We had an amazing experience renting this camper van for the weekend! The van was clean, comfortable, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It easily carried all of our gear, including a cooler and fishing poles, with plenty of room to spare. It truly had all the comforts of home—and more. From the kitchen essentials to the camping accessories, everything was provided, making our trip easy and enjoyable. Mark, the owner, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly show us how to operate the van and explained all of its features and accessories before we left. His attention to detail and willingness to answer our questions made us feel confident and well prepared for our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better rental experience. If you’re looking for a well-equipped camper van and an owner who genuinely cares about his renters, we highly recommend renting from Mark. We would definitely rent from him again!

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in River Edge?

A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in River Edge. New Jersey does not require a commercial driver's license or special endorsement for recreational vehicles used for personal travel, so a standard Class D license covers Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers you would rent on RVezy. You must be 25 or older to book, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform when you reserve. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit. Once approved, your host will hand over the keys and walk you through everything at pickup.

What kind of protection comes with my RV rental?

Every RV rental in River Edge booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered from the moment you drive off. The protection plan helps cover damage to the vehicle during your trip, giving you real financial peace of mind. During checkout, you choose the coverage level that fits your trip, whether you want a lower deductible or a more basic plan. Hosts do not set this, so you stay in control. Combined with RVezy's customer support team available before, during, and after your trip, you can hit the road from Bergen County knowing help is one call away.

What if I need to cancel my River Edge RV rental?

Booking your River Edge RV trip is low-risk because RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. That means consistent, predictable rules no matter which listing you choose. There is a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel and receive a full refund, and additional protections apply for situations like host cancellations or major unexpected events. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel before your trip start date. You will see the full details on RVezy before you confirm payment, and the support team can walk you through your options if plans change. Book with confidence, then start mapping your route.

Can I bring my dog on a River Edge RV trip?

Absolutely. Pet-friendly RV rental in River Edge is easy to find on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see listings whose hosts welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Bergen County is a great launchpad for dog lovers: Saddle River County Park has paved paths perfect for leashed walks, and Campgaw Mountain Reservation in nearby Mahwah allows dogs on a 6-foot leash throughout its trails. Many local campgrounds and most New Jersey state park campgrounds also welcome leashed pets for a small nightly fee. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet deposit, breed notes, or shedding considerations so check-in is smooth and stress-free for everyone, including your pup.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or home in River Edge?

Yes, RV delivery in River Edge is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you are nervous about driving a big rig through Bergen County's tight streets. Many RVezy hosts offer delivery and full setup directly to your driveway, a nearby campground like Campgaw Mountain Reservation in Mahwah, or Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City. They will level the RV, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before leaving. Use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host to confirm the destination and any per-mile delivery fee. It is the stress-free option first-timers love.

Where can I camp with an RV near River Edge, NJ?

The best campgrounds near River Edge cover everything from urban skyline views to wooded mountain retreats. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City (about 17 miles south) offers full hookups, 30/50 amp service, and views of the Statue of Liberty, with the PATH train to Manhattan nearby. Campgaw Mountain Reservation in Mahwah (about 15 miles north) provides tent and basic sites in a wooded park by permit during the warmer months. For a longer escape, Worthington State Forest at the Delaware Water Gap (about 70 miles west) has riverside sites perfect for swimming and hiking. Harriman State Park in New York (about 30 miles north) is another favorite. Book early; summer weekends fill fast.

When is the best time to plan an RV trip from River Edge?

Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping in River Edge and the surrounding region. Spring (April-May) brings highs in the 60s and 70s with blooming trails at Campgaw Mountain. Summer (June-August) averages 80-88F, ideal for Jersey Shore trips, though humidity can climb. The crown jewel is fall: late September through mid-October delivers spectacular foliage in the Ramapo Mountains and Delaware Water Gap, with crisp days in the 60s. Winter rentals are possible for hardier travelers, but most New Jersey state park campgrounds and Campgaw close from December through March because of freezing water lines. Book a leaf-peeping weekend in early October at least two to three months in advance; that is prime time and demand surges.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

You will do great. First time renting an RV is something thousands of River Edge travelers tackle every season. On RVezy, your host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and tow connections. You can also message your host anytime during your trip with questions. For extra confidence, start with a Class B campervan or smaller Class C motorhome, both drive much like an oversized van. Stick to familiar highways like I-287 or the Garden State Parkway for your first leg, and avoid Manhattan and the Holland Tunnel entirely. Pick up your RV in the morning so you have plenty of daylight for the orientation and your drive to camp.

