Hibiscus was amazing! It was nice and clean when we rented it and was fully stocked with everything you would need while camping dished, cookwares, silverware, and even chairs and an outdoor rug! Gary and his wife made sure that we would have a great trip. It was super easy to hook it up and the camp grounds. It drove great and was easier than expected and got even better gas mileage than we expected. I will most definitely be booking with Gary again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Woodlawn, MD

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Woodlawn, MD?

RV rental in Woodlawn is an affordable way to explore the Mid-Atlantic. On RVezy, most travel trailers in the Woodlawn and greater Baltimore area run roughly $90 to $175 per night, campervans and Class B rentals land around $150 to $250, and larger Class A or Class C motorhomes typically range from $200 to $350 nightly. Weekly bookings often unlock host discounts of 10 to 20 percent. For a cheap RV rental in Woodlawn, target shoulder months like April, May, or late September when demand around Baltimore softens. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and aim for Sunday through Thursday pickups, when many local hosts drop weeknight rates.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Woodlawn, Maryland?

For just about every RV you can rent in Woodlawn, your regular driver's license is all you need. Maryland only requires a non-commercial Class B license for motorhomes with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,001 pounds, which is essentially the biggest Class A diesel pushers. The Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels that make up the vast majority of RVezy listings in Maryland all fall well under that threshold. You will need to be 25 or older and upload your valid driver's license through the RVezy platform so we can verify it. Visiting from abroad? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit and you are ready to roll.

Is my RV rental protected if something goes wrong on the trip?

Yes, every RV rental in Woodlawn booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV, so a stone chip on I-695 or a scrape backing into a wooded site at Patapsco Valley State Park will not derail your trip. RVezy offers multiple protection tiers and you, the guest, choose the level of coverage during the booking process (hosts do not select it for you). This is not a standard auto insurance policy, but it provides meaningful financial peace of mind. Book confidently knowing the safety net is built into your Baltimore RV trip.

What is the cancellation policy if my plans change?

Plans change, and renting an RV in Woodlawn should not feel risky. RVezy sets the cancellation policy across all bookings (it is not chosen by individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates. Refund eligibility after the grace period depends on how far out your trip start date is. You will see your specific refund window at checkout and in your RVezy dashboard, so you can book today, hold your dates, and finalize the trip details when you are ready.

Can I bring my dog on a Woodlawn RV rental?

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Woodlawn is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you will see plenty of Class C motorhomes and travel trailers whose hosts welcome dogs (some allow cats too). Once you have your rig, your pup has options: the Avalon, Orange Grove, Glen Artney, McKeldin, and Hollofield areas of Patapsco Valley State Park all allow leashed pets, and the Avalon side has wide riverside paths perfect for morning walks. Note that pets are not allowed inside the Hilton Area campground loop. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and ask about their favorite local dog-friendly trails.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Woodlawn?

Yes, RV delivery in Woodlawn is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who would rather skip Baltimore Beltway driving. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy and you will see hosts who can drop the RV at your campsite or driveway. Most local hosts deliver within a 30 to 50 mile radius of Woodlawn, covering popular spots like Patapsco Valley State Park, Cunningham Falls State Park, and parts of the Eastern Shore. Delivery fees are typically a per-mile rate or a flat rate set by the host. Bonus: the host levels the RV, hooks up power and water, and walks you through every system before they leave.

How far can I travel from Woodlawn on a typical RV trip?

Woodlawn's location just off I-695 makes it a launch pad for great road trips. Popular RV road trips from Woodlawn include Assateague Island National Seashore (about 145 miles east, around 3 hours), Shenandoah National Park in Virginia (about 130 miles southwest, 2.5 hours), Cunningham Falls State Park near Thurmont (about 50 miles north, under an hour), Gettysburg National Military Park (about 55 miles north), and Ocean City, MD for the beach crowd (about 145 miles). Where are the best campgrounds near Woodlawn, MD?

You have great options for RV camping in Woodlawn within an hour's drive. Patapsco Valley State Park (about 8 miles south) is Maryland's first state park with 16,000 acres along the Patapsco River and the Hilton and Hollofield camping loops. Ramblin' Pines Family Campground in Woodbine (about 25 miles west) has full hookups, a pool, and easy access to Frederick. Bar Harbor RV Park on the Bush River in Abingdon (about 35 miles northeast) offers waterfront sites. Cherry Hill Park in College Park (about 30 miles south) is the closest full-service RV resort to Washington, DC. For a coastal escape, Assateague State Park's oceanfront RV sites are about 2.5 hours away. Pro tip: book Patapsco Valley sites on parkreservations.maryland.gov up to 365 days in advance.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Woodlawn?

Late April through mid-June and September through late October are the sweet spots for a Woodlawn RV trip. Spring brings 60 to 75 degree days, blooming dogwoods through Patapsco Valley, and far fewer mosquitoes. Fall is arguably the best season with crisp 50 to 70 degree days, peak foliage along the Patapsco River in mid-to-late October, and easier campground bookings. July and August are warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, so prioritize RVs with strong air conditioning. Winter trips are absolutely doable too, with milder weather than the Northeast and many local campgrounds open year-round, just confirm the rig has heated tanks if temperatures dip below freezing.

I have never rented an RV before. Will I actually be able to drive it?

Yes, and most first-time renters in Woodlawn are surprised how quickly it clicks. If this is your first time renting an RV, start with a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer in the 20 to 25 foot range; they drive a lot like a tall pickup truck. Every RVezy host gives a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, the generator, slide-outs, plumbing, propane, and dump procedures, and most are happy to do a slow practice loop with you before you leave. You can also message the host any time during the trip through the RVezy app. If Baltimore Beltway traffic feels intimidating, book delivery and skip the city driving entirely.

