My wife and I rented this van for a weekend trip to go hiking and to test out a bit of van life. The van was great, clean, fully equipped, and everything worked as described. Stephanie is a fantastic host, quick to respond, and genuinely cares to make sure her renters have a good time. I highly recommend.

David was absolutely incredible to work with. He truly saved our family vacation weekend to the Dover NASCAR races, when our other RV reservation cancelled at the last minute. David was extremely prompt with his responses and was so accommodating with drop off and pick up and everything was amazing with the RV. My family and I are extremely grateful for David and our experience with RVezy.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Milford, DE

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Milford, DE?

An RV rental in Milford, DE is one of the more affordable ways to explore the Delaware Beaches and Chesapeake region. Travel trailers typically run about $90 to $160 per night, Class C motorhomes land around $175 to $275, and luxury Class A rigs can reach $350+. To score a cheap RV rental in Milford, aim for shoulder months like April, May, or late September when beach traffic eases but campgrounds are still open. Booking midweek (Sunday to Thursday) and choosing a travel trailer your host delivers can save you another 15 to 25 percent. Pro tip: many Milford-area hosts include generator hours, camp chairs, or beach gear, so compare what is bundled before you book.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Milford, Delaware?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Milford, Delaware. The state does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on RVezy. As an approved driver, you generally need to be 25 or older and upload a clear photo of your license during booking so RVezy can verify your ID through the platform. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home-country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP). With paperwork sorted in minutes, you can focus on planning your Milford RV trip instead.

Is my RV rental in Milford protected if something goes wrong?

Yes, every RV rental in Milford booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head down Route 1 toward the Delaware Beaches feeling secure. You choose your preferred protection tier at checkout (not the host), and each plan covers physical damage to the RV up to defined limits, with deductibles that decrease as you move up tiers. This is not traditional personal auto insurance, but it provides real financial peace of mind for common first-timer worries like a cracked windshield or a minor scrape at a tight Cape Henlopen campsite. Pick your tier at booking, save the confirmation, and you are ready to roll.

What happens if I need to cancel my Milford RV rental?

You can book your RV rental in Milford with confidence because RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy for every reservation. You have a 24-hour grace period after booking to cancel for a full refund (as long as your trip is more than 7 days away), and partial refunds may apply on a sliding scale based on how far out you are from your trip start date. Special circumstances like hurricanes or tropical storms moving up the Delaware coast can also factor in under RVezy's extenuating circumstances guidance. For the exact refund amounts tied to your dates, review the cancellation policy on your booking page or the RVezy Help Center before you confirm.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Milford?

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Milford is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter while searching and you will see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) right in the listing. Many Milford hosts charge a small pet cleaning fee, so read the listing details and message the host before booking to confirm. Once you arrive, Delaware State Parks allow leashed pets at campgrounds including Killens Pond just 15 miles north, and Cape Henlopen State Park has a dedicated dog-friendly beach area outside swim season. Pro tip: pack a tie-out stake and a collapsible water bowl, since shaded sites at Trap Pond and Killens Pond are perfect for pups.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in the Milford area?

Yes, RV delivery in Milford is widely available and it is hands-down the easiest way to start a first-time trip. Many RVezy hosts will tow or drive the rig directly to your campsite at Killens Pond State Park, Tall Pines Camping Resort, or even a private driveway in Lewes or Rehoboth, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location, so picking a host near Milford keeps costs low. Filter by Delivery on RVezy, message the host with your campground address, and you can literally fly into Philadelphia or Baltimore and meet your RV at the site.

Rehoboth Beach and Cape Henlopen are about 25 miles east (roughly 40 minutes), Ocean City, MD sits about 45 miles south, Assateague Island National Seashore with its wild ponies is roughly 65 miles south, and Philadelphia is about 90 miles north. You can even reach Washington, DC (about 110 miles) or Shenandoah National Park (around 200 miles) for a long weekend. Most Milford hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with additional miles typically around $0.30 to $0.40 each, and some offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage. Map your route first, then message hosts about the best mileage match for your itinerary.

Where are the best campgrounds near Milford, DE?

You are spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Milford. Killens Pond State Park (15 miles north in Felton) offers year-round wooded sites with water and electric hookups around a scenic millpond. Cape Henlopen State Park (30 miles east in Lewes) puts you steps from the Atlantic with full bathhouses. Trap Pond State Park (35 miles south) is famous for its bald cypress trees and quiet loops. For resort-style amenities, Tall Pines Camping Resort in Lewes and Sun Outdoors Rehoboth Bay deliver pools, mini-golf, and full hookups. Pro tip: state park sites release one year in advance through the Delaware State Parks reservation system, and summer weekends sell out within days.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Milford?

Milford's humid subtropical climate makes late April through mid-October the sweet spot for RV camping in Milford, with daytime highs ranging from a pleasant 66°F in spring to a warm 86°F in July. June and September are arguably the best months: beach water is warm, crowds at Rehoboth thin out, and overnight lows in the 60s mean comfortable sleeping without running the air conditioner hard. October brings stunning fall color at Trap Pond and Killens Pond plus the wettest weather of the year, so pack rain gear. Winter rentals are possible too, with several state park campgrounds open year-round for self-contained RVs. Pro tip: book July beach trips at least 90 days out.

I'm first time renting an RV. Will I get help figuring it out?

You are absolutely not on your own. Every RVezy host in the Milford area provides a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through the propane, slide-outs, water system, leveling, and dump procedure before you drive away. You can also message the host through the RVezy app for questions mid-trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking. First-timers in Milford love that Route 1 and Route 113 are flat, wide, and easy to drive, and that the rolling farmland of Kent and Sussex counties has nothing like mountain passes to worry about. Pro tip: ask your host to record a quick phone video of the walkthrough so you can replay it at your campsite.

