I would to thank Carlos Acuna and his wife the the excellent rental RV they provided for me at the EAA Sun-n-Fun event in Lakeland, Florida recently. They provided a beautiful and extremely clean RV for us. They accomplished a complete setup and gave me a very good briefing on the operational aspects of the RV. The personal touches such as the personalized Welcome sign, snacks, coffee, and other items were greatly appreciated. I will definitely attempt to rent from them again in the future.

Great Experience! I Highly recommend! All you need to do is bring yourself, your clothes, and some food. Just about everything else is provided. They have a weight distribution hitch (which saved me a lot of money). They even had the cable to hook up my generator. Their A/C blew ice cold air, the refrigerator kept everything cold and the freezer worked perfectly. If you can get fresh water, you leave and have hot showers! All you have to do is back up your vehicle, hitch it up and go have fun. The owners are Very helpful and communicate very quickly to help with any questions you have. I would definitely rent from them again and highly recommend them. Thank you so much for a great experience.

When is the best time to visit Willow Oak in an RV?

The sweet spot for RV camping in Willow Oak is October through April, when daytime highs sit comfortably in the 70s and 80s and humidity drops to enjoyable levels. January and February average highs around 72°F with cool 50°F nights, perfect for campfires under the Spanish moss. Summer (June to September) brings highs in the low 90s, daily afternoon thunderstorms, and an active Atlantic hurricane season that runs June 1 to November 30, though early-morning trips and air-conditioned RVs keep it doable. Spring break and the winter holidays book up fast across Polk County. Pro tip: shoulder months like late October and March deliver warm beach days at Clearwater and Anna Maria Island without the snowbird crowds or peak nightly rates.

I've never rented an RV before. Is it really doable?

Totally doable, and Willow Oak is one of the easiest places in Florida to learn. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, water systems, slide-outs, and dumping basics, so you're never left guessing. Polk County roads are mostly flat with wide lanes, and US-98 and SR-60 are RV-friendly routes to ease into. If big-rig driving feels intimidating, choose a Class B campervan or book a travel trailer with delivery so you don't have to tow at all. Pro tip: pick a campground within 20 to 30 minutes of pickup for your first night so you can settle in early, test every system, and call your host with any questions.

What if something breaks down during my RV trip?

You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on I-4, a dead battery at Lake Kissimmee State Park, or a generator hiccup at Cypress Campground, help is one phone call away. Your host is also your first resource: most Willow Oak hosts know their rig inside and out and can troubleshoot quickly by phone or text. For mechanical issues beyond a quick fix, the roadside team will dispatch a technician or arrange a tow. RVezy customer support is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's number in your phone before you pull away from pickup, so help is always one tap away.

Can I take a Willow Oak RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?

Yes, interstate road trips are popular with an RV rental in Florida, and most hosts allow travel throughout the continental US. From Willow Oak you can head north to Georgia's Stephen C. Foster State Park, west to the Gulf Coast of Alabama, or up the Atlantic seaboard. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage doesn't extend there. Canada may be allowed depending on the host, so message them directly through the listing before booking. Pro tip: a great RV road trip from Willow Oak is the Gulf Coast loop, hitting St. Pete Beach, Cedar Key, and Pensacola, all doable in a Class C motorhome within a week.

What's the fuel cost for an RV trip from Willow Oak?

Fuel is one of your biggest variables, but it's easy to budget. Florida gas prices typically run close to the national average, with regular unleaded in Polk County generally in the $3.00 to $3.50 per gallon range. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 10 miles per gallon (mpg), Class A coaches 6 to 8 mpg, campervans around 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. A typical 500-mile loop from Willow Oak to Clearwater, Orlando, and back in a Class C runs roughly $175 to $225 in fuel. Pro tip: large travel centers like Wawa or Buc-ee's along I-4 often have competitive diesel and gas prices in the region.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far ahead should I book a campground near Willow Oak?

