The experience was incredible. We opted for delivery with set up and pick up. Set up was picture perfect and our host emptied the water tanks for us upon pick up. The RV was spotless and well cared for. Enough room for both of our dogs, one big and one small. 😁

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Green Knoll, NJ
How much does an RV rental in Green Knoll, NJ typically cost?
Renting an RV in Green Knoll is more affordable than most travelers expect, especially compared to hotel stays near nearby New York City. On RVezy, motorhomes in the Somerset County area typically range from about $175 to $250 per night while travel trailers commonly run about $100 to $150 per night, and many owners offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly bookings. You can filter by price, sleep count, and RV type to find a cheap RV rental Green Knoll travelers love. Pro tip: book a Sunday-through-Thursday trip in late September or early October to catch peak fall foliage in the Watchung Reservation at a softer mid-week rate.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Green%20Knoll%2C%20New%20JerseyDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Green Knoll, NJ?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Green Knoll. New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any RV-specific endorsement for personal recreational use, even for larger Class A motorhomes used for family travel. On RVezy, approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid driver's license, which is verified quickly through the platform. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home-country license. Once verified, you can book any motorhome rental Green Knoll hosts offer with confidence, from compact campervans to family-sized Class C rigs.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Green Knoll protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, every RV rental in Green Knoll booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are never on your own. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, giving you real peace of mind without arranging separate insurance. During checkout you choose the protection tier that fits your trip (not the host), so you stay in control of your coverage level. That is especially reassuring on your first RV rental or when navigating busier roads like I-287 or Route 22 near Bridgewater. Book knowing the safety net is already in place.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Green Knoll RV trip?
Booking is low risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (not individual hosts), and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Specific refund amounts depend on factors like how far in advance you cancel and whether unexpected events affect your trip. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds you or provides travel credits so your plans stay protected. If plans change, reach out through the RVezy app and the support team will walk you through your options step by step.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Green Knoll?
Absolutely, four-legged co-pilots are welcome on many Green Knoll RV trips. On RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental Green Knoll hosts offer, then message the owner if you have a larger breed or multiple pets. Once you've got your rig, you've got fantastic local options: Duke Island Park in Bridgewater has shaded dog-friendly trails along the Raritan River, and the Sourland Mountain Preserve about 20 minutes west allows leashed dogs on its rocky 5-mile loop. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, since New Jersey summer humidity can climb quickly even on shaded trails.
somersetcountyparks.org/parks-trails/duke-island-park/Can the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Green Knoll?
Yes, RV delivery in Green Knoll is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if you're new to RVing or don't want to drive a big rig through Somerset County traffic. Many local hosts will bring the RV directly to your campground, driveway, or even a tailgate spot near Raritan Valley Community College, then set it up and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to instantly see hosts offering this service near Green Knoll. Pro tip: ask about delivery to Spruce Run Recreation Area or Round Valley, since many hosts already know those routes well and the setup is seamless.
somersetcountyparks.org/How far can I drive on a Green Knoll RV trip, and how does mileage work?
You've got real range from Green Knoll. Each RVezy host sets their own daily mileage allowance, and many offer generous packages or even RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect for longer Northeast loops. From Green Knoll you can reach the Jersey Shore at Island Beach State Park in about 75 miles, the Delaware Water Gap in roughly 60 miles, Cape May in about 145 miles, and the Catskills in New York in around 110 miles. Check the listing's mileage policy before booking and message the host if you're planning bigger distances. Pro tip: ask about a weekly mileage bundle if you're planning a multi-stop New Jersey RV trip.
state.nj.us/transportation/Where are the best campgrounds near Green Knoll, NJ?
You're surprisingly spoiled for RV camping Green Knoll options within a short drive. Spruce Run Recreation Area in Clinton (about 25 minutes northwest) offers waterfront sites on a 1,290-acre reservoir with swimming and fishing. Round Valley Recreation Area nearby has scenic reservoir views and family-friendly amenities. Voorhees State Park in Glen Gardner provides wooded, year-round sites about 35 minutes away. Stephens State Park near Hackettstown is great for trout fishing along the Musconetcong River. For a quieter option, Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold has full hookups and a 17-acre lake. Pro tip: reserve through the NJ Outdoors portal as soon as your dates are confirmed, since waterfront sites at Spruce Run sell out fast in summer.
njportal.com/DEP/NJOutdoorsWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Green Knoll?
Late spring through mid-fall is the sweet spot for an RV road trip from Green Knoll. May and June bring blooming dogwoods and comfortable highs of 70 to 80°F, July and August are warm and humid with highs in the mid-80s (great for beach runs to the Jersey Shore), and September through mid-October delivers crisp 60 to 75°F days and brilliant fall foliage across the Watchung and Sourland mountains. Winter trips (December through February) are possible with four-season RVs, but expect temperatures from 20 to 40°F and occasional snow. Pro tip: aim for the last two weeks of October for peak foliage, especially along the Delaware Water Gap loop.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Green Knoll?
First-time renters do great here, and Green Knoll is actually a friendly launching pad. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the slide-outs, propane, generator, water systems, and dump valves, so you're not guessing once you hit the road. Green Knoll sits just off Route 202/206 with easy access to wider highways like I-78 and I-287, letting you avoid tight urban streets in nearby New York City. Pro tip for your first time renting an RV: do a slow practice loop through the Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School parking lot on a Sunday morning to get a feel for braking distance and mirror checks before merging onto I-287.
state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/safety/What happens if my RV breaks down during my trip?
