I would to thank Carlos Acuna and his wife the the excellent rental RV they provided for me at the EAA Sun-n-Fun event in Lakeland, Florida recently. They provided a beautiful and extremely clean RV for us. They accomplished a complete setup and gave me a very good briefing on the operational aspects of the RV. The personal touches such as the personalized Welcome sign, snacks, coffee, and other items were greatly appreciated. I will definitely attempt to rent from them again in the future.

Great Experience! I Highly recommend! All you need to do is bring yourself, your clothes, and some food. Just about everything else is provided. They have a weight distribution hitch (which saved me a lot of money). They even had the cable to hook up my generator. Their A/C blew ice cold air, the refrigerator kept everything cold and the freezer worked perfectly. If you can get fresh water, you leave and have hot showers! All you have to do is back up your vehicle, hitch it up and go have fun. The owners are Very helpful and communicate very quickly to help with any questions you have. I would definitely rent from them again and highly recommend them. Thank you so much for a great experience.

I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving around Lakeland?

You'll be fine. Lakeland is one of the easier first-time RV regions in Florida. The terrain is flat, I-4 and the Polk Parkway are well-marked and well-maintained, and your host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, water, propane, and the dump valve. First time renting an RV here? Stick to travel trailers or Class C motorhomes (easier to handle than Class A coaches) and choose delivery so you skip the driving entirely. Practice in a large, empty parking lot before hitting the highway. Pro tip: download an RV-specific GPS app like RV Trip Wizard to filter out low bridges, and always confirm your rig's total height before heading out.

Can I take my Lakeland Highlands RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, most RVezy hosts in Lakeland Highlands welcome multi-state road trips, Georgia, Alabama, and the Carolinas are all popular routes from here. Just confirm with your host through the listing's message feature before you book, since some have mileage caps or preferred regions. Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed with host approval and the right paperwork, but travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to insurance limitations. Popular routes from Lakeland include the Florida Keys (around 260 miles south), the Smoky Mountains (about 650 miles north), and Savannah, Georgia (roughly 385 miles). Pro tip: for any trip over 500 miles one-way, ask the host about a longer rental discount, many offer 10 to 15% off weekly stays.

What's the fuel budget for an RV trip around Lakeland Highlands?

Class C motorhomes average 8 to 10 MPG, Class A coaches around 6 to 8 MPG, and a tow vehicle with a travel trailer typically gets 10 to 13 MPG. Florida gas prices generally sit close to the national average, and many stations along US-98 and US-92 have RV-friendly pump access. A typical 300-mile Lakeland-to-Tampa-to-Clearwater loop runs roughly $100 to $150 in gas for a Class C. Pro tip: download GasBuddy and fuel up in unincorporated Polk County rather than inside Tampa or Orlando city limits, you'll often save 15 to 25 cents per gallon.

Private resorts like Sanlan RV & Golf Resort and Camp Margaritaville Auburndale typically fill 2 to 4 months ahead in peak season. Polk County parks, including Saddle Creek, take reservations through the county's online portal up to 6 months out. Pro tip: if you're booking last minute, target weekdays, Sunday through Thursday at Saddle Creek and Colt Creek almost always has openings, even in February.

What are local driving conditions like around Lakeland Highlands?

Driving conditions around Lakeland Highlands are RV-friendly: the terrain is flat, the highways are wide, and I-4, US-98, and the Polk Parkway all handle big rigs comfortably. Watch for two things: summer afternoon thunderstorms (June to September often bring brief but heavy downpours, pull over and wait it out), and the I-4 corridor between Lakeland and Orlando, which sees heavy weekday traffic from 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM. Avoid low-clearance areas in downtown Lakeland near Munn Park where oak canopies hang low. Pro tip: use the Polk Parkway (toll road FL-570) to bypass I-4 congestion, it's flat, low-traffic, and connects Lakeland Highlands straight to I-4 at both ends without the stop-and-go.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Lakeland Highlands?

Central Florida campgrounds are well-equipped, expect full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer) at most private RV resorts like Sanlan, Lakeland RV Resort, and Camp Margaritaville Auburndale. State parks like Colt Creek and Lake Kissimmee provide 30/50-amp electric and water at each site plus centralized dump stations. Most campgrounds offer Wi-Fi, laundry, hot showers, swimming pools, and picnic pavilions. Need to refill fresh water or dump tanks between stops? Saddle Creek Park has a free public dump station for Polk County visitors, and most Pilot/Flying J truck stops along I-4 offer dump and fill services for around $15. Pro tip: keep a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 25-foot sewer hose, Florida sites are spacious and your RV's onboard hoses can come up short.

How does payment and the security deposit work for an RVezy booking?

Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book a Lakeland Highlands RV rental on RVezy, you pay the full trip cost through the platform with a credit or debit card, no cash changes hands with the host. A refundable security deposit (typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV) is held separately from your booking payment and released after drop-off, assuming the RV comes back in the same condition. The deposit covers minor issues outside the protection plan, like missing camp chairs or excessive cleaning. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off and share it with your host through the RVezy message thread, it's the simplest way to ensure your deposit comes back smoothly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Where can I park an RV in Lakeland Highlands overnight outside of a campground?

You've got solid options. Where to park an RV in Lakeland Highlands legally for a night can include certain Walmart Supercenters and Cracker Barrel locations that permit overnight RV parking with manager approval, as well as truck stops like the Flying J Travel Center near Auburndale off I-4. The City of Lakeland prohibits overnight parking on public streets and in most city parks, so stick to designated lots or campgrounds. For a more natural experience, the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve (managed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District) offers permit-based primitive camping a short drive northwest. Pro tip: always call the Walmart or Cracker Barrel ahead, individual managers have final say and a quick call confirms your spot before you arrive after dark.
