The success of platforms like RVezy depends on people, not just campers. We found in Lena a host who was quick to respond, thorough, accommodating and pleasant. Arranging for pickup was easy, and her complete walkthrough of towing hookup and campground setup was very helpful. She has the unit fully outfitted with everything needed for sleeping, cooking and showering, etc. We had set aside a number of items to bring that we were able to leave at home. There's even a red binder inside with instructions for all the systems, While the camper is a couple years old, it's really only the outside that shows any minor wear from normal exposure to the elements. Everything worked as we needed it to. In all, this was a great solution for our annual group camping trip, this year to Willow River State Park. Highly recommend this host.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Falcon Heights, MN

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Falcon Heights, MN?

RV rental in Falcon Heights is more affordable than most people expect. Motorhomes near the Twin Cities typically average around $200 to $250 per night, while towable trailers go for about $100 to $150 per night, and many hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts. Because Falcon Heights sits right next to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, prices climb during the 12-day fair in late August, so booking 3 to 6 months ahead locks in the best rates. For a cheap RV rental in Falcon Heights, target May, early June, or late September when demand drops but the weather is still beautiful. Pro tip: filter for travel trailers if you already have an SUV or pickup, since they are the most budget-friendly option in the Twin Cities market.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Falcon Heights?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Falcon Heights for nearly every rig on the platform. Minnesota's standard Class D license covers personal-use vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or less, which includes virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel listed on RVezy. Recreational vehicles used for personal trips are also exempt from Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requirements in Minnesota. On RVezy, you just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and your ID is verified during the booking flow. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home-country license and an International Driving Permit and you are ready to roll.

Is my Falcon Heights RV rental protected if something happens?

Every RV rental in Falcon Heights comes with peace of mind built in. Each booking on RVezy automatically includes a protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered for eligible accidental damage to the vehicle from the moment you drive away. During checkout you will choose the protection level that fits your trip, from basic to premium coverage with lower out-of-pocket responsibility. Hosts cannot change or downgrade the coverage you select. Pro tip: if you are taking a longer Minnesota RV trip up to the North Shore or Boundary Waters, the higher-tier protection is worth the small daily upcharge.

What if I need to cancel my Falcon Heights RV booking?

Booking an RV rental in Falcon Heights is low-risk because RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy that applies platform-wide. Refunds depend on how far in advance of your trip you cancel, and RVezy may also provide additional support in cases like severe Minnesota weather or other extenuating circumstances. Because the policy is consistent across listings, you will not find conflicting rules from one host to the next. If your plans change, just open your RVezy booking and start the cancellation from there. Pro tip: if you are coming for the Minnesota State Fair in late August, book early so you have your pick of rigs, and review the cancellation timeline in your confirmation as soon as your plans firm up.

Can I bring my dog on a Falcon Heights RV trip?

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Falcon Heights is easy to find. Just use the Pet Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see plenty of Twin Cities hosts who welcome dogs and sometimes cats. Many hosts include a small pet cleaning fee, which is shown clearly on the listing. Falcon Heights is also one of the most dog-friendly pockets of the metro: you can walk leashed dogs along the trails near the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus, and Como Park in neighboring Saint Paul has wide paved paths perfect for stretching their legs after a drive. Pro tip: nearby Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Eagan and Lake Elmo Park Reserve both allow leashed pets at their RV-friendly campgrounds.

Can the RV be delivered to me in Falcon Heights?

Yes, RV delivery in Falcon Heights is one of the smartest moves first-time renters make. Many local hosts will deliver and set up the RV at your driveway, campground, or directly at the Minnesota State Fair Campground on Snelling Avenue, then walk you through everything before they leave. Delivery fees are set by the host and depend on distance and RV size, but a typical delivery within 25 miles of Falcon Heights generally runs $50 to $200 round-trip. This is especially popular for State Fair guests who do not want to drive a big rig through Snelling Avenue traffic. Pro tip: message the host before booking and ask for a delivered, pre-leveled, hooked-up setup, it is the easiest possible start to your trip.

How far can I travel from Falcon Heights on my RV trip?

