Carlos went out of his way to make everything work. It was an especially crowded weekend in Miami with a lot of traffic, and Carlos delivered the RV like a professional. The RV itself, is extremely accommodating. Our favorite part where the wonderful meals we had. My family really enjoyed it. Everything was as described or better. It came with bedding, and everything you need for a wonderful experience. Everything was perfectly clean, and smelled good, etc. Don't take that for granted, sometimes RVs have a little smell to them. Carlos keeps this one smelling fantastic. It was clean, it was nice, and I would highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Miami Lakes, FL

Renting an RV in Miami Lakes is more affordable than most travelers expect when you book through a peer-to-peer marketplace like RVezy. Travel trailers in the Miami Lakes area typically run about $110 to $180 per night, Class C motorhomes average around $180 to $250 per night, and larger Class A rigs trend higher. Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Miami Lakes?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Miami Lakes, no Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement required. Florida Statute 322.53 specifically exempts recreational vehicle drivers from CDL requirements for personal use, even on big Class A motorhomes. To book on RVezy, you simply need to be 25 or older with a valid driver's license, and your ID is verified through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association before you fly in, and you're good to go. Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised by how quick the verification step really is.

What protection is included when I rent an RV in Miami Lakes, FL?

Every RV rental in Miami Lakes booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head toward the Everglades or the Keys with confidence. RVezy offers multiple protection plan tiers, and you select the level of coverage that fits your trip during checkout, the host does not set this. Protection plans help cover physical damage to the RV during your rental period and are not traditional insurance, but they provide a strong financial safety net. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers carefully on the RVezy protection page before you confirm, especially if you are planning longer drives down to Key Largo or up to Orlando.

What if my plans change after I book a Miami Lakes RV rental?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every Miami Lakes RV rental. There is a grace period after booking that allows a full refund under qualifying conditions, and additional protections may apply for situations like named hurricanes, which matters in South Florida from June through November. Because the exact refund depends on how far out your trip is and the circumstances, review the current cancellation policy in the RVezy Help Center before you confirm. Pro tip: book early for snowbird season (December to March) to lock in the rig you want while you still have plenty of flexibility.

Can I bring my dog on a Miami Lakes RV trip?

Absolutely, and finding a pet-friendly RV rental Miami Lakes hosts offer is easy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings where dogs are welcome, sometimes for a small cleaning fee set by the host. Once you're rolling, Miami-Dade County has plenty of leash-friendly options: Amelia Earhart Park just south of Miami Lakes has a dedicated off-leash Bark Park, and Oleta River State Park (about 35 minutes east) allows leashed dogs on most trails. Larry and Penny Thompson Park's campground also welcomes pets at the campsite. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm breed or size guidelines, then pack a cooling mat because Florida pavement gets brutally hot by midday.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Miami Lakes?

Yes, RV delivery Miami Lakes is one of the most popular options, especially for first-timers who'd rather skip driving a big rig through Palmetto Expressway traffic. Many hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campground, Airbnb driveway, or even Miami International Airport (about 20 minutes south), set it up, connect hookups, and walk you through every system before they leave. Popular delivery destinations include Larry and Penny Thompson Park, Miami Everglades RV Resort in Homestead, and Markham Park in Sunrise. Delivery fees are set by the host and typically scale with distance. Pro tip: filter listings by Delivery on RVezy, then message a host to confirm they'll deliver to your exact destination, often including Key Largo for an extra fee.

How far can I drive on a Miami Lakes RV trip?

You've got incredible range from Miami Lakes, and many hosts offer generous daily mileage allowances or even an RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer adventures. Popular drives include Key Largo (about 70 miles, 1.5 hours via US-1), Key West (160 miles, around 4 hours), Everglades National Park's Flamingo Campground (90 miles south), Naples on the Gulf Coast (110 miles via Alligator Alley/I-75), and Orlando theme parks (235 miles up the Florida Turnpike). Each listing on RVezy clearly shows the included daily miles and the per-mile rate beyond that. Pro tip: if you're planning a Florida Keys loop, message the host upfront with your route so you can pick a listing with mileage that matches the trip without surprise overage fees.

