Do I need a special license to rent an RV in East Riverdale, Maryland?

Good news, a regular driver's license is all most renters need to rent an RV in East Riverdale, MD. Maryland only requires a non-commercial Class B license for motorhomes with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) above 26,001 pounds, and virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on RVezy falls well below that. You will need to be 25 or older with a valid license, which gets verified quickly through the platform during booking. International visitors should grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from their local auto club before flying in. Most first-timers are surprised how simple the paperwork is once they start their Maryland RV trip.

Book sooner than you think. Greenbelt Park Campground opens reservations 6 months in advance on Recreation.gov, and summer weekends sell out within hours of the booking window opening. Private parks such as Cherry Hill Park in College Park and Washington D.C. / Capitol KOA fill 2 to 4 months ahead for peak weekends but often have weeknight openings even in summer. Pro tip: if you strike out at Greenbelt, set a Recreation.gov alert and check daily, last-minute cancellations are common 1 to 2 weeks out.

What are the local driving conditions like around East Riverdale?

Driving here is manageable with a little planning. East Riverdale sits just inside the Capital Beltway (I-495), so plan to avoid rush hour (7 to 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 7 p.m.) when traffic stacks up on I-495, I-95, and Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Watch for the Baltimore-Washington Parkway's 12-foot height limit at some tunnels and bridges, and avoid driving large RVs into downtown D.C. where streets are narrow and parking is restricted. Pro tip: use the Capital Beltway's outer loop late morning or after 8 p.m. to escape the city smoothly, and consider delivery from your host to skip metro driving entirely on day one.

Cherry Hill Park in College Park has full water, electric, and sewer hookups plus laundry, a heated pool, and Wi-Fi. Washington D.C. / Capitol KOA offers full hookups, a jumping pillow, and a pool. Most Maryland state parks have potable water spigots and a dump station near the entrance. Pro tip: ask your host if they include a fresh water hose, sewer hose, and surge protector. Most include these so you can roll into any campground ready to hook up.
