for RV camping Kendale Lakes travelers love. Larry and Penny Thompson Park (12451 SW 184th St, about 15 minutes south) has hundreds of RV sites with full hookups next to Zoo Miami on a wooded property. Miami Everglades RV Resort in Homestead offers a pool, full hookups, and easy access to the national park. Boardwalk RV Resort in Homestead is another popular full-service option. Long Pine Key Campground inside Everglades National Park is ideal for nature lovers, with sites that accommodate RVs (no hookups). Pro tip: reserve Larry and Penny Thompson sites through Miami-Dade Parks well ahead of peak winter weekends.
miamidade.gov/global/parks/larry-and-penny-thompson-park.pageWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Kendale Lakes?
Here's the local secret: winter is the prime season for an RV rental in Kendale Lakes, FL, not summer. From mid-November through April, daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit, humidity drops, and mosquitoes calm down, making it ideal for Everglades trips and Florida Keys runs. May through October brings heat in the upper 80s and 90s, daily afternoon thunderstorms, and Atlantic hurricane season (June 1 to November 30). Shoulder months like late October and early May are the smart-money move: still warm enough for the beach, fewer crowds, and lower rates. Pro tip: book your winter motorhome rental Kendale Lakes trip by September. Snowbird demand fills the best rigs fast.
weather.gov/mfl/climateI've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Kendale Lakes?
Yes. First time renting an RV in Kendale Lakes? You're in good hands. Every RVezy host walks you through a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, covering driving, hookups, water tanks, slide-outs, propane, and the generator, so you're never figuring it out alone. South Florida is also one of the friendlier places to learn: roads around Kendall Drive and the Florida Turnpike are wide and flat with no mountain passes. If city driving makes you nervous, request delivery and let the host bring the RV straight to your campsite. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or smaller campervan for your first trip. They drive much like a large van and are easy to park at places like Larry and Penny Thompson Park.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my Kendale Lakes trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether you've got a flat tire on the Overseas Highway, a dead battery at Flamingo Campground, or a generator that won't start at Larry and Penny Thompson Park, help is one phone call away. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting (they know their rig better than anyone), and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: take a quick photo of your host's orientation walkthrough and save the roadside number to your phone before you leave Kendale Lakes. That way you're ready for anything the Florida Keys throws at you.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my RV across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?
Within the United States, yes. From Kendale Lakes you can road-trip up I-95 to Savannah, GA (about 7 hours), out to New Orleans (about 13 hours), or anywhere across the country with no extra paperwork. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection coverage, so message the host directly from the listing to confirm before you book. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because the protection coverage doesn't extend there. Most renters from Kendale Lakes stay in Florida anyway: the Keys, Big Cypress, Sanibel Island, and Orlando are all within easy reach. Pro tip: an RV road trip from Kendale Lakes up A1A to St. Augustine is a classic Florida coastal run with great state-park camping along the way.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Kendale Lakes?
Easier to plan than you'd think. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), campervans (Class B) get 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Florida gas prices typically run close to the national average, and you'll find plenty of stations along the Florida Turnpike and US-1 heading toward the Keys. For a 4-day round trip from Kendale Lakes to Key West and back (roughly 320 miles), budget around $100 to $160 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Florida City or Homestead before heading into the Keys. Gas prices climb noticeably once you cross Jewfish Creek into Key Largo.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Kendale Lakes?
For peak season (December through April), book your campsites as soon as you book your RV. Florida state parks like John Pennekamp Coral Reef in Key Largo and Bahia Honda in the Keys open reservations 11 months ahead through ReserveAmerica at FloridaStateParks.org and they sell out within minutes for winter dates. National Park Service sites at Flamingo and Long Pine Key in Everglades National Park book through Recreation.gov and Flamingo Adventures. Larry and Penny Thompson Park in Miami takes reservations by phone at 305-232-1049. Off-season (May through October) you can often find sites a week or two out. Pro tip: if Bahia Honda is full, set a calendar alert. Cancellations pop up daily, especially 7 to 14 days before arrival.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reserve-campsiteWhat's driving an RV around Kendale Lakes and Miami actually like?