You can cover a lot of ground on a Falcon Heights RV trip because the city sits at the crossroads of I-94 and I-35 in the Twin Cities. Popular routes include Duluth and the North Shore of Lake Superior (about 155 miles, 2.5 hours), Itasca State Park where the Mississippi River begins (about 210 miles, 3.5 hours), the Boundary Waters near Ely (about 240 miles, 4.5 hours), and the Black Hills of South Dakota (about 600 miles, 9 hours). Many hosts set generous daily mileage allowances (often 100 to 150 miles per night), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer trips. Pro tip: ask for unlimited mileage if you are planning a North Shore RV road trip from Falcon Heights, those scenic detours add up fast.

Where are the best campgrounds near Falcon Heights, MN?

You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Falcon Heights. The Minnesota State Fair Campground sits right in town with electric hookups and shared water and dump stations, especially handy during fair season. About 20 miles east, Lake Elmo Park Reserve offers wooded sites, swim pond access, and modern amenities. Lebanon Hills Regional Park in Eagan (about 15 miles south) has electric sites and nearly 2,000 acres of trails. Fort Snelling State Park, only about 10 miles southwest along the Mississippi, is another favorite for first-time campers. For a quieter feel, Bunker Hills Regional Park in Coon Rapids has a wave pool and waterpark nearby. Pro tip: book through the Minnesota DNR reservation system up to 120 days ahead, especially for summer weekends.

When is the best time to take an RV trip from Falcon Heights?

Late May through early October is prime time to rent an RV in Falcon Heights, with July as the sweet spot when average highs hit the low-to-mid 80s and lows stay in the comfortable low-to-mid 60s. June brings some of the highest rainfall but also the lushest greenery, while September delivers warm days, crisp nights, and stunning fall color along the St. Croix River and North Shore. Winters here are no joke, January average highs sit in the low-to-mid 20s, so most renters stick to the May to October window. That said, hardy adventurers can absolutely book a winter RV rental in Falcon Heights for ice fishing trips or the St. Paul Winter Carnival in late January and early February. Pro tip: book the last two weeks of August for the Minnesota State Fair experience.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

You will do great, first time renting an RV in Falcon Heights is more common than you would think, and every host on RVezy provides a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery. They will walk you through the generator, slide-outs, water system, leveling, awning, and how to dump tanks, and you can message them anytime during your trip if a question pops up. Most first-timers pick a Class C motorhome rental in Falcon Heights or a small travel trailer because they drive a lot like a large van or pickup. Stick to suburbs like Roseville, Maplewood, and Eagan on day one to build confidence before heading out to the North Shore. Pro tip: take a short practice loop around the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus, the streets are wide and quiet.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my Twin Cities trip?

You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Falcon Heights includes 24/7 roadside assistance through the RVezy protection plan, covering issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If you run into trouble on I-94, I-35, or out on a county road heading to the lakes, just call the number in your trip confirmation and help is dispatched to you. Your host is also a phone call or text away for quick troubleshooting (sometimes it is just a tripped breaker on the inverter). The Twin Cities metro has many RV service centers within a short drive of Falcon Heights, so parts and repairs are rarely far away. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before you leave the driveway.

Can I take my Falcon Heights RV rental into Canada or other states?

Cross-border and interstate trips from Falcon Heights are very doable, you are only about 300 miles from the International Falls border crossing into Ontario. Many hosts allow travel into Canada, but you will need to confirm with them before booking because insurance coverage must be extended for cross-border trips. Travel into nearby US states like Wisconsin, Iowa, the Dakotas, and Illinois is generally allowed and popular: think Apostle Islands (about 240 miles east), Wisconsin Dells (about 270 miles southeast), or Badlands National Park (about 600 miles west). Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance does not extend there. Pro tip: if you are eyeing a Canadian fishing trip, message the host directly from the listing page so they can flag your booking for cross-border coverage.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Minnesota RV trip?

Fuel is one of the easier costs to estimate for your Falcon Heights RV trip. Minnesota gas prices typically run close to the national average, with diesel a bit higher than regular gasoline. As a rough guide, Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 MPG, and larger Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG. For a round-trip from Falcon Heights to Duluth (about 310 miles), expect to spend roughly $80 to $160 on fuel depending on the rig and current pump prices. The Twin Cities has competitive pricing, so fill up before heading north where stations get pricier near the Boundary Waters. Pro tip: check current Minnesota prices on the U.S. Energy Information Administration site before your trip to fine-tune your budget.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Falcon Heights?