What if my RV breaks down during my Milford trip?

Breathe easy: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 1 or a dead battery at Cape Henlopen is just a phone call away. The roadside team can dispatch help for tire changes, jump-starts, lockouts, towing, and fuel delivery throughout Delaware and the surrounding states. Your host is also a direct resource for quirks specific to their RV, and RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Milford and keep your booking confirmation handy: the Mid-Atlantic has a dense network of service centers, so help is rarely far away.

Can I take my Milford RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Cross-state RV travel from Milford is not just allowed, it is the whole point. Most hosts welcome trips into Maryland (Assateague, Ocean City), Virginia (Chincoteague, Shenandoah), Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, the Poconos), New Jersey, and beyond, and the included protection package covers travel throughout the continental United States. Trips into Canada may be possible with advance host approval and additional insurance arrangements, so message the host before booking if a cross-border trip is your goal. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular routes from Milford include the Delmarva loop down to Chincoteague (90 miles) and the Brandywine wine-country run north (60 miles).

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?

Budgeting fuel for your Milford RV trip is straightforward. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A rigs around 6 to 10 mpg, Class B campervans 15 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 mpg combined). Delaware enjoys some of the lowest gas prices in the Northeast and there is no sales tax, so fueling up in Milford before crossing into Maryland or New Jersey actually saves money. A typical 4-night round-trip from Milford to Assateague (about 120 miles total) in a Class C costs roughly $50 to $70 in fuel. Pro tip: top off at Wawa on Route 113 where diesel is widely available.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Milford?

For the best campgrounds near Milford, book early. Delaware State Parks open reservations exactly one year in advance through their official reservation system, and prime summer weekends at Cape Henlopen and Delaware Seashore sell out within minutes of release. For Killens Pond and Trap Pond, aim for 4 to 6 months ahead for July and August weekends, and 2 to 3 months for shoulder season. Private parks like Tall Pines and Sun Outdoors Rehoboth Bay typically open availability 12 to 18 months out. Pro tip: if your dates are sold out, set a cancellation alert; the state parks have an 18-day change freeze and many campers shuffle plans, freeing up sites all summer long.

What is driving an RV like around Milford and the Delaware Beaches?

Driving a motorhome rental in Milford is genuinely easy compared to most US destinations. The region is flat, the main arteries (Route 1, Route 113, Route 13) are wide with generous shoulders, and there are no mountain passes, tunnels, or low bridges to navigate on a typical beach trip. Summer Saturday traffic on Route 1 between Dover and Rehoboth can crawl from late morning to mid-afternoon, so plan to drive before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Watch for the seasonal beach-town speed reductions in Lewes, Dewey, and Bethany. Pro tip: avoid the Indian River Inlet Bridge during strong coastal winds and stick to Coastal Highway when towing.
deldot.gov/travel/index.shtml

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Milford?

Campgrounds near Milford strike a great balance between nature and convenience. Delaware State Parks like Killens Pond and Cape Henlopen offer water and 30/50-amp electric hookups, clean bathhouses with free hot showers, dump stations, and potable water fill-ups, though full sewer hookups at the site are rare in state parks. Private resorts like Tall Pines Camping Resort and Sun Outdoors Rehoboth Bay add full hookups, pools, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Outside firewood is banned in Delaware State Parks due to the Spotted Lanternfly quarantine, so plan to buy it on site. Pro tip: Cape Henlopen's dump station handles big-rig traffic well, and there is a free dump at the Lewes Transfer Station for day-trippers.

What features and amenities come inside a typical RV rental in Milford?

Your campervan rental in Milford or motorhome rental in Milford will arrive trip-ready with the essentials and then some. Expect a real bed (queen in most Class C and Class B rigs), a functional kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (roof AC and propane furnace), and seatbelted seating for travel. Most listings include linens, kitchenware, an outdoor table, and a backup camera. Many Milford hosts also offer Wi-Fi hotspots, onboard generators, solar panels, and TVs as standard or as add-ons. Check the Amenities section of each listing carefully, and message the host if you need something specific like a Pack 'n Play or beach chairs.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicles

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

RVezy hosts in Milford offer a smart menu of add-ons that make your trip easier. Common extras include generator usage (often $3 to $5 per hour beyond included hours), kitchen kits, linen packages, bike racks, kayak racks, propane refills, and outdoor grills, typically running $25 to $75 each. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Milford, Lincoln, Harrington, or nearby Sussex County towns, and dropoff is at the same location unless you arrange delivery. Mileage allowances normally run 100 to 150 free miles per night with additional miles around $0.30 to $0.40. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and pickup-haul-away into one package if it is your first time, and you will literally just show up and unpack.
fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/rv-safety

How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment for your RV rental in Milford is handled securely through the RVezy platform, never directly to the host. You pay with a credit or debit card at booking, the funds are held safely, and the host is paid out after your trip starts so there is built-in accountability on both sides. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is separate from your booking payment and is authorized on your card before pickup, then released after the host confirms the rig was returned clean, undamaged, and on time. To avoid hold-ups: do a thorough walkaround video at pickup, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the tanks at a dump station before dropoff.

What is a hidden-gem local tip for an RV trip from Milford?

Here is the insider move most visitors miss: spend a night at Killens Pond State Park midweek, then drive 20 minutes east to Slaughter Beach, a tiny Delaware Bay village that becomes a horseshoe crab spawning hotspot every May and June under the full moon. It is one of the most important horseshoe crab beaches on Earth, and Milford is the closest RV-friendly base. Pair that with a stop at the Mispillion Riverwalk in downtown Milford for ice cream at King's, then point the rig south for sunrise at Cape Henlopen. A family RV trip Milford itinerary combining quiet bay nights and lively beach days beats a straight Rehoboth trip every time.