Where are the best campgrounds near Miami Lakes?

You've got fantastic options for RV camping Miami Lakes travelers love, all within an hour's drive. Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park (about 30 minutes south near Zoo Miami) offers 240 RV sites with full hookups on 270 wooded acres. Miami Everglades RV Resort in Homestead has a pool, mini-golf, and easy access to both Everglades and Biscayne National Parks. C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines is great for families with its water park and lake. Markham Park in Sunrise offers wooded sites and a target range. Closer to the Keys, Boardwalk RV Resort in Homestead is a gated favorite. Pro tip: winter weekends fill fast (snowbirds!), so book through Miami-Dade Parks or the campground site at least 60 to 90 days ahead.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Miami Lakes?

The sweet spot for a Miami Lakes RV trip is mid-November through April, when daytime highs sit in the low 70s to low 80s, humidity drops, and mosquitoes back off, especially in the Everglades. This is also when Florida's state and national park campgrounds open all loops and the sunsets at Flamingo are unbeatable. May and early June are great shoulder months with lower rates before peak summer humidity kicks in. Summer (June through September) is hot (highs in the low 90s) and rainy with afternoon thunderstorms, plus it's hurricane season, so plan flexibility into your booking. Pro tip: target January or February if you want perfect weather, and reserve your RV at least two months out to beat snowbird demand.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Miami?

You'll be in great shape, even on your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host provides an in-person walkthrough at pickup covering driving basics, slide-outs, generator, water systems, and dump procedures, so you're never figuring it out alone. If Miami's highways feel intimidating, choose a Class B campervan or smaller Class C, both easy to handle on I-75 and the Turnpike. Even better, book a host who offers delivery, and you can skip driving the rig entirely until you reach your campground. Avoid the lower lanes of MacArthur Causeway and the older drawbridges in downtown Miami, where clearance can be tight. Pro tip: do a quick parking-lot loop right after pickup to get comfortable with the mirrors before you hit the road.
flhsmv.gov/safety-center/driving-safety/

What happens if something breaks down on my Miami Lakes RV trip?

You are covered: every RVezy booking with a protection plan includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on the Overseas Highway or a battery issue at Flamingo Campground gets handled quickly. One call connects you to dispatch for tows, jump-starts, lockouts, and tire changes. For questions specific to the RV (like resetting the inverter or operating the awning), your host is the best first contact and typically responds quickly through the RVezy app. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip if anything needs to be escalated. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before leaving Miami Lakes, and pin the host's number at the top of your messages.

Can I drive my Miami Lakes RV rental into other states or countries?

Yes, interstate trips are welcome on most RVezy bookings, making an RV road trip from Miami Lakes incredibly flexible. Popular routes include heading north up I-95 to St. Augustine and Savannah, or west on I-75 across Alligator Alley to Naples and Florida's Gulf Coast. Travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection package you select, so confirm before booking. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage doesn't extend there. The Bahamas isn't drivable, obviously, but you can RV down to Key Largo and park before catching a ferry. Pro tip: message your host with your full itinerary before booking so they can confirm mileage and any state-line specifics.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-go

What should I budget for fuel on a Miami Lakes RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable, but it's easy to estimate. Class C motorhomes around Miami Lakes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans 14 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG). Florida gas prices generally run near the national average, and you'll find the cheapest fuel at Costco in Miami Lakes (right off NW 57th Ave) or Sam's Club on Palmetto. A round-trip to Key West and back from Miami Lakes (around 320 miles) in a Class C averaging 10 MPG runs roughly $100 to $120 in gas. Pro tip: use the GasBuddy app to spot deals along US-1, and fill up before crossing into the Keys where prices jump.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Miami Lakes?

For winter trips (December through March), reserve your campsite 3 to 6 months out, that is when snowbirds claim the best spots in South Florida. Florida State Parks like Oleta River and John Pennekamp Coral Reef in Key Largo open reservations 11 months in advance through FloridaStateParks.org, and popular sites can disappear within minutes of the 8 a.m. ET release. Everglades National Park's Flamingo Campground is booked through Flamingo Adventures, also up to a year ahead. Miami-Dade County campgrounds like Larry and Penny Thompson accept reservations through the county parks portal. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the exact 11-month release date if you want a waterfront site at Pennekamp, they go almost instantly.

