Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Mount Arlington, NJ
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Mount Arlington, NJ?
An RV rental in Mount Arlington fits a wide range of budgets. On RVezy you will typically find travel trailers starting around $125 to $175 per night, Class C motorhomes between $200 and $300 per night, and larger Class A coaches from $275 and up. Lakeside summer weekends from June through August around Lake Hopatcong book fastest and price highest, so traveling mid-week or in the shoulder months of May or September can save you 20 to 30 percent. For a cheap RV rental in Mount Arlington, filter by travel trailers and look for hosts offering free local delivery to nearby parks. Bundle nights into a full week and many hosts apply an automatic weekly discount.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Arlington%2C%20New%20JerseyDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Mount Arlington?
Great news for first-time renters: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Mount Arlington. New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any RV-specific endorsement for personal motorhomes or travel trailers under standard weight limits, which covers virtually every rig you will find on RVezy. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens right inside the booking flow, so there is no paperwork to chase down. Visiting from overseas? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license. Most guests are surprised how quickly verification wraps up, often within a few hours.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Mount Arlington, NJ?
You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Mount Arlington booked through RVezy includes a protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are never stranded on Route 80 or near Lake Hopatcong wondering who to call. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your trip, giving you real peace of mind. During checkout you choose from several coverage tiers based on how much extra protection you want, the host does not pick this for you, you do. Families often choose a mid or top tier for added cushion on their first motorhome rental in Mount Arlington.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if I need to cancel my Mount Arlington RV rental?
Booking is low-risk so you can plan with confidence. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy, and it includes a grace period right after booking so you have breathing room to finalize plans. Refund eligibility after that depends on how far in advance you cancel. Because the policy is standardized across the platform, you will not see a cancellation policy listed on each RV page. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds you or provides travel credits so your trip plans stay protected. Lock in your Lake Hopatcong summer weekend early, you can always adjust before the grace period ends.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Mount Arlington RV trip?
Absolutely, plenty of RVezy hosts welcome four-legged co-pilots. Use the Pet-Friendly filter when searching for your pet-friendly RV rental Mount Arlington and you'll see only listings where dogs (and sometimes cats) are explicitly allowed. Many hosts even leave bowls, towels, or a tie-out leash ready to go. Once you're here, Lake Hopatcong State Park has shoreline trails dogs love, and the wooded loops at Mahlon Dickerson Reservation just up the road in Jefferson are leash-friendly and shaded, perfect for summer paws. Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your dog's size and breed, it speeds up confirmation and often unlocks a warmer welcome at pickup.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/hopatcong.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Mount Arlington?
Yes, and it is hands-down the easiest way to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Mount Arlington, meaning they will drive the rig to your campground, driveway, or lakeside site, level it, hook it up, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. This is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV or you would rather not tow a trailer through Morris County traffic. Popular delivery destinations include Hopatcong State Park, Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover, and Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson. Filter by Delivery on RVezy and message the host with your exact site number, many include free delivery within a set radius.

state.nj.us/transportation/Where are the best campgrounds near Mount Arlington, NJ?
You are in one of New Jersey's most camper-friendly corners. The best campgrounds near Mount Arlington include Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson (Morris County's largest park with electric RV sites about 10 minutes away), Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover (full hookups, pool, about 12 miles north), Fla-Net Park in Flanders (family-run with shaded sites), and Camp Taylor Campground near the Delaware Water Gap (about 45 minutes west). Hopatcong State Park is primarily a day-use lakefront park, so plan to sleep at a nearby campground and visit the lake by day. For an RV camping trip in Mount Arlington, Mahlon Dickerson is the local insider pick, quiet, wooded, and close to the lake. Book Mahlon Dickerson through the Morris County Parks reservation system as soon as sites open.
morrisparks.net/index.php/parks/mahlon-dickerson-reservationWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Mount Arlington?
Late spring through early fall is prime time, but each season has its charm. Mount Arlington sits in northern New Jersey's highlands, so summers (June to August) are warm and humid with highs in the mid-80s°F, perfect for Lake Hopatcong swimming and boating. September and early October are the sweet spot: 60s to low 70s°F, vivid foliage across Mahlon Dickerson, and far fewer mosquitoes. Spring (April to May) brings 50s to 70s°F and blooming dogwoods. Winters dip into the 20s and 30s°F with snow, so most camping wraps up by November. Pro tip: book a Lake Hopatcong RV trip for the last weekend of September, the leaves peak and the lake is glass-calm.
weather.gov/phi/I have never rented an RV before, what should I expect?
You are going to do great, and you will not be left to figure things out alone. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup or delivery, covering the generator, water systems, slide-outs, propane, leveling, and dump procedures, plus their phone number for quick questions mid-trip. First time renting an RV in Mount Arlington? Start with a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer, they drive like a big van or a midsize tow. Stick to a nearby campground like Mahlon Dickerson Reservation for night one so you can settle in close to home base. Arrive at pickup with 60 to 90 minutes blocked off, ask every question, and record the walkthrough on your phone.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002342934-For-rentersWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
Help is one phone call away, 24/7. Every RV rental in Mount Arlington booked through RVezy includes round-the-clock roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns. If something feels off, call roadside first, then loop in your host, who knows the rig best and can often troubleshoot in minutes. RVezy's support team is also available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center. Mount Arlington's location right off Interstate 80 means service trucks can usually reach you quickly. Snap a photo of the RV's VIN and the roadside number before you pull out of the driveway so it is right there if you need it.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Mount Arlington RV rental into Canada or other states?
