Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Greater Landover, MD

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Greater Landover, MD?

RV rental in Landover is often more affordable than hotels in the DC metro area. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Landover area typically start around $90 to $150 per night, campervans run $150 to $225, and larger Class A or Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $375 per night. Booking midweek or in shoulder seasons like late April or October can save 15 to 25 percent off peak summer rates. Pro tip for a cheap RV rental in Landover: filter by travel trailers if you already have a tow vehicle, or look for hosts offering weekly discounts when you stretch your trip past five nights.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Maryland?

Good news: for nearly every RV you can rent on RVezy in Landover, a regular Class C driver's license is all you need. Maryland only requires a non-commercial Class B license if the RV's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating exceeds 26,000 pounds, which is heavier than the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers listed on the platform. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified during the booking process, so there is no paperwork to mail in. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit and you are set to rent an RV in Maryland.

What if I need to cancel my Landover RV rental?

Plans change, and RVezy is built to handle that. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every booking, and the same policy applies across the platform, so you do not have to compare cancellation terms listing by listing. Refund amounts depend on factors like how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. Book your Landover RV trip with confidence today, and if life happens, RVezy customer support is a message away to help sort things out.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway?

Yes, RV delivery in Landover is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to Cherry Hill Park in College Park, Greenbelt Park, Duncan's Family Campground in Lothian, or even your home driveway in Prince George's County. They will level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter to see hosts offering this service, and message them with your destination address so they can quote a delivery fee. It turns a Landover RV trip into a true plug-and-play vacation.

Where are the best campgrounds near Landover, MD?

You are spoiled for choice on great campgrounds near Landover. Greenbelt Park, run by the National Park Service just a few miles north, offers 172 wooded, budget-friendly sites with a dump station. Duncan's Family Campground in Lothian (about 30 miles southeast) is a family favorite with a lake and mini-golf. Pro tip: Cherry Hill and Greenbelt book up fast for spring weekends, so reserve as soon as your dates are firm.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Landover?

Spring (mid-April through early June) and fall (mid-September through late October) are the sweet spots for RV camping in Landover. Daytime highs sit comfortably in the 65 to 78 degree range, humidity drops, and the cherry blossoms, dogwoods, and fall foliage along the Potomac and the Catoctin Mountains make every drive scenic. Summer (late June through August) brings 85 to 95 degree heat and Mid-Atlantic humidity, but it is prime beach season for Assateague and Ocean City. Winters are mild but variable, with January lows around 25 degrees. Local insider tip: target the last two weeks of October for crisp air, smaller crowds, and peak color along Skyline Drive, about two hours west.

I have never rented an RV before. Will I actually be okay?

Yes, and first-time renters make up a big share of bookings in the Landover area. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, propane, water systems, and dump procedures. They share their phone number for questions mid-trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with your protection plan. If city driving makes you nervous, pick a Class B campervan or a 24-foot Class C, which handle nearly like a large SUV, or book delivery so you skip driving in DC traffic entirely. Pro tip for first time renting an RV: do a short shakedown night at Greenbelt Park before heading farther, so you can practice systems close to home.

What happens if something goes wrong on the road?

You are never on your own. Every Landover RV rental on RVezy comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included with the renter protection plan, covering services like tire changes, jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing. If a slide-out will not retract at Cherry Hill Park or your generator quits halfway to Assateague, call roadside dispatch first, then message your host who knows the rig inside and out. RVezy's customer support team is also reachable before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a photo of the VIN, plate, and host contact info at pickup and save it to your phone so help can be dispatched quickly if you need it.

Can I take my Landover RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is the whole point of an RV road trip from Landover, and you are perfectly positioned for it. You can drive your rental into Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, or up through New York and into New England without extra paperwork. Cross-border trips into Canada may be allowed depending on the specific host and insurance arrangements, so message the host directly before booking if Niagara or Quebec City is on your list. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular nearby routes include Landover to the Outer Banks (about 6 hours), Acadia National Park (about 12 hours), and the Blue Ridge Parkway (about 3 hours).

What kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?

Budgeting for a Landover RV trip is straightforward once you know the numbers. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, Class A motorhomes 7 to 10 MPG, and a truck towing a travel trailer usually gets 10 to 14 MPG. Gas prices in Prince George's County typically run close to the national average, and you will find lower prices at Costco in Beltsville or Wawa stations along US-50 and the Capital Beltway. Pro tip: fill up before crossing into DC or northern Virginia where prices tend to spike, and use a fuel-finder app along your route. Most renters budget $40 to $90 per travel day for fuel.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Landover?

Book early and you will never be stuck. For summer weekends and holidays, reserve Maryland state park sites the moment your booking window opens on the Maryland Park Service reservation system, and book national park sites like Assateague Island National Seashore and Shenandoah on Recreation.gov as soon as your six-month window opens. Private parks like Cherry Hill Park typically open bookings up to 12 months ahead. For shoulder-season midweek stays, two to four weeks is usually plenty. Local insider tip: Assateague campsites for peak summer dates open exactly six months ahead on Recreation.gov and sell out within minutes, so set a calendar alert.

What are driving conditions like around Landover and DC?

Driving an RV around Landover is very manageable if you time it right and use the right routes. The Capital Beltway (I-495) and Baltimore-Washington Parkway can get heavy from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. on weekdays, so plan departures mid-morning or after 7 p.m. Several DC parkways including Rock Creek Parkway and the George Washington Memorial Parkway restrict commercial vehicles and large RVs, so stick to I-95, I-495, US-50, and I-270 for easy big-rig routing. Local insider tip: most DC parking garages cap at well under 7 feet, so park your RV at Greenbelt Metro and ride the Green Line into the city.
nps.gov/gwmp/planyourvisit/things2know.htm

What should I expect at campgrounds for hookups, dumping, and fresh water?

Campgrounds near Landover make logistics easy. Cherry Hill Park and Duncan's Family Campground both offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer) at most sites, so you can stay parked for days without dumping. Greenbelt Park has a dump station and potable water fill near the campground area, though individual sites are non-hookup. If you are boondocking or staying somewhere primitive, you can dump and refill at Cherry Hill Park for a small fee even as a non-guest, and several Maryland Welcome Centers along I-95 have RV-friendly facilities. Pro tip: dump tanks the morning you leave (not the night before) so you start fresh, and always wear gloves and use the campground's hose, not your drinking-water hose.
nps.gov/gree/planyourvisit/campground.htm

What amenities come with a typical RV rental in Landover?

Most motorhome rentals in Landover come fully outfitted so you can move in and travel. Expect a real bed (often a queen plus convertible dinette or bunks), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, furnace heat, and seatbelts for travel passengers. Many listings include a generator, outdoor awning, TV, and Bluetooth stereo, and a growing number of campervan rentals in Landover offer solar power and built-in WiFi hotspots. Check each listing's amenity list to match sleep count and features to your group. Pro tip: message the host to confirm linens, towels, and kitchen starter kits are included so you only pack what you actually need.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Greater%20Landover%2C%20Maryland

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts in Landover typically offer a menu of useful add-ons priced à la carte: delivery and setup (often $2 to $5 per mile), generator hours, propane fills, linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, and pet cleaning fees. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Prince George's County or nearby DC suburbs, with a 30 to 60 minute orientation. Drop-off is generally same-location and same-time, though some hosts allow flexible windows for a fee. Mileage policies vary, so confirm both the daily mileage allowance and the per-mile overage rate up front. Pro tip: bundle add-ons during booking instead of at pickup so everything is documented and priced in writing.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment on RVezy is simple and secure. You pay through the platform with a credit or debit card when you book, never directly to the host in cash, which keeps you protected. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) shortly before your trip starts, and it is released back to your card after drop-off once the host confirms the RV came back in the same condition. To avoid deposit hiccups: take date-stamped photos and a quick video walkaround at pickup and drop-off, return the RV with fuel and propane at the level the host requested, and dump the tanks if your agreement requires it.