What's it like driving an RV around the Miami area?

With a little planning, driving around Miami Lakes is very manageable. Stick to I-75, the Florida Turnpike, and the Palmetto Expressway (SR-826), all wide, RV-friendly highways with clearances of at least 14 feet. Avoid the inner lanes of downtown Miami, South Beach, and Coconut Grove where streets are narrow and parking is brutal. The Rickenbacker Causeway to Key Biscayne has a height limit of 12 feet 6 inches on the upper deck, so check your RV height first. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can flood low-lying roads quickly, especially in Hialeah and Sweetwater. Pro tip: drive the Keys early in the morning when US-1 traffic is lightest, and you'll cruise past Key Largo before the day-trippers wake up.
fdot.gov/traffic/

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Miami Lakes?

South Florida campgrounds are well-equipped for a smooth stay. Most full-service parks like Miami Everglades RV Resort and Larry and Penny Thompson offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, hot showers, and pools, a real treat after a day in the Everglades. Dump stations are widely available at private parks and at the Flamingo Campground in Everglades National Park. Fresh water fills are standard at every site with hookups. Cell signal is strong throughout Miami-Dade but gets spotty deep in the Everglades and parts of the Keys. Pro tip: pack a backup mobile hotspot if you're working remotely, and bring a surge protector, summer thunderstorms can spike park power.
nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/flamingo-campground.htm

What features and amenities come standard in a Miami Lakes RV?

Most RVs available for a motorhome rental Miami Lakes guests book come fully equipped for the South Florida climate: roof-mounted air conditioning (essential here), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower, comfortable beds for 2 to 8 sleepers, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Many listings include a generator, awning, outdoor speakers, and a flat-screen TV; some larger Class A motorhomes throw in washer/dryers and king beds. Wi-Fi varies by listing; campervan rental Miami Lakes options often include cellular hotspots. Pro tip: check the listing photos and amenity checklist carefully, and message the host to confirm specifics like child car-seat anchors or pet bowls before booking.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicles

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts offering an RV rental in Miami Lakes typically provide flexible pickup, drop-off, and add-on options. Common add-ons include linens and bedding kits, kitchen packages, camp chairs, bikes, paddleboards, generators, propane refills, and pre-stocked groceries, each with their own host-set fee. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Miami Lakes, Hialeah, or Doral, and many hosts offer delivery to Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport, or your campground. Mileage policies vary: some hosts include 100 to 150 miles per day, others offer unlimited mileage, all clearly listed on the listing page. Pro tip: bundle add-ons with the host upfront, it's almost always cheaper than buying gear separately for a single trip.
miamidade.gov/global/transportation/airport.page

How does payment and the security deposit work for a Miami Lakes RV rental?

Payment is handled securely through RVezy at the time you book, with no cash exchanged with the host. You will see the full breakdown up front: nightly rate, protection plan, taxes, delivery (if applicable), and any add-ons. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is placed as a temporary hold on your card before the trip, then released after a successful return, typically within a few days. Deposit amounts vary by listing and are clearly shown before you confirm. Pro tip: do a thorough walkthrough with photos at pickup and return, follow the host's fuel and tank instructions, and keep all communication on the RVezy app so there is a clear record protecting both sides.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Are there RVs available year-round, even during hurricane season?

Yes, RV rental Florida availability runs all 12 months in Miami Lakes, including summer and hurricane season (June 1 through November 30). Many travelers actually love this window for lower rates and quieter campgrounds, just plan with the National Hurricane Center forecast in mind. If a named storm threatens South Florida, RVezy's cancellation protections kick in for qualifying weather events, and hosts are generally very accommodating about rescheduling. Summer is also ideal for early-morning Everglades airboat tours and stargazing at Long Pine Key, where the night sky is stunning. Pro tip: book travel insurance for July through October trips, monitor NHC.gov daily as your trip approaches, and have a flexible Plan B campground inland (like Markham Park) if coastal conditions shift.