For the most popular Polk County campgrounds, book as soon as you lock in your RV. Florida State Parks (including Lake Kissimmee and Highlands Hammock) open reservations 11 months in advance through ReserveAmerica's Florida portal, and winter weekends often fill the same day they open. Private parks like Camp Margaritaville, Cypress Campground, and Lakeland RV Resort typically need 2 to 4 months of lead time for peak season (December to March), but you can often snag midweek sites with just a week's notice. For summer and fall trips, 2 to 3 weeks ahead is usually plenty. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder exactly 11 months out at 8 a.m. ET for your dream state park weekend.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/lake-kissimmee-state-park

What are the driving conditions like around Willow Oak?

Willow Oak driving is very RV-friendly: flat terrain, no mountain passes, and wide rural highways like US-98 and SR-60. Interstate 4 connects you to Tampa and Orlando but can get congested between 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m., so plan departures around rush hour. Watch for sudden afternoon thunderstorms from June through September and pull over safely if visibility drops. Low-clearance worries are minimal here, but always check height before downtown Tampa or Orlando overpasses. Love bug season (typically May and September) can coat your windshield, so keep washer fluid topped up. Pro tip: skip I-4 by taking US-92 between Lakeland and Auburndale; it's a calmer, scenic alternative perfect for an RV.

What amenities do campgrounds near Willow Oak offer?

Most campgrounds near Willow Oak are well equipped for stress-free RV camping. Private parks like Lakeland RV Resort, Camp Margaritaville, and Cypress Campground & RV Park offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, pools, laundry, and on-site dump stations. Florida State Parks such as Lake Kissimmee provide water and electric at most sites plus a central dump station and potable water fill. Many Love's Travel Stops along I-4 in Lakeland and Auburndale also offer dump and water-fill services. Pro tip: book a full hookup site for stays longer than two nights so you can run AC continuously, which you'll appreciate during Florida's humid afternoons.

What's included inside an RV rental in Willow Oak?

Willow Oak rentals come ready for adventure. Expect a kitchen with a fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, and most hosts provide pots, pans, dishes, and coffee makers. Sleeping setups range from cozy 2-berth campervans to family-sized motorhomes that sleep 6 to 8, all with seatbelts for safe travel. Bathrooms typically include a toilet, sink, and shower, and larger Class A and Class C units often have a separate bedroom. Air conditioning is standard (a must in Florida), and most rigs include a generator, propane heat, awning, and outdoor chairs. TVs are common, and many hosts offer Wi-Fi hotspots as add-ons. Pro tip: check each listing's amenities tab before booking to confirm linens, towels, and a starter kit are included so you can pack lighter.

What add-ons and pickup options do Willow Oak hosts offer?

Hosts in Willow Oak make customizing your trip easy. Common add-ons include extra generator hours, bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor mats, bike racks, kayak or SUP rentals, fully stocked kitchen kits, and pet packages. Many hosts offer delivery within a set radius (often free under a short distance and a per-mile fee beyond), as well as campground setup. Pickup is typically scheduled between 1 and 4 p.m. with dropoff by 11 a.m., though some offer Instant Book and flexible hours. Mileage allowances usually range from 100 to 150 miles per day, with unlimited mileage available on some listings. Pro tip: bundling delivery, setup, and a linen kit transforms a motorhome rental Willow Oak booking into a true turnkey vacation.

How do payments and the security deposit work?

Payments are simple and fully handled through RVezy: you pay securely online with a credit or debit card when you book, never in cash directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before the trip (amounts vary by RV class and listing), and it's released back to you after dropoff once the host confirms there's no damage and the rig is returned with the agreed fuel and tank levels. To avoid issues, complete the pre-trip walkthrough together, take time-stamped photos of any existing scratches, and follow the dumping and refueling instructions. Pro tip: a campervan rental Willow Oak option typically carries the lowest deposit, leaving more budget for Polk County's springs, beaches, and Disney day trips.