Yes, cross-state and even cross-border trips are very doable from Mount Arlington. Sitting right off I-80, you're perfectly positioned to head into New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, or all the way up to Canada (many hosts allow Canadian travel, just confirm in a pre-booking message so insurance and protection coverage carries over). Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Popular multi-state routes include Mount Arlington to Acadia National Park in Maine (about 8 hours), down to Shenandoah, Virginia (5.5 hours), or up to Niagara Falls (6.5 hours). Pro tip: message the host directly from the listing before booking if you're planning a Canadian leg, most are happy to approve once they know your route.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Mount Arlington RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable, but it's easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A coaches around 6 to 10 MPG, campervans 14 to 20 MPG, and your tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer roughly 10 to 14 MPG. New Jersey gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, often $3.30 to $3.80 per gallon for regular, and remember, attendants pump your gas in NJ (no self-serve), which is a fun quirk for visitors. For a 300-mile weekend in a Class C, budget around $100 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up just before crossing into Pennsylvania on I-80 if you're heading west, NJ prices are often friendlier.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Mount Arlington?
Booking early is the secret to a stress-free trip. For summer weekends at Lake Hopatcong State Park day-use areas, reserve through the New Jersey State Park Service as soon as the rolling window opens (typically several months out). Mahlon Dickerson Reservation campsites open through the Morris County Parks online reservation system and Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends fill within days of release. Private parks like Panther Lake Camping Resort accept reservations up to a year ahead and book solid for July 4th weekend by early spring. Pro tip: if you strike out at your first choice, check Fla-Net Park or Camp Taylor near the Delaware Water Gap, both often have last-minute openings even mid-summer.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/hopatcong.htmlWhat are driving conditions like around Mount Arlington?
Driving an RV around Mount Arlington is very manageable once you know the lay of the land. Interstate 80 runs right through town and is the main artery, easy and well-maintained, just avoid Friday afternoon eastbound (toward NYC) and Sunday afternoon westbound when weekend traffic peaks. Route 15 north toward Sparta has some hills but nothing dramatic. Skip the narrow lakeside roads circling Lake Hopatcong with a big rig, stick to Mt. Arlington Boulevard and Howard Boulevard. Winter (December to March) can bring snow and ice, so most renters stick to April through November. Pro tip: most New Jersey parkways (Garden State Parkway, Palisades) restrict commercial vehicles and trailers, plan your route on I-80, I-287, or I-78 instead.
state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/roads/What amenities do campgrounds near Mount Arlington offer?
You'll find a great mix of hookup options. Mahlon Dickerson Reservation offers electric sites, potable water fill stations, and a dump station. Panther Lake Camping Resort has full hookups (water, electric, sewer), a pool, and a camp store. Lake Hopatcong State Park is primarily day-use, so plan to sleep at one of the nearby campgrounds and visit the lake by day. Fla-Net Park provides electric and water hookups in a quieter, wooded setting. Most parks have potable water fills, and dump stations are available at Mahlon Dickerson and Panther Lake. Pro tip: if your RV needs to dump between trips, Panther Lake sometimes allows non-guest dump access for a small fee, call ahead to confirm.
morrisparks.net/index.php/parks/mahlon-dickerson-reservationWhat's inside a typical Mount Arlington RV rental?
You'll be impressed at how loaded these rigs are. Most RVezy listings around Mount Arlington come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa sleepers (Class C motorhomes typically sleep 4 to 7), a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, propane stove, and often an oven, plus a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet. Air conditioning, furnace heat, and a TV are standard, and many hosts include a generator, WiFi hotspot, outdoor speakers, and seatbelts for every passenger. Campervan rental Mount Arlington options are cozier but still include sleeping, cooking, and basic bathroom setups. Pro tip: scroll the amenities list on each listing carefully, hosts often include linens, kitchenware, and outdoor chairs at no extra cost, saving you a packing headache.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/rvsWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts make customizing easy. Common add-ons for an RV rental in Mount Arlington include linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), bike racks, outdoor grills, generator usage packages, propane refills, and portable WiFi. Many hosts offer delivery (often free within 20 to 25 miles, then $2 to $4 per mile beyond), and some include festival-friendly setups if you're heading to nearby concerts at PNC Bank Arts Center or Bethel Woods. Pickup is usually flexible between 1 and 4 PM with drop-off by 11 AM, and mileage policies range from 100 free miles per night to unlimited. Pro tip: use the Instant Book filter on RVezy to lock in confirmed listings immediately, no waiting on host approval, perfect for last-minute Lake Hopatcong getaways.
visitnj.org/article/lake-hopatcong-getawayHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and transparent, with no surprises at pickup. You pay the full booking amount (rental nights, service fee, chosen protection tier, and any add-ons) securely through RVezy at the time of booking, using a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit (typically a few hundred to over a thousand dollars depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, clean, with proper fuel and propane levels, and no extra miles owed. The security deposit is handled separately from your booking payment. Take date-stamped photos and a quick video walk-around at both pickup and drop-off, it is the single best way to keep your deposit return fast and drama-free.