Relax, you are covered. Every RVezy booking from Green Knoll includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you have a flat tire on I-287, a dead battery at Round Valley, or a propane issue at a remote campsite. The roadside team handles towing, jump starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel delivery across New Jersey and beyond. Your host is also a great first call for quick tips, since they know their rig better than anyone. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number in your phone before you leave Green Knoll, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN sticker so you can share it instantly if needed.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Green Knoll RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, road-tripping across state lines is one of the best perks of an RV road trip from Green Knoll. You're perfectly positioned to explore Pennsylvania (Pocono Mountains in about 90 minutes), New York's Hudson Valley (about 2 hours north), Vermont's Green Mountains, or the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Travel into Canada may be allowed but you'll need to message the host directly before booking to confirm and arrange the right insurance documentation. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: a 5 to 7 day loop through the Finger Lakes via I-80 is one of the most popular cross-border routes from Green Knoll.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Green Knoll RV trip?
Fuel is one of your bigger trip expenses, but it's easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans get 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle, typically 10 to 14 MPG combined. New Jersey gas prices generally sit a bit below the Northeast average, and a great local tip is that NJ is a full-service state, meaning an attendant pumps your gas for you. Big-rig friendly stations along I-287 and I-78 (like the Pilot in Bloomsbury) handle larger RVs easily. Pro tip: use the GasBuddy app and fill up in New Jersey before crossing into Pennsylvania or New York, where prices often jump.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Green Knoll?
For the best Green Knoll campgrounds, book as early as you can: New Jersey State Park campsites open for reservation up to 6 months in advance through the NJ Outdoors portal (njportal.com/DEP/NJOutdoors), and prime summer weekends at Spruce Run and Round Valley can fill within hours of opening. Aim for 3 to 6 months ahead for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends, and 2 to 4 weeks ahead for shoulder-season trips. Private campgrounds like Camp Taylor near the Delaware Water Gap typically have more availability. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, search Tuesday-to-Thursday windows, where waterfront sites often have last-minute openings even in peak season.
njportal.com/DEP/NJOutdoorsWhat are driving conditions like around Green Knoll, NJ?
Driving an RV around Green Knoll is very manageable once you know the rhythm. The area is served by I-287, I-78, Route 22, and Route 202/206, all of which handle large vehicles well. Avoid the Garden State Parkway with trucks/trailers (commercial vehicles are restricted in some sections) and stick to the NJ Turnpike's truck lanes for east-west travel. Rush hour around Bridgewater and Somerville (7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6:30 PM weekdays) is best skipped. New Jersey law caps RVs at 13.5 feet tall and 40 feet long on state roads, which covers almost every rental. Pro tip: avoid the Pulaski Skyway and use I-78 westbound to bypass tunnels with low clearances near New York City.
state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/roads/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Green Knoll?
Campgrounds near Green Knoll range from rustic state parks to full-hookup private resorts, so you can match your comfort level. Spruce Run and Round Valley offer water, restrooms, picnic tables, fire rings, and dump stations, but limited electric hookups, so a generator or solar setup helps. Private campgrounds like Camp Taylor and Tip Tam Camping Resort offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Most NJ state parks have potable water fill stations near the entrance and a centralized dump station you can use on the way out. Pro tip: ask your host whether the RV has a built-in fresh water tank top-up hose and a macerator pump, which makes dumping at busy stations like the one at Liberty Harbor much faster.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/What's inside a typical RV rental in Green Knoll?
You'll be impressed by how well-equipped these rigs are. A typical RV rental in Green Knoll, NJ comes with a queen or king bed, bunks or convertible dinettes for family sleeping, a working kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted air conditioning, a furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many also include a generator for off-grid power, a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor awning. Wi-Fi varies, so plan to use your phone hotspot or ask the host. Class B campervans are more compact but still include a bed, kitchenette, and often a wet bath. Pro tip: filter listings by sleeps count on RVezy to perfectly match your family RV trip Green Knoll group size.
fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/recreational-vehiclesWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for my Green Knoll RV rental?
You can customize your trip in just a few clicks. When you rent an RV in Green Knoll, most RVezy hosts offer popular add-ons like bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits ($25 to $50), camping chairs, propane fire pits, generators, bike racks, and Starlink Wi-Fi. Pickup is typically at the host's location in Bridgewater, Somerville, or surrounding Somerset County towns, with delivery available for an extra fee that scales with distance. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per day to unlimited, so always check the listing. Pro tip: bundle bedding, kitchen kit, and outdoor gear into one add-on request when you message the host, since many will offer a small package discount.
visitnj.org/How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. When you book your campervan rental Green Knoll trip on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, and your payment is processed securely, which protects both you and the host. A refundable security deposit (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not charged, and is released after a successful return with no damage. To avoid deposit issues: complete the pre-trip walkthrough with your host, photograph the RV inside and out at pickup, and return it with the agreed fuel and tank levels. Pro tip: ask the host to confirm the dump and refuel expectations in writing through the RVezy message thread.