What happens if something goes wrong on the road?

You are never alone out there. Every RV rental in River Edge booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire, dead battery, lockout, or mechanical hiccup is just a phone call away. RVezy's customer support team is also available around the clock to help coordinate repairs, communicate with your host, or arrange alternatives. Your host is typically your first text in non-emergencies; they know the RV best and can troubleshoot quickly. Before leaving Bergen County, save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone, and snap a photo of the RV's roadside assistance card. Then hit the road relaxed.

Can I take my River Edge RV rental into Canada or other states?

Yes, you can cross state lines, and many River Edge travelers do exactly that. Popular interstate routes include heading north into New York's Adirondacks, west through Pennsylvania to the Poconos, or south to Virginia's Shenandoah National Park. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval and confirmation that insurance coverage extends; message the host directly from the listing before booking to confirm. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Bring your passport if Canada is on your itinerary, and let your host know your full route so they can flag any add-ons like extra mileage packages.

How much should I budget for fuel on a River Edge RV trip?

Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but budgeting is straightforward. Campervans (Class B) average 18-22 mpg, Class C motorhomes get around 10-14 mpg, and Class A motorhomes typically deliver 7-10 mpg. In New Jersey, attendants pump your fuel for you statewide; it is the law. For a 500-mile round trip in a Class C at $3.50 per gallon, expect roughly $150-$175 in fuel. Many River Edge rentals are diesel, which gets better mileage but costs more per gallon, and most service plazas along the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway accommodate larger rigs.

How far in advance should I book a campground near River Edge?

For the best campgrounds near River Edge, book as early as possible, ideally three to six months ahead for summer weekends and fall foliage dates. New Jersey state park campgrounds (like Worthington and Stokes State Forest) take reservations through camping.nj.gov, with sites starting around $20-$25 per night. Bergen County's Campgaw Mountain Reservation issues camping permits through the Bergen County Parks Department. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City fills up fast for summer; reserve directly through their site. If you strike out on weekends, try Sunday-Wednesday stays. Availability opens up, prices drop, and your favorite trails and lakes feel almost private.

What's it like driving an RV around the River Edge area?

River Edge sits in a dense part of Bergen County, but driving an RV out of the area is manageable once you know the playbook. Stick to Route 4, Route 17, I-80 west, and the Garden State Parkway, all RV-friendly with plenty of clearance and wide lanes. Avoid the George Washington Bridge upper level (low clearance), the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels (no propane allowed), and the Palisades Interstate Parkway (commercial vehicles, including most large RVs, are prohibited). Rush hour in northern NJ runs 7-9am and 4-7pm; leaving midmorning or after dinner makes a huge difference. Take I-287 north to escape the metro area quickly, you will be in the Ramapo Mountains in under 30 minutes.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds around River Edge?

Campgrounds near River Edge run the full spectrum, so there is something for every comfort level. Liberty Harbor RV Park offers full 30/50 amp hookups, water, a dump station, hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Most New Jersey state park campgrounds (Worthington, Stokes, Round Valley) provide vault toilets, drinking water spigots, picnic tables, and fire rings, with select sites offering electric hookups. Campgaw Mountain Reservation is more rustic, expect basic sites and Adirondack shelters without hookups. Dump stations are available at Liberty Harbor and most private RV parks across the region. Top off your fresh water and dump tanks before leaving the campground, since services within Bergen County itself are limited compared to rural state parks.

You will be impressed by how livable a modern motorhome rental in River Edge really is. Most listings include a full kitchen (stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, sink), an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with heat and air conditioning, fresh and gray water tanks, comfortable sleeping for 2-8 people depending on size, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many RVs come with a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and onboard generator for off-grid power. Wi-Fi varies; some hosts include a mobile hotspot, while others recommend bringing your own. Class B campervans are perfect for couples, while Class C motorhomes and travel trailers suit families. Check the listing's amenities list and message your host with any must-haves before booking.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment for your RV rental in River Edge is handled entirely through the RVezy platform, with no cash and no off-platform payment apps. You will pay with a credit or debit card when you book, and the funds are processed securely. A refundable security deposit is placed on your card before pickup; the amount varies by RV value but typically ranges from $500 to $1,500. As long as the RV is returned in the same condition, with a clean interior and full fuel and propane tanks (unless other arrangements are made), the deposit is released back to you shortly after your trip ends. Take dated photos of the RV at pickup and return for a smooth, dispute-free release.
