2021 Gulf Stream Travel Trailer
The success of platforms like RVezy depends on people, not just campers. We found in Lena a host who was quick to respond, thorough, accommodating and pleasant. Arranging for pickup was easy, and her complete walkthrough of towing hookup and campground setup was very helpful. She has the unit fully outfitted with everything needed for sleeping, cooking and showering, etc. We had set aside a number of items to bring that we were able to leave at home. There's even a red binder inside with instructions for all the systems, While the camper is a couple years old, it's really only the outside that shows any minor wear from normal exposure to the elements. Everything worked as we needed it to. In all, this was a great solution for our annual group camping trip, this year to Willow River State Park. Highly recommend this host.

When is the best time to visit Shoreview for an RV trip?

Late May through early October is prime season for an RV road trip from Shoreview, with each stretch offering something different. June and July average highs of 80 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and warm lake-swim temperatures, August brings the Minnesota State Fair just minutes away in Falcon Heights, and mid-September to mid-October explodes with red and gold fall colors along the St. Croix. Winters are genuinely cold (often below 0 Fahrenheit in January), but adventurous renters can find four-season RVs with heated tanks for ice-fishing trips on Bald Eagle Lake. Shoulder seasons mean fewer mosquitoes, lower nightly rates, and easier campsite reservations, so plan accordingly.

I've never rented an RV before. How will I know what I'm doing?

You're in great hands, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host in the Shoreview area provides a full orientation at pickup (typically 30 to 60 minutes) where they walk you through driving tips, leveling, hookups, the propane system, slide-outs, and waste tanks. You can message the host directly from the listing before booking with any question, big or small. For Twin Cities first-timers, hosts often recommend an easy shakedown trip to Lake Elmo Park Reserve or Bunker Hills before tackling a longer haul to Duluth. Add 24/7 RVezy roadside support and a quick-reference cheat sheet, and you'll be road-ready in no time.

Can I take my Shoreview RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, most RVezy rentals are road-trip ready for the Lower 48, which makes an RV road trip from Shoreview a fantastic launch point for the upper Midwest. Popular cross-state runs include Wisconsin Dells (about 4 hours southeast), the Black Hills of South Dakota (10 hours west), and Door County, Wisconsin (6.5 hours east). Crossing into Canada (Ontario or Manitoba via the I-29/I-94 corridor) is allowed by some hosts with advance approval and the right insurance documentation, so just message them before booking. One important note: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the insurance doesn't extend there. Confirm your route with your host, then plan away.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I expect for an RV trip from Shoreview?

Fuel is usually the biggest road-trip expense, but it's easy to plan for. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes get 10 to 14 mpg, Class A coaches typically 7 to 10 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 mpg). Minnesota gas prices in the Twin Cities tend to run a bit below the national average, with regular and diesel widely available at Holiday, Kwik Trip, and Costco in Maplewood and Roseville. A round-trip to Duluth (about 310 miles total) in a Class C runs roughly $80 to $110 in fuel. Fill up before leaving the metro for the best price.

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Shoreview?

Booking early is the single biggest unlock for a stress-free trip. Minnesota state park campsites (including William O'Brien, Wild River, and Afton) are reservable through the Minnesota DNR reservation system, and you can book up to 120 days in advance. For summer weekends and fall-color trips in late September, sites at popular parks vanish within minutes of opening, so set a calendar reminder for the exact morning your window opens. Private parks like Minneapolis Northwest KOA take reservations year-round. Same-day reservations are sometimes available if you're spontaneous, which is a fun Friday morning move.

What are driving conditions like around Shoreview and the Twin Cities?

Driving an RV in and out of Shoreview is very manageable thanks to wide highways and predictable terrain. The metro sits at the junction of I-35W, I-35E, I-694, and Highway 10, so plan to leave outside of rush hour (avoid 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. on weekdays) for a relaxed start. Watch for low clearances on a few older parkways in Minneapolis and St. Paul (Summit Avenue is best avoided in a tall Class A). Winter brings snow and ice from November through March, and summer thunderstorms can pop up fast. Check 511mn.org before rolling out for live road conditions and construction.

What amenities and dump stations should I expect at campgrounds near Shoreview?

Most campgrounds within an hour of Shoreview offer the essentials you'd expect, and many go beyond. Minnesota state parks like William O'Brien and Wild River provide electric sites (20/30/50 amp), drinking-water spigots, modern restrooms, showers, and on-site dump stations included with your camping fee. Bunker Hills Regional Park and Lake Elmo Park Reserve add full-hookup sites with sewer at your pad. Need a dump-only stop? Bunker Hills Regional Park in Andover and several Holiday stations in the north metro offer public dump stations. Fill your fresh-water tank before leaving the host's home, and you'll be ready for anything Minnesota throws at you.

What's actually inside a typical campervan or motorhome rental in Shoreview?

You'll be surprised how loaded most rigs are. A campervan rental in Shoreview (Class B) usually sleeps two with a kitchenette, fridge, sink, propane stove, and a wet bath. Class C motorhomes sleep four to seven, with a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, queen bed, dinette, plus seatbelted seating for travel. Larger Class A coaches and fifth wheels often add slide-outs, washer/dryer, smart TVs, and onboard generators. Most listings on RVezy include linens, cookware, an outdoor chair set, and a backup camera, and many offer Wi-Fi hotspots as an add-on. Check the listing's amenities list and message the host if you need a specific item before your trip.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/rv-safety

What add-ons and pickup options are available with my Shoreview RV rental?

You can customize your trip with popular add-ons that make life easier on the road. Common extras from Shoreview-area hosts include kitchen kits, bedding bundles, camp chairs and tables, bike racks, portable Wi-Fi hotspots, generators, and propane fire pits, typically $10 to $50 each. Many hosts also offer pre-stocked starter packs (paper towels, dish soap, coffee) so you can roll out of the driveway and head straight to William O'Brien. For pickup, you'll usually meet the host at their home in the north metro or arrange delivery for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies vary by listing, but messaging the host before booking gets you a tailored quote fast.

How does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Shoreview?

Payment is straightforward and secure through the RVezy platform. When you book, you'll pay your rental total (plus any add-ons, delivery, and your chosen protection plan) by credit or debit card right through the app, so there's no cash changing hands at pickup. A refundable security deposit hold is placed on your card before your trip, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV class, and it's released after the trip ends assuming the RV comes back in the same condition. Quick tip for a smooth return: take time-stamped photos at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's fuel and waste-tank instructions, and you'll have your deposit back in days.

Is winter RV rental in Shoreview really an option?

It sure is, and it's a uniquely Minnesotan adventure. Several Shoreview-area hosts list four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and high-output furnaces, perfect for ice-fishing weekends on Bald Eagle, Lake Vadnais, or White Bear Lake. Plug into shore power at year-round parks like Jay Cooke State Park near Duluth or use the RV as a warm basecamp at the St. Paul Winter Carnival in late January. Daytime highs from December through February average roughly 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit, so skirting, tank antifreeze, and a backup space heater are smart moves. Message your host about cold-weather prep, and bundle up for an unforgettable trip.
