This was our first campervan rental (actually, it was our first Campervan trip of any kind) and it has really inspired us do it again. Renting from Linda was easy. She was very responsive to any questions we had about the process and what was included. The van was amazing. Spotlessly clean with everything we needed to make our trip easy. The walk through was informative and Linda answered all our questions. We could not have been happier with our experience. We'll be renting again for sure!

Derek’s rig was absolutely perfect for our week's getaway to Fort De Soto. I highly recommend booking with him. Derek is exceptionally friendly, quick to communicate, and genuinely great to work with. The rig itself was spotless, well-equipped, and everything functioned exactly as it should. Both pickup and drop off were seamless and stress-free. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish.

We had a great time, and the RV definitely helped with that! We went to a charity campout that allows RVs. It was so nice to spend time in Tampa and have a comfortable bed and A/C to come back to. Gary was easy to work with, the RV use was reasonably priced, and I will call on him again!

Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Tierra Verde for nearly every rig listed on RVezy. Florida's standard Class E driver's license covers recreational vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) up to 26,000 pounds, which includes virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on the platform. What protection is included when I rent an RV in Tierra Verde?

Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can roll across the Pinellas Bayway feeling fully supported on your Tierra Verde RV trip. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip and gives you real peace of mind. During checkout you choose your protection level (different tiers offer different deductibles and coverage limits), and that choice is yours, not the host's. Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Tierra Verde?

Absolutely, and Tierra Verde is one of the most dog-friendly RV destinations on Florida's Gulf Coast. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to find a pet-friendly RV rental in Tierra Verde quickly, just message the host any details about your pup before booking. Fort De Soto Park allows leashed dogs at sites 86 through 164, and it has its very own Paw Playground dog beach where dogs can run off-leash right into the Gulf, one of only a handful in Florida. Pro tip: bring a freshwater rinse jug for paws (saltwater plus sand equals itchy feet) and you'll have one very happy co-pilot.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Tierra Verde?

Yes, RV delivery in Tierra Verde is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. Summer (June through September) is hot and humid with highs around 88°F, daily afternoon thunderstorms, and active hurricane season, your RV's air conditioning will be working overtime. I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

Pro tip: practice a few left turns in a quiet parking lot near 4th Street South before tackling the Pinellas Bayway toll bridge, you'll feel like a pro by the time you reach the campground.

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

For anything bigger, RVezy support is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before pickup, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate.

What are the best RV road trips from Tierra Verde?

An RV road trip from Tierra Verde unlocks some of the best driving in Florida. Head south about 40 miles to Siesta Key and Sarasota for white quartz-sand beaches, continue roughly 130 miles to Naples and the western edge of the Everglades, or push down to Key West (about 350 miles via the legendary Overseas Highway) for a true bucket-list run. Heading north, Crystal River (about 90 miles) is famous for swimming with manatees, and Cedar Key (about 130 miles) is a charming old Florida fishing village. How much should I budget for fuel on a Tierra Verde RV trip?

Fuel is usually the biggest variable in your budget, and the good news is Florida gas prices typically run slightly below the national average. A Class B campervan rental Tierra Verde gets around 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), a Class C averages 8 to 12 MPG, and a Class A or large fifth wheel hovers around 6 to 10 MPG. For a typical 300-mile week loop around Pinellas and Sarasota, plan on roughly $80 to $200 in fuel depending on rig size. Pro tip: the Wawa on Pinellas Bayway in St. Pete Beach is a popular fuel and snack stop on the way back to the Skyway, easy in-and-out with a motorhome.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Tierra Verde?

Book early, especially for Fort De Soto. Non-residents of Pinellas County can reserve a site exactly six months in advance through the official county system at explore.pinellas.gov, and waterfront RV sites (86 through 236, with 30/50 amp service) often sell out the moment the booking window opens. Pinellas County residents get a seven-month head start. For private parks like the St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA or Sun Outdoors St. Petersburg, three to four months ahead is usually safe outside of peak snowbird season. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for 8:00 a.m. on your six-month-out date, log in 10 minutes early, and have your dates and site preferences ready to lock in instantly.

What are local driving conditions like around Tierra Verde?

Driving an RV around Tierra Verde is refreshingly easy, the terrain is flat (you're at sea level), the roads are wide, and there's no winter weather to worry about. The main route in and out is the Pinellas Bayway (FL-679 and FL-682), a low-speed causeway with toll plazas that accept SunPass and toll-by-plate. The big-picture landmark is the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on I-275, which carries RVs but can get gusty, check the FDOT wind advisory before you cross. Avoid downtown St. Pete's narrow side streets and the parking decks at The Pier with anything over 7 feet tall. Pro tip: summer afternoon thunderstorms roll in fast, plan driving for mornings.
fdot.gov/traffic/

What amenities should I expect at Tierra Verde campgrounds?

Local campgrounds are well equipped for a comfortable stay. Fort De Soto Park offers water and 30/50 amp electric hookups at every site, modern restrooms with hot showers, laundry (bring quarters, the park is otherwise cashless), a dump station, Wi-Fi at the camp store, and a small store selling firewood, ice, and groceries. Note that Fort De Soto does not have sewer at the site, you'll use the on-site dump station before departure. Private parks like the St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA add full sewer hookups, pools, and dog runs. Pro tip: fill your freshwater tank at the entrance station on the way in so you're not dragging a hose around a sandy site.
pinellas.gov/parks/fort-de-soto-park/

What's included inside the RV itself?

Tierra Verde rentals come ready to roll. Expect a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, propane or induction stove, microwave, sink, and basic cookware; a wet bath or full bathroom with toilet and shower; sleeping for anywhere from 2 to 10 depending on the floor plan; air conditioning (essential here, summer heat indexes hit 102°F); and seatbelts for everyone traveling while driving. Many motorhome rental Tierra Verde listings also include a generator, outdoor speakers, a flat-screen TV, and onboard Wi-Fi or a 4G hotspot. Linens, towels, and kitchen kits are often add-ons, check the listing's amenities section. Pro tip: filter by 'sleeps count' to make sure every traveler has a real bed, not a converted dinette.
nhtsa.gov/equipment/recreational-vehicles

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

RVezy hosts in Tierra Verde offer some genuinely useful add-ons: delivery and setup (often $2 to $5 per mile from the host's base), generator hours, propane refill, bike racks, kayaks and paddleboards (handy for the Fort De Soto paddle trail), portable grills, bedding and towel kits, and pet packages. Pickup is typically at the host's home in St. Pete, Tierra Verde, or nearby Gulfport, and most hosts schedule a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough. Mileage allowances are listed clearly on each listing. Pro tip: bundle a kayak and a beach gear pack with delivery to Fort De Soto, you'll roll into the campground with everything already set up and a paddle launch just steps away.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment on RVezy is straightforward and secure: you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, with no cash exchanged at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before your trip and is separate from your booking payment. As long as the RV is returned in the same condition per the host's terms, the hold is released after dropoff, typically within a few business days. The deposit amount is shown clearly before you book. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video with your host at both pickup and dropoff in Tierra Verde, time-stamped footage protects everyone and keeps your deposit return smooth.
