I would to thank Carlos Acuna and his wife the the excellent rental RV they provided for me at the EAA Sun-n-Fun event in Lakeland, Florida recently. They provided a beautiful and extremely clean RV for us. They accomplished a complete setup and gave me a very good briefing on the operational aspects of the RV. The personal touches such as the personalized Welcome sign, snacks, coffee, and other items were greatly appreciated. I will definitely attempt to rent from them again in the future.

Miguel and Anna were amazing to rent from. Miguel installed my Wieght Distrobution Hitch and attached to our Truck. Anna was warm and considerate, chatting with us both before we left and again when we returned the camper. Anna also provided us oranges as a gift how nice is that! I would recommend this rental to others.

Great Experience! I Highly recommend! All you need to do is bring yourself, your clothes, and some food. Just about everything else is provided. They have a weight distribution hitch (which saved me a lot of money). They even had the cable to hook up my generator. Their A/C blew ice cold air, the refrigerator kept everything cold and the freezer worked perfectly. If you can get fresh water, you leave and have hot showers! All you have to do is back up your vehicle, hitch it up and go have fun. The owners are Very helpful and communicate very quickly to help with any questions you have. I would definitely rent from them again and highly recommend them. Thank you so much for a great experience.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Lake Wales, FL

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Lake Wales, FL?

Good news: RV rental in Lake Wales is one of the best values in Central Florida, especially compared to nearby Orlando. On RVezy, you can expect to pay roughly $90 to $175 per night for a campervan or smaller travel trailer, $150 to $250 for a Class C motorhome, and $250 to $400 per night for a luxury Class A. Hosts set their own pricing, so weekday stays and trips outside the December to April snowbird peak typically deliver the lowest rates. For a cheap RV rental in Lake Wales, filter by travel trailers (delivery often makes them the best deal), book 6 to 8 weeks ahead, and message hosts about weekly discounts. Many will knock 10 to 20 percent off stays of seven nights or longer.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Lake Wales?

A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Lake Wales, no commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement required. Florida does not require a CDL for personal-use RV drivers, even for the biggest Class A motorhomes. You'll need to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID in the app before your trip. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit and you're set. Most first-time renters in Polk County are surprised how quick the booking process really is.

What's included for protection and peace of mind on my Lake Wales RV rental?

Every RV rental in Lake Wales booked through RVezy includes a protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit US Highway 27 with confidence. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, giving you significant financial peace of mind. You choose your coverage level during checkout, with multiple tiers available so you can match protection to your comfort level and budget. Hosts don't pick the plan, you do. Pro tip: take a quick video walk-around with your host at pickup in Lake Wales so any pre-existing scuffs are documented and your security deposit returns smoothly.

What if my Lake Wales trip plans change, can I cancel?

Yes, booking is low-risk. RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy, and there's a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, your refund amount depends on how far out from your trip you cancel and the circumstances. You'll see the exact terms before you confirm payment, so there are no surprises. Pro tip: the Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, so if you're booking a summer Lake Wales RV trip, keep an eye on the National Hurricane Center and reach out to RVezy support early if a storm forms near Polk County.

Can I bring my dog on a Lake Wales RV rental?

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Lake Wales is easy to find. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see dozens of listings where four-legged co-pilots are welcome. Once you're here, your dog will love the area: Lake Wailes Park has a leash-friendly 1.1-mile loop trail around the lake, Bok Tower Gardens allows leashed pets on the outer grounds, and Lake Kissimmee State Park welcomes leashed pets in the campground and on most trails. Many local RV parks, including Camp Mack and Camp Central RV Park, have dedicated dog runs. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees (typically $25 to $75 per trip) and any breed or weight rules.

Can the RV be delivered right to my campground in Lake Wales?

Yes, RV delivery in Lake Wales is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to popular spots like Camp Mack on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, Lake Kissimmee State Park, Camp Central RV Park, or Encore Lake Magic, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees usually run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to see which listings offer it, then message the host with your campsite number and arrival date to lock it in.

How far can I drive on my Lake Wales RV trip, and how does mileage work?

You've got a lot of Florida within easy reach from Lake Wales, and many hosts offer generous (or unlimited) mileage allowances. Most listings include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with extra miles around $0.30 to $0.45 each. To put that in perspective from Lake Wales: Walt Disney World is about 45 miles north, Tampa is 70 miles west, Cocoa Beach is 90 miles east, the Everglades start around 165 miles south, and Key Largo is roughly 235 miles. For longer adventures, filter for RV rental with unlimited mileage or message hosts directly to negotiate a mileage package. Pro tip: a quick out-and-back to Anna Maria Island makes a great low-mileage day trip.

