We were first-time Sprinter van renters, and Jonathan and Allison made the entire experience easy and stress-free. They were incredibly responsive in their communication, and Jonathan’s detailed intro video was both comprehensive and extremely helpful. Thanks to them, we had a fantastic trip to Everglades National Park. We would absolutely rent from them again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Islamorada, FL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Islamorada, FL?
RV rental in Islamorada is more affordable than you might expect for a Florida Keys getaway. Motorhomes near Islamorada typically average around $200 to $250 per night, while travel trailers run closer to $125 to $175 per night, and many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly or monthly bookings. For a cheaper RV rental in Islamorada, search Sunday-to-Thursday dates outside the December-to-April snowbird peak, when prices drop noticeably. Pro tip: filter by towable trailers and add delivery from a host, you skip steep marina parking fees and have your basecamp ready before you arrive.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Islamorada%2C%20FloridaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Islamorada, FL?
Good news, a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Islamorada, FL. Florida law specifically exempts personal-use recreational vehicles from Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requirements, so even a 30-foot Class C motorhome is fair game with your standard license. You'll just need to be 25 or older and complete RVezy's quick ID verification through the platform. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home-country license. Most first-timers are surprised how stress-free the Overseas Highway drive is once they're behind the wheel.
flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/commercial-driver-licenses/What protection is included with my Islamorada RV rental?
Every RV rental in Islamorada booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head down the Overseas Highway knowing you are covered. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV and gives you real financial peace of mind. During checkout you choose the level of protection that fits your trip, so you stay in control of your coverage. Pro tip: in the Keys, the salt air and tight parking lots make the protection plan a smart safety net for everything from a parking ding at Founders Park to a flat tire on US-1.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy for an RV rental in Islamorada?
Booking your Islamorada RV trip is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and it includes a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. If a hurricane warning or other major event impacts the Keys during your dates, RVezy's support team can help you sort out next steps, which matters during Atlantic hurricane season from June through November. Because the refund amount depends on how far out your trip is, the full breakdown lives in the RVezy Help Center. Pro tip: lock in spring dates early, April in Islamorada is gorgeous and cancellations are rare.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an Islamorada RV trip?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Islamorada is easy to find, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see plenty of hosts who welcome dogs. Once you're here, your pup will love Anne's Beach on Lower Matecumbe Key, a leashed-dog-friendly shoreline with shallow flats perfect for splashing, and Founders Park has a dedicated dog park with separate small- and large-dog areas. Long Key State Park also allows leashed pets at the campground and on most trails. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and bring a freshwater rinse jug, the salt and sand are tough on paws after a Keys beach day.
islamorada.fl.us/parks_and_recreation/index.phpCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Islamorada?
Yes, RV delivery in Islamorada is one of the smartest moves for first-timers and anyone flying into Miami. Many RVezy hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer directly to campgrounds like Fiesta Key RV Resort, Sun Outdoors Islamorada, or a private home along the Overseas Highway, set it up, connect to hookups, and walk you through everything from the AC to the awning. Just use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host with your campground address to confirm the fee, which often scales with distance from their home base. Pro tip: delivery is gold if you are nervous about driving a rig over the Keys' narrow two-lane bridges.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Islamorada%2C%20FloridaHow far can I drive on a typical Islamorada RV rental?
You can cover a lot of the Keys without burning through your mileage allowance. From Islamorada at Mile Marker 82, Key Largo is about 25 miles north, Marathon and the famous Seven Mile Bridge are 30 miles south, and Key West is roughly 80 miles down the Overseas Highway, an easy two-hour scenic drive. Each host sets a daily mileage cap (often 100 to 150 miles per day) and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage as an add-on or discount. Pro tip: ask about an unlimited mileage upgrade if you plan a Miami-to-Key West RV road trip from Islamorada, it usually pays for itself.
fdot.gov/agencyresources/mapsandpublications/maps/general-interest-mapsWhere are the best campgrounds near Islamorada to park an RV?