For Minnesota state parks, book up to 120 days out, that is the maximum window in the Minnesota DNR reservation system, and popular spots like Fort Snelling, Afton, and William O'Brien can fill quickly for summer weekends. You can reserve online through the Minnesota DNR site or by calling their reservation line. Private RV parks near Falcon Heights and the State Fair Campground typically open bookings months ahead and sell out for fair dates almost immediately. Same-day reservations are sometimes available if you are flexible. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for 8 a.m. Central exactly 120 days before your planned arrival, that is when new state-park dates open in the DNR system.

What are the driving conditions like in and around Falcon Heights?

Driving an RV around Falcon Heights is very manageable once you know a few local quirks. The city sits just off Snelling Avenue (Highway 51) and is bracketed by I-94 to the south and I-35W to the west, both wide and RV-friendly outside of rush hour (avoid roughly 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays). During the 12-day Minnesota State Fair in late August, Snelling, Como, and Larpenteur Avenues get extremely congested and Falcon Heights enforces paid permit parking in residential areas near the fairgrounds. Winter brings snow, ice, and salted roads from December through March. Pro tip: ask your host for delivery during State Fair season, it removes the parking headache entirely.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Falcon Heights?

Campgrounds near Falcon Heights cover the full range from rustic to resort. Minnesota state parks like Fort Snelling and William O'Brien offer electric hookups (typically 30-amp, with some 50-amp sites), drinking water spigots, shared dump stations, and clean shower buildings, with nightly site fees generally in the $25 to $40 range. Private parks like Lebanon Hills and other Twin Cities RV parks offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer at the site), Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools at many locations. The Minnesota State Fair Campground has electric at each site with shared water and dump access. Need to dump tanks on the road? Many Twin Cities truck stops and travel centers offer dump access. Pro tip: download the Sanidumps app to find dump stations and freshwater fills anywhere on your Minnesota RV trip.

What's inside the RVs available in Falcon Heights?

You will be surprised how well-equipped a motorhome rental in Falcon Heights really is. Most rigs sleep 4 to 8 people across queen beds, bunks, and convertible dinettes, and come with a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink), a private bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control, and a TV. Many include a generator for off-grid power, an awning for shade, outdoor speakers, and sometimes a Wi-Fi hotspot, though cell signal can be spotty in the Boundary Waters region. Every motorized RV has seatbelts for passengers in designated travel seats. Class B campervans in the Twin Cities tend to be the most modern, often with solar setups and efficient kitchens. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps 6+ if you are traveling as a family, the floor plans make a huge difference.

What add-ons and extras do hosts in Falcon Heights offer?

Falcon Heights hosts make it easy to customize your RV trip with optional add-ons. Common extras include linen and bedding packages, kitchen kits with cookware and dishes, camping chairs and outdoor mats, bike racks, generators or extra propane, and pet packages. Pickup is typically at the host's home in or near Falcon Heights, but RV delivery in Falcon Heights is widely offered and often the easier choice. Mileage policies vary by host: many include 100 to 150 free miles per night with a per-mile charge beyond that, and some offer unlimited mileage for an upcharge. Always check the listing's mileage and generator policies before booking. Pro tip: bundle linens plus the kitchen kit, you will show up and basically just need groceries.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment for your Falcon Heights RV rental is simple and fully handled through RVezy, never in cash to the host. You pay with a credit or debit card at the time of booking, and a refundable security deposit (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card before your trip starts. As long as the RV comes back in the condition it left, with the agreed mileage and a clean interior, the hold is released after your return. Tolls, mileage overages, or accidental damage may be deducted from the deposit. Pro tip: take dated photos and a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff, it is the easiest way to support a smooth deposit refund on your Minnesota RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

How should I prepare for cold-weather camping in Minnesota?

Cold-weather RV camping near Falcon Heights is absolutely doable with the right rig and a little prep. If you are booking outside the typical May to October window, filter for RVs with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a propane furnace, plenty of Twin Cities hosts list winter-ready rigs. Plan to stay at campgrounds with full shore power so you can run the furnace without draining batteries; a few Twin Cities private parks stay open later into the shoulder season, so confirm dates directly with the park. Disconnect and drain the fresh water hose between fills to prevent freezing, and keep cabinet doors open near plumbing so heat reaches the pipes. Pro tip: a January RV trip from Falcon Heights to the St. Paul Winter Carnival or an ice-fishing weekend on Mille Lacs Lake is a true Minnesota bucket-list experience.
