co.lancaster.pa.us/154/Central-ParkCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Lancaster?
Yes, and RV delivery Lancaster guests rave about is one of the easiest ways to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts in Lancaster County will drive the RV directly to popular campgrounds like Spring Gulch Resort, Lancaster/New Holland KOA, Flory's Cottages and Camping, or right to your driveway in Manheim, Lititz, or Ephrata. They level it, hook up water and electric, and walk you through everything from the awning to the propane stove. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which hosts deliver and how far they will go, fees usually depend on distance. It is the smartest move for anyone first time renting an RV who would rather skip towing or driving a big rig.

discoverlancaster.com/places-to-stay/campgrounds/When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Lancaster?
Lancaster shines from late April through October, and fall is the local favorite. Spring (April–May) brings 60–75°F days, blooming farmland, and shoulder-season pricing. Summer (June–August) is warm and humid with highs in the mid 80s, ideal for pool campgrounds like Spring Gulch. The real magic is September and October, when temperatures cool to the 60s and 70s, foliage explodes across the Amish Country, and harvest events like the Ephrata Fair fill the calendar. Winter (December–February) drops to the 20s–40s with occasional snow, but many campgrounds and hosts stay open for cozy heated-RV getaways. Book early for fall weekends, they sell out faster than any other season in Lancaster County.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Is Lancaster a good place to start?
Lancaster is honestly one of the best places in the country for first time renting an RV. The terrain is flat to gently rolling, the campgrounds are close (most within 20 minutes of downtown Lancaster), and traffic outside of Route 30 near the outlets is calm. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering the slide-outs, hookups, holding tanks, generator, and propane. You'll also get the host's phone number for the whole trip, so a quick text answers any question. Pro tip: book a travel trailer that the host delivers and sets up at a campground like Country Acres, you'll get the full RV experience without ever towing a thing.
visitpa.com/region/dutch-country-roadsWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Lancaster, PA on RVezy comes with 24/7 roadside assistance through the included protection plan, so if you get a flat on Route 222, a dead battery at the Sight & Sound Theatres parking lot, or a lockout at a campground in Lititz, one phone call gets help dispatched. For non-emergencies, your host is your first call, they know their RV best and can usually troubleshoot anything from a finicky water pump to a tripped breaker over the phone. RVezy customer support is also reachable before, during, and after your trip. Save both numbers in your phone at pickup and roll out worry-free.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Lancaster RV rental to other states or across the Canadian border?
Yes to interstate travel, and Lancaster's location makes it ideal. Most RVezy hosts welcome trips to nearby states like Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and West Virginia, all reachable within a few hours. Popular routes from Lancaster include Shenandoah National Park (about 3.5 hours), the Outer Banks (about 7 hours), and the Finger Lakes (about 4 hours). Travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and insurance, message before booking to confirm. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not covered or permitted on RVezy rentals. Always confirm your route with the host on the listing page so everyone is aligned before pickup.
nps.gov/shen/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on a Lancaster RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to predict. Class B campervans average 18–22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8–12 MPG, and Class A rigs run 6–9 MPG. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves, but your tow vehicle will drop 3–5 MPG when hitched. Pennsylvania gas prices typically sit slightly above the national average, hovering around $3.40–$3.80 per gallon in the Lancaster area, with diesel a bit higher. For a long weekend staying mostly at one campground in Lancaster County, budget $75–$150 in fuel. Heading to Gettysburg, Hershey, or Philly and back? Plan on $100–$200. Pro tip: fill up off Route 30 where prices run lower than the tourist corridor.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Lancaster?
For peak weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, and any fall foliage Saturday in September or October), book your campground 3–6 months out, Lancaster County draws huge weekend crowds from Philly, Baltimore, D.C., and New York. Private parks like Spring Gulch, Country Acres, and Lancaster/New Holland KOA reserve directly through their own websites. For Pennsylvania state parks with camping nearby like French Creek or Gifford Pinchot, reservations open 11 months in advance through the Pennsylvania DCNR reservation system. Weekdays and shoulder-season stays often have same-week availability. Pro tip: lock in your RVezy rental first, then book the campground the same day so the dates line up perfectly.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Pages/Reservations.aspxWhat are driving conditions like around Lancaster County?