What happens if I have a breakdown or roadside issue?

You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Woodlawn booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified service location. From Woodlawn, that means help can reach you along I-695, I-70, I-95, or out toward Assateague. If something mechanical comes up, your first call is the RVezy support line, and your second is the host (their number is right in the app) since they know their RV best. Save both numbers in your phone before pickup and roll out worry-free.

Can I take the RV across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is the whole point of an RV road trip from Woodlawn, and most hosts welcome it. Maryland sits at a crossroads, so you can easily explore Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, and Washington, DC without special arrangements. Trips into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the insurance, so always confirm in a message before booking if you are planning a longer northern adventure. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the insurance does not extend across that border. Pro tip: a classic loop from Woodlawn hits Gettysburg, the Pocono Mountains, and the Finger Lakes in about a week.

What should I budget for fuel on a Woodlawn RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable cost, so plan ahead and you will be fine. Regular unleaded in the Baltimore-Columbia-Towson area has been averaging around $3.60 to $4.15 per gallon in 2026, and diesel runs about $1 more. Realistic fuel economy is roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class A, 10 to 14 for a Class C, 15 to 20 for a Class B campervan, and 12 to 16 for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. For a 500-mile weekend loop in a Class C, budget around $150 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: gas stations along US-40 and US-1 just outside Woodlawn often beat Baltimore Beltway prices by 10 to 20 cents per gallon.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Woodlawn?

For the best campgrounds near Woodlawn, earlier is always better. Maryland state parks like Patapsco Valley, Cunningham Falls, and Assateague open reservations up to 365 days in advance through parkreservations.maryland.gov, and the most popular weekends (Memorial Day, July 4, and fall foliage) sell out within minutes of opening. For private campgrounds like Ramblin' Pines or Bar Harbor RV Park, 2 to 3 months ahead is usually plenty outside holidays. If you are a more spontaneous traveler, target Sunday through Thursday arrivals and you will find sites available even in peak season. Pro tip: set a reminder for 9 a.m. Eastern exactly 12 months before your desired arrival date to grab the prime riverside sites at Patapsco.

What are the local driving conditions like around Woodlawn?

Woodlawn driving is very manageable, especially once you know a few local tricks. Woodlawn sits right off Exit 17 of I-695 (the Baltimore Beltway), so plan your departure outside rush hour, which runs roughly 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. Avoid downtown Baltimore in any RV taller than 11 feet because of low bridges and tunnel restrictions; the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) and Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895) both prohibit propane-equipped vehicles, so use the Key Bridge route on I-695 or the Beltway around the city instead. Terrain is gently rolling, roads are well-maintained, and within 60 to 90 minutes you can be in genuine countryside heading west toward the Catoctin Mountains.
roads.maryland.gov/

What amenities will I find at campgrounds around Woodlawn?

You will find a healthy mix to match your style. Private parks like Ramblin' Pines and Bar Harbor RV Park offer full hookups (30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer at the site), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, dump stations, and pools. Maryland state parks tend to be more rustic: Patapsco Valley's Hilton and Hollofield areas have electric hookups at many sites plus a central dump station and water fill, but no sewer at the pad. For free dump stations along your route, Cherry Hill Park in College Park and several Pilot/Flying J locations along I-95 are reliable stops. Fresh water fills are easy to find at any campground host station. Pro tip: arrive before 4 p.m. so you have daylight for setup.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/pages/parkfees.aspx

What is actually inside the RVs available in Woodlawn?

More than you would expect. Most motorhome rentals in Woodlawn sleep 4 to 8 people and come stocked with a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with a toilet and shower, climate control with both air conditioning and a furnace, a dinette that often converts to a bed, and a queen-size primary bed. Many include a flat-screen TV, an onboard generator, outdoor speakers, and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Wi-Fi is hit or miss, so most renters bring a hotspot or rely on cellular. Class B campervan rentals in Woodlawn are smaller but cleverly designed with all the same essentials plus better fuel economy. Each listing on RVezy shows a full feature list and photos so you know exactly what you are getting.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Most hosts in Woodlawn make it easy to customize your trip. Popular add-ons include linen and bedding packages, kitchen kits with pots, plates, and utensils, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, propane fills, additional generator hours, bike racks, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Pickup is typically at the host's home in the Woodlawn, Catonsville, Pikesville, or Owings Mills area, with a thorough walkthrough that takes 30 to 60 minutes. Mileage policies usually include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles billed per mile by the host. Pro tip: ask about a one-way drop-off if you are headed to Ocean City or Shenandoah; some hosts offer it for an additional fee.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment on RVezy is straightforward and fully online, so there is no awkward cash handoff at pickup in Woodlawn. You pay your full booking total (rental, protection, taxes, and any add-ons) securely through the platform with a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit, set by the host, is held as a temporary authorization on your card before the trip starts and released after the trip if the RV is returned in the same condition. The deposit is there to cover small items outside the protection plan, like a missing camp chair or extra cleaning. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off for your own records.

Is Woodlawn a good base for a family RV trip?

Woodlawn is one of the best spots in the Mid-Atlantic for a family RV trip. You are about 20 minutes from the Inner Harbor's National Aquarium, 30 minutes from Fort McHenry National Monument (the birthplace of the Star-Spangled Banner), close to the Maryland Zoo and the Maryland Science Center, and under an hour from Annapolis. Need nature fast? Patapsco Valley State Park has tubing on the river, the Orange Grove swinging bridge, and easy family hiking. Many RVezy listings in the area sleep 6 to 8, and Cherry Hill Park (about 30 miles south) is consistently rated one of the most family-friendly RV resorts on the East Coast. Book delivery and the trip starts the moment the host drives away.