There are excellent campgrounds within minutes of Islamorada, all offering full hookups and that Keys vibe. Fiesta Key RV Resort, just south at Mile Marker 70, sits on its own 28-acre private island with an oceanfront pool and marina. Sun Outdoors Islamorada offers waterfront sites and easy reef-trip access, while Long Key State Park (Mile Marker 67.5) has 60 oceanfront campsites with water and electric for rigs up to 45 feet at about $43 per night including the Monroe County surcharge. Key Largo Kampground & Marina rounds out the favorites 25 miles north. Pro tip: book Long Key State Park 10 to 11 months out through reserve.floridastateparks.org, those oceanfront sites disappear fast.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/long-key-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an Islamorada RV trip?
Islamorada is a year-round destination, but the sweet spot is December through April when daytime temperatures sit in the mid-70s to low-80s°F, humidity is low, and rainfall is minimal. April and early May are an angler's dream with tarpon season in full swing and slightly thinner crowds. Summer (June to October) brings high-80s to 90s°F heat, daily afternoon thunderstorms, and Atlantic hurricane season, so RV camping in Islamorada during shoulder months like late October or early December gets you warm water and lower rates. Pro tip: time your trip around the Islamorada Seafood Festival in spring for an unforgettable local food experience.
weather.gov/key/I've never driven an RV before, can I really handle the Keys?
Absolutely, the Overseas Highway (US-1) is one of the most beginner-friendly RV drives in America, it's mostly flat, well-marked, and a single road from Florida City to Key West. Your RVezy host walks you through the entire rig at pickup, from leveling jacks to dumping tanks, so you're not figuring anything out alone. First time renting an RV? Pick a Class C motorhome or a 20-25 foot travel trailer for an easier first drive, and consider delivery so the host parks it for you. Pro tip: aim to cross the Seven Mile Bridge in the morning when winds are calmer, the views of turquoise water are unreal.
fdot.gov/safety/What happens if my RV breaks down in Islamorada?
You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, which is reassuring on a chain of islands connected by dozens of bridges. One call gets you help with flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, or tows to a Keys-area service center. Your host is also a quick message away for questions about the specific rig. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number in your phone before leaving Florida City, cell service can get spotty in spots between Long Key and Marathon, so program contacts while you still have full bars.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take an RV from Islamorada into other states or Canada?
You can absolutely turn your Islamorada trip into a bigger RV road trip from Islamorada, popular routes head north to Everglades National Park (about 60 miles), Miami (about 85 miles), Naples via the Tamiami Trail (about 140 miles), or up the Atlantic coast to St. Augustine. Cross-state travel within the US is generally fine, just confirm your route with the host since some set geographic limits. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. Canada-bound trips may be possible depending on the host, message them directly to ask. Pro tip: a Miami-to-Keys loop with the host's approval makes a perfect 7-day itinerary.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on an Islamorada RV trip?
Fuel is one of the more predictable costs of a Keys trip since you're essentially driving one road. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans get 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Gas in Monroe County usually runs $0.30 to $0.60 higher per gallon than mainland Florida, so fill up in Florida City before crossing into Key Largo. A round trip from Islamorada to Key West and back (about 160 miles) in a Class C will run roughly $50 to $70 in fuel. Pro tip: the Shell at Mile Marker 84 in Islamorada is one of the more competitively priced stations in the Upper Keys.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground in Islamorada?
For peak winter season (December through April), book your Islamorada campground 6 to 11 months ahead, the Florida Keys are one of the most reservation-competitive destinations in the country. Florida State Parks like Long Key open reservations 11 months in advance through reserve.floridastateparks.org. Private resorts like Fiesta Key RV Resort and Sun Outdoors Islamorada take direct bookings on their websites. For summer and early fall, you can often score sites 2 to 4 weeks out. Pro tip: check the Florida State Parks reservation site regularly for Long Key, oceanfront sites open up when other guests change plans.