More relaxed than you'd think, with a few smart moves. Kendale Lakes itself is flat suburban grid with wide streets, and the Florida Turnpike right next door makes getting in and out painless. Avoid I-95 and the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826) during rush hour (7 to 9 AM and 4 to 7 PM), watch for low clearances under 12 feet in downtown Miami and on US-1 in Coral Gables, and skip driving into Miami Beach with anything over 25 feet (parking is brutal). Summer afternoon thunderstorms are intense but short, so pull over and wait them out. Pro tip: for a campervan rental Kendale Lakes adventure, drop south on the Turnpike and you're in the Keys or the Everglades within an hour with no city traffic at all.
fl511.com/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Kendale Lakes?
Pretty solid across the board. Larry and Penny Thompson Park offers full hookups (electric, water, sewer) at its RV sites, plus bathhouses with laundry, a freshwater lake, and a swimming pool. Miami Everglades RV Resort has full hookups, a pool, WiFi, and a camp store. Long Pine Key inside the national park has potable water, flush toilets, and a dump station but no electric hookups (great for self-contained rigs). For dumping and filling water in the Kendale Lakes area, most full-service parks let day visitors use their dump station for a small fee. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving the Miami area. Potable fill stations in the Keys can have lines during peak season.
miamidade.gov/global/parks/larry-and-penny-thompson-park.pageWhat's actually inside an RV I rent in Kendale Lakes?
More than you'd expect, and South Florida hosts know how to equip a rig for the heat. Most RVezy listings in Kendale Lakes include a fully equipped kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, basic cookware), a bathroom with shower and toilet, sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on size, air conditioning (essential here), a TV, and seatbelted travel seats. Many hosts include a generator, outdoor awning, camping chairs, and a Bluetooth speaker. WiFi is sometimes provided via a hotspot add-on, but cell service through AT&T and Verizon is strong across Miami-Dade and most of the Keys. Pro tip: confirm AC capacity with your host. A properly sized rooftop AC is non-negotiable for July and August trips out of Kendale Lakes.
energy.gov/energysaver/central-air-conditioningWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Lots of flexibility here. When you rent an RV in Kendale Lakes, hosts commonly offer add-ons like bed and bath linens, kitchen kits, bikes, paddleboards, beach chairs, generators, portable grills, and WiFi hotspots, usually priced between $10 and $50 each. Mileage policies vary by host: some include 100 to 150 free miles per day, others offer unlimited mileage packages perfect for a long Keys run. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Kendale Lakes, often just off Kendall Drive or near the Turnpike, and delivery to MIA, your hotel, or a campground is widely available. Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens, and a kitchen kit. It's the closest thing to a turnkey, walk-in RV experience for first-timers.
miamidade.gov/global/transportation/airport.pageHow do payment and the security deposit work for a Kendale Lakes RV rental?
Simple and secure. You pay for your Kendale Lakes RV rental through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card (never directly to the host), which keeps your booking protected and your trip eligible for the renter protection plan and roadside assistance. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment around the start of your trip, and the amount depends on the RV and coverage level you choose at checkout. As long as the rig comes back in the same shape it left, with the agreed mileage and a clean interior, your deposit is released after the trip. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off (inside, outside, fuel gauge, odometer). It's the easiest way to keep your full deposit and avoid any surprises.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksAny insider tips for a family RV trip from Kendale Lakes?
Here's a local move most visitors miss: spend your first night at Larry and Penny Thompson Park right next to Zoo Miami (just 15 minutes from Kendale Lakes), then head south for the rest of your trip. It eases the family into RV life close to home, lets you knock out Zoo Miami on day one, and you can hit Everglades National Park's Anhinga Trail and Royal Palm at sunrise the next morning when wildlife is most active. From there, the Keys are wide open. A family RV trip Kendale Lakes itinerary that includes Bahia Honda State Park's beach (mile marker 37) is unforgettable. Pro tip: pack reef-safe sunscreen to help protect the coral you'll be snorkeling over at John Pennekamp.