Where should I camp during my Lake Wales RV trip?

You're spoiled for choice on RV camping in Lake Wales. Local favorites include Camp Mack on Camp Mack Road, with full hookups right on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes for world-class bass fishing; Lake Kissimmee State Park, with shaded oak-hammock sites and miles of trails (check current campground status before booking); Camp Central RV Park on US-27 with big-rig-friendly sites and a heated pool; Lake Wales Campground, a wooded park with an indoor heated pool; and Encore Lake Magic, popular with families heading to LEGOLAND. Book 2 to 4 months ahead during the December to April high season and you'll have your pick of the best campgrounds near Lake Wales.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/lake-kissimmee-state-park

When is the best time of year for a Lake Wales RV trip?

November through April is the sweet spot for RV camping in Lake Wales. Daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit, nights cool to the 40s and 50s, humidity drops, and mosquitoes basically take a vacation. This is also why Lake Wales is a snowbird magnet, so book early. May through October brings hot, humid days (highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, with August averaging around 93 degrees) plus near-daily afternoon thunderstorms and Atlantic hurricane season from June 1 to November 30. Summer is still great if you want LEGOLAND deals and quieter campgrounds, just pick an RV with strong air conditioning. Pro tip: late October hits the perfect balance of warm lakes and fewer crowds.

I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay in Lake Wales?

You'll do great, Lake Wales is genuinely one of the friendlier places in Florida to learn. The terrain is flat, US-27 and SR-60 are wide divided highways with generous shoulders, and most campgrounds in the area are big-rig-friendly with pull-through sites. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, covering driving, leveling, water, propane, generator, and dump procedures, and you can text or call them throughout your trip. If you're nervous about driving, book a host who offers delivery and let them set up the RV at your campground. Pro tip: skip the urban Orlando traffic on I-4 by taking US-27 north, it's straight, calm, and made for first-time RV drivers.
fdot.gov/safety/2a-programs/driver-education.shtm

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat on US-27, lose power at Camp Mack, or have a tow vehicle issue near Lake Kissimmee, one phone call gets help dispatched. You can also message your host directly through the app, and most local Lake Wales hosts respond within minutes, with many willing to drive out personally for small fixes since they live nearby. RVezy's customer support team is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a photo of the nearest mile marker on US-27 or SR-60 before calling roadside, it speeds up dispatch significantly in rural Polk County.

Can I take my Lake Wales RV rental on a longer road trip across Florida or beyond?

Yes, an RV road trip from Lake Wales opens up incredible routes. Within Florida, you can reach the Keys in about 5 hours, St. Augustine in 2.5 hours, the Gulf Coast beaches in under 90 minutes, and the Everglades in roughly 3 hours. Crossing state lines into Georgia, Alabama, or the Carolinas is allowed with most hosts, just confirm in a quick message before booking since some hosts cap travel range. One important rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance doesn't extend there. Pro tip: the classic loop from Lake Wales hits LEGOLAND, Sanibel Island, Naples, and the Everglades in 5 to 7 days, perfect for a first big trip.
visitflorida.com/places-to-go/

How much should I budget for fuel on my Lake Wales RV trip?

Florida's gas prices are typically among the lower in the Southeast, which helps keep your fuel budget manageable. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A coaches roughly 6 to 10 MPG. A weeklong loop of 600 miles in a Class C with regular unleaded around $3.10/gallon works out to roughly $180 in fuel. You'll find the most competitive prices at the Pilot and Love's travel centers along US-27 and I-4. Pro tip: fill up before turning onto SR-60 east toward Lake Kissimmee State Park, gas stations thin out quickly once you leave the US-27 corridor.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far ahead should I book a campground near Lake Wales?

For peak season (December through April), Florida State Parks like Lake Kissimmee State Park open reservations 11 months out at 8 a.m. ET through ReserveAmerica at FloridaStateParks.org or by calling 800-326-3521. Private parks like Camp Mack, Camp Central RV Park, and Encore Lake Magic typically book 2 to 4 months in advance during snowbird season, and 2 to 3 weeks ahead in summer. If your dates are flexible, weekday arrivals (Sunday through Thursday) almost always have availability. Pro tip: set up cancellation alerts for sold-out state park sites, last-minute openings pop up daily, especially within 7 days of arrival.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservation-information

What are the local driving conditions like around Lake Wales?