Driving an RV around Lancaster is refreshingly easy compared to bigger metros. The roads are flat to gently rolling, and major routes like US-30, US-222, and PA-283 have wide lanes and clear signage. Two heads-ups: first, you'll share rural roads with Amish horse-and-buggies, especially on Route 340 through Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, so slow down on hills and blind curves. Second, several covered bridges in the county have height and weight restrictions (typically under 10 feet clearance), avoid them in any Class A or tall Class C. Stick to numbered highways and you'll be fine. Pro tip: download offline Google Maps before you go, cell service can dip on backcountry farm roads.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities and hookups can I expect at Lancaster campgrounds?
Lancaster County campgrounds are some of the best-equipped in the Northeast. Most offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), free Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, camp stores, and pools. Spring Gulch, Country Acres, Old Mill Stream, and Lancaster/New Holland KOA all welcome big rigs with pull-through sites. Dump stations are standard, and Red Run Resort even offers free pump-out (honey wagon) service twice a week. Drinking water spigots are easy to find at every park. If you're boondocking or visiting Amish farms via Harvest Hosts, plan to fill up your fresh tank before leaving the campground. Pro tip: ask your RVezy host for a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a sewer kit, most include them at no extra charge.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/WhatToDo/Camping/Pages/default.aspxWhat's actually inside a typical Lancaster RV rental?
More than you'd think. A typical motorhome rental Lancaster guests book, whether a Class C from Jayco or a travel trailer from Forest River, comes with a queen or king bed, bunk options, a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control (AC and furnace), and dinette seating that converts to a bed. Most include a TV, and many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor speakers, or a generator for off-grid power. Seatbelts are provided for every legal passenger, important if you're road-tripping with kids. Campervan rental Lancaster options trade space for nimbleness and great fuel economy. Filter by 'Sleeps' on RVezy to match the rig to your crew.
nhtsa.gov/equipment/recreational-vehiclesWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for a family RV trip in Lancaster?
You can fully customize a family RV trip Lancaster style. Common RVezy add-ons include bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, camping chairs and tables, bikes, kayaks, propane grills, generators, and Wi-Fi hotspots, each priced by the host. Pickup is usually at the host's home in towns like Lancaster, Lititz, Ephrata, Mount Joy, or Strasburg, but delivery to local campgrounds or your rental house is widely available. Most hosts offer a 30-minute walkthrough at pickup so you're not left guessing. Pro tip for families: add the bedding package and a bike rack, you'll save trunk space and let the kids ride the Lancaster County Heritage Pathway right from your campsite.
padutchcountry.com/things-to-do/outdoor-activities/biking/How does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Lancaster?
Payment is simple and secure: RVezy handles everything through the platform, no cash changes hands with the host. You pay the rental total upfront with a major credit card when you book. A refundable security deposit, set by each host, is placed on hold separately from your booking payment before your trip starts. Return the RV in the same condition, with the tanks handled per the host's instructions, and the hold is released after the trip. Avoid issues by doing a thorough video walkaround at pickup and dropoff. Click Book with confidence, your payment is protected by RVezy throughout the entire process.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Lancaster during the winter months?
Yes, winter RV camping Lancaster style is a quiet, beautiful experience. Several RVezy hosts list four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and strong propane furnaces, perfect for cozy December and January trips through the snowy Amish countryside. Campgrounds like Country Acres and Lancaster/New Holland KOA stay open with limited winter sites and shore power, and Pennsylvania state parks like Gifford Pinchot keep loops open year-round. Pack extra propane, a heated water hose, and a small space heater for shoulder-season nights when temps drop into the 20s. Pro tip: filter for 'Winter Ready' or message hosts directly to confirm cold-weather features, then enjoy Lancaster's lights, Christmas markets, and crowd-free roads.
