How much does it cost to rent an RV in Somerville, NJ?
Rent an RV in Somerville for less between Tuesday and Thursday, when host pricing tends to be the most flexible. Daily rates for an RV rental in Somerville, NJ typically run from around $95 to $150 for a travel trailer, $175 to $250 for a Class C motorhome, and $200 to $350 for a larger Class A. Add fuel, campground fees (New Jersey state parks start around $25 to $35 per night), and any extras like generator hours or kitchen kits. Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to drive an RV in New Jersey, no Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement required for personal-use motorhomes. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission allows standard license holders to operate motorhomes, campervans, and tow travel trailers for non-commercial use. To rent an RV in Somerville through RVezy, you'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform before pickup. Visiting from abroad? Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet rules and ask for recommended dog-friendly stops; many Somerville hosts know the area's best trails and outfit their RVs with washable mats or pet beds.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/parks/roundvalley/Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway?
Yes, RV delivery in Somerville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather skip driving a big rig through Somerset County traffic on Route 22 or US-202. Many local hosts will deliver and set up your motorhome rental Somerville at your driveway, a friend's property, or directly at campgrounds like Round Valley, Spruce Run, or Voorhees State Park in Glen Gardner. They handle leveling, hookups, and a full walkthrough so you can focus on enjoying the trip. Delivery fees typically range from $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location, with some offering free delivery within a set radius. dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/parks/roundvalley/When is the best time of year to visit Somerville in an RV?

July is the warmest month with average highs around 84 degrees Fahrenheit and humid evenings, so look for an RV with reliable air conditioning. Pro tip: book the last weekend of September or first weekend of October for crisp nights, warm days, and stunning leaf color along Route 31.
forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Somerville&state=NJ&site=PHII've never rented an RV before. How does it work?

After you book on RVezy, your host will message you to coordinate pickup or delivery, and at pickup they'll walk you through every system, water, electric, propane, slide-outs, awnings, and the dump procedure, so you leave feeling confident. Most hosts in the Somerville area are seasoned RVers happy to text or call during your trip if you have questions. Start with a shorter, closer stay (a weekend at Round Valley or Spruce Run is perfect) before committing to a long haul. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after the trip. Pro tip: choose a Class C or travel trailer under 26 feet for your first Somerville RV trip; they're easier to maneuver on local roads like US-202.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You're never alone out there. For mechanical or appliance questions, message your host directly through the RVezy app, most respond within minutes and can troubleshoot common issues. RVezy customer support is also reachable any time through the Help Center. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN, plate, and roadside number at pickup and save it in your phone, it makes any call faster if you ever need it.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Somerville RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, crossing state lines is encouraged and easy from Somerville, you're 45 minutes from Pennsylvania, 60 minutes from New York City, and within a day's drive of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Popular multi-state routes include heading north to the White Mountains, west to the Poconos and Finger Lakes, or south along the Atlantic to the Outer Banks. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection package you select, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection package doesn't extend there. Pro tip: tell your host your full route up front; they can advise on mileage packages and any state-specific rules along the way.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I expect?
Budget around 8 to 12 miles per gallon for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 mpg for a Class C, 16 to 22 mpg for a campervan rental in Somerville (Class B), and figure roughly 10 to 14 mpg for the tow vehicle if you're renting a travel trailer. Gas prices in central New Jersey typically run near the national average for regular unleaded, with stations clustered along Route 22, US-202, and I-287. A weekend trip to Round Valley (about 40 miles round trip) might burn $20 to $40 in fuel, while a week-long loop to Cape May and back could run $150 to $250. Pro tip: in New Jersey, gas stations are full-serve by law, so stay in the driver's seat and let the attendant fill up.
nj.gov/oag/newsreleases22/Self-Service-Gasoline-Statement.pdfHow far in advance should I book a campground near Somerville?
For the best campgrounds near Somerville, aim to reserve 3 to 6 months ahead for summer weekends and as early as 11 months out for prime sites at Round Valley or Spruce Run. New Jersey state park campgrounds use the official camping.nj.gov reservation system, which opens an 11-month booking window and lets you pick your exact site. Private parks like Camp Carr or FLA-Net in Flanders often book through their own websites or by phone. Holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day) sell out fastest. Pro tip: if you strike out on a Saturday night, check Sunday-through-Thursday stays, midweek availability is often wide open in Somerset and Hunterdon counties, and rates are lower too.
njportal.com/DEP/NJOutdoors/Support/FaqWhat are local driving conditions like around Somerville?
Driving an RV around Somerville is very manageable once you know the patterns. Route 22 and US-202/206 run right through town and handle RV traffic well, but rush hours (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.) on I-287 and I-78 can be slow, so plan to leave outside those windows. Stick to state and U.S. routes; avoid the Garden State Parkway south of Exit 105 with most RVs, as commercial vehicle restrictions apply, and skip narrow side streets in historic downtowns like Clinton or Lambertville. Watch for low bridges along older county routes; an RV-specific GPS is your best friend. Pro tip: most Somerville hosts can recommend an RV-safe route to your campground, just ask at pickup and they'll mark it on a map.
state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/roads/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Somerville?
You'll find a great mix of amenities at campgrounds within an hour of Somerville. Spruce Run Recreation Area in Clinton offers electric hookups, potable water fills, a dump station, hot showers, and a swim beach. Round Valley has rustic and standard sites with restrooms, potable water, and a nearby dump station. Private parks like FLA-Net in Flanders provide full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, Wi-Fi, laundry, and a pool. For dump stations and water fills between stops, both Spruce Run and Voorhees State Park have public stations open seasonally. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving the campground; potable water fills along I-78 and US-202 can be sparse, and your host will show you where the freshwater inlet is during the walkthrough.
dep.nj.gov/parksandforests/parks/sprucerun/What's actually inside an RVezy rental in Somerville?

Many hosts include a generator or solar setup, an outdoor awning, a TV with Bluetooth speakers, and some offer Wi-Fi hotspots. Travel trailers and fifth wheels tow behind your truck or the host's tow vehicle, while Class B campervans and Class C motorhomes drive like an oversized van. Pickup and drop-off times are set by the host but typically run 1 to 4 p.m. for pickup and 11 a.m. for return. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a kitchen kit for a stress-free first trip, you'll arrive to a fully set up campsite with everything ready.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Somerville%2C+NJHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a major credit or debit card, no cash exchanged with the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500, set based on the RV) is authorized on your card before pickup and released after return, assuming no damage or extra fees like overage mileage or missing fuel. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough video with your host at both pickup and drop-off, document existing dings and the fuel/propane levels, and return the RV clean with tanks dumped if required. Pro tip: ask your Somerville host at pickup exactly what condition they expect at return, dumped tanks, swept floors, and full fuel are the three most common requirements.