Driving an RV around Lake Wales is refreshingly easy. Polk County roads are flat, traffic is light outside of Orlando rush hour, and the main arteries (US-27, US-17, SR-60) are wide and well-maintained. Watch for two quirks: summer afternoon thunderstorms can drop visibility fast between 2 and 6 p.m., so pull off if you see dark clouds building, and US-27 has occasional citrus-truck traffic in winter harvest months. Florida's RV height limit is 13 feet 6 inches and width is 8 feet 6 inches, well within any rental you'll book. Local insider tip: drive up to Spook Hill on North Wales Drive in your car (not the RV) for the famous gravity-defying optical illusion that locals have loved since the 1950s.
fdot.gov/traffic/trafficservices/

What amenities can I expect at Lake Wales campgrounds?

Most RV parks near Lake Wales come well-equipped. Camp Mack, Camp Central RV Park, and Lake Wales Campground all offer full hookups (30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer), heated pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, and dump stations. Lake Kissimmee State Park sites have 30-amp electric and water but no sewer hookup, so you'll use the on-site dump station before leaving. Need to fill fresh water on the road? Most state parks and private campgrounds have a potable water spigot near the entrance, and Love's Travel Stop in Haines City (15 miles north) has a dedicated RV dump and fill station. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose, several Lake Wales sites have hookups farther from the pad than you'd expect.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/lake-kissimmee-state-park/experiences-amenities

What's inside a typical RV rental in Lake Wales?

You'll be impressed by how home-like a Lake Wales motorhome rental can feel. Most rentals on RVezy sleep 4 to 8, with a queen bed, convertible dinette, real kitchen (fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink), full bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted air conditioning (a must for Florida), heat, and a flat-screen TV. Many also include a generator, outdoor speakers, awning, camp chairs, leveling blocks, and a starter kit of dishes and linens. Class B campervan rental options in Lake Wales are perfect for couples, while Class A and large Class C rigs are great for family RV trips to LEGOLAND. Pro tip: filter listings for solar or generator if you want to boondock at Lake Wales Ridge State Forest.
fdacs.gov/Consumer-Resources/Recreation-and-Leisure/Camping

What add-ons can I get with my Lake Wales RV rental, and how does pickup work?

Hosts in Lake Wales offer a fun lineup of add-ons that can transform your trip: linen and kitchen packages ($30 to $75), camping chairs and outdoor rugs, generators, bike racks, kayaks (perfect for the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes), portable grills, and even Starlink satellite internet. Pickup is typically at the host's home in or around Lake Wales, Winter Haven, or Haines City, with a 60 to 90-minute walkthrough included. Most hosts offer flexible pickup windows between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and many include delivery for a per-mile fee. Mileage allowances range from 100 free miles per night to unlimited, so check the listing details. Pro tip: ask about a fishing-gear add-on, several Lake Wales hosts include rods, tackle, and a Florida fishing license tip sheet.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card, never directly to the host, which keeps you protected. You'll see the full price (nightly rate, mileage, fees, taxes, protection plan) before you confirm. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before your trip (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV), then released after a clean return. To avoid issues with your Lake Wales RV rental deposit: do a thorough walk-around video at pickup and return, refill the propane and fuel, dump the tanks at the on-site station at Camp Central or Camp Mack, and stay under your mileage cap. Pro tip: hosts overwhelmingly return full deposits, communication is the secret.

What are the best road trip destinations from Lake Wales?

An RV road trip from Lake Wales puts you within easy reach of Florida's greatest hits. Top picks: Walt Disney World and LEGOLAND Florida (under an hour north, perfect for a family RV trip from Lake Wales), Anna Maria Island and the Gulf beaches (about 90 minutes west), Cocoa Beach and Kennedy Space Center (about 2 hours east), Sanibel and Naples (3 hours southwest), the Florida Keys (5 to 6 hours south), and St. Augustine, America's oldest city (about 2.5 hours north). For a slower pace, Bok Tower Gardens is 10 minutes from downtown Lake Wales and worth a half-day. Pro tip: combine Lake Kissimmee State Park (when reopened) with Kissimmee Prairie Preserve, a designated International Dark Sky Park, for unforgettable stargazing.
