2022 East to West Travel Trailer
Diego was great!. Was my first time renting a traveling trailer and using the site. I was a little nervous to rent cause you dont know what will happen. I didnt calculate the correct size truck for the trailer. Diego was a problem solver and helped me solve my issue. He went out of his way to deliver the trailer to the campsite and pick it up when done. He did a lot more to accommodate the situation and went above and beyond to make this trip meaningful. I had two family members pass away last year, and extended family for the first time planned this camping trip together and it was very important we went and that I had a trailer for my family of 6. Diego made sure the trip went through and got the rental up there for us. Means a lot! I see why he is a super host and is just a great soul. Thanks Diego we will be renting from you again and again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Hyrum, UT

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Hyrum, UT?

RV rental in Hyrum is one of the best values in northern Utah. Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, campervans average $125 to $200, and larger Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $300 per night. Because Hyrum sits in Cache Valley away from major tourist hubs, prices tend to be lower than what you would pay in Salt Lake City or Park City. Many hosts discount weekly stays, and shoulder-season bookings in May or September can shave 15 to 25 percent off summer rates. Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Hyrum, Utah?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Hyrum for the vast majority of motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers on RVezy. Under Utah law, no commercial driver's license (CDL) is required as long as the RV's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) stays under 26,001 pounds, which covers nearly every Class B, Class C, and travel trailer on the platform. You will also need to meet RVezy's approved driver requirements, which generally means being 25 or older with a valid license verified during booking. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home-country license and you are set to roll into Cache Valley.

What happens if I need to cancel my Hyrum RV trip?

Booking your RV rental in Hyrum is low-risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. The full policy details are on the RVezy Help Center, so if life throws a curveball before your Bear Lake getaway, you have clear flexibility built in from the start.

Can I bring my dog on a Hyrum RV trip?

Yes, plenty of hosts welcome dogs, so finding a pet-friendly RV rental Hyrum is easy on RVezy: just flip on the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Hyrum is a great basecamp for four-legged adventures, with leashed dogs welcomed at Hyrum State Park's day-use and camping areas, plus dog-friendly trails like the Wind Caves Trail in nearby Logan Canyon. Many Cache Valley hosts even provide pet bowls, blankets, or yard space at pickup. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any breed or size notes, then pack a tether and waste bags for easy stops along Highway 89.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Hyrum?

Yes, RV delivery in Hyrum is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who would rather skip towing or driving a large rig. Many local hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer directly to Hyrum State Park's Lakeview Campground, your driveway in Cache Valley, or campgrounds further up Logan Canyon. They will level the rig, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees commonly run a few dollars per mile from the host's home base, so a setup at Hyrum Reservoir from a Logan-area host is typically very affordable. Use the Delivery filter to see options instantly.

How far can I drive on an RV rental from Hyrum?

Hyrum is a fantastic launchpad for an RV road trip, with iconic destinations within easy reach: Bear Lake's turquoise shoreline is just about 45 miles up Logan Canyon Scenic Byway (around 75 minutes), Yellowstone's west entrance is roughly 230 miles north, Grand Teton National Park sits about 200 miles northeast, and Salt Lake City is only 85 miles south. Pro tip: Hyrum State Park sites can be reserved up to 6 months ahead on ReserveAmerica, and lakefront spots vanish first for July weekends.

When is the best time of year for a Hyrum RV trip?

The sweet spot for a Hyrum RV trip is late May through mid-October, when daytime highs climb from the upper 60s into the mid-80s and Hyrum Reservoir is open for boating, swimming, and fishing. July and August are the warmest months, averaging around 83 F, perfect for lake days. September and early October bring spectacular fall foliage along Logan Canyon Scenic Byway and far fewer crowds. Winters are genuinely cold, with January highs near 29 F and snow common, but ice fishing at Hyrum Reservoir is a hidden gem for adventurous renters. Pro tip: book a campervan rental in Hyrum for late September to catch the aspens at peak gold.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay in Hyrum?

You've got this, and first time renting an RV in Hyrum is honestly one of the easiest places in Utah to start. Cache Valley's roads are wide, flat, and low-traffic compared to Salt Lake City, and Hyrum State Park is just minutes from town with a paved, easy-to-navigate campground loop. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, water systems, slide-outs, and dump procedures. You can message your host anytime during the trip with questions, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included. Pro tip: pick a Class C motorhome or campervan for your first trip, they drive much like a large van.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my Hyrum trip?

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking in Hyrum includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical issues. One quick call dispatches help, whether you're at Hyrum Reservoir, halfway up Logan Canyon, or out near Hardware Ranch. Your host is also a phone call or message away for quick troubleshooting on quirks specific to their rig. RVezy's support team is reachable before, during, and after your trip too. Pro tip: take a photo of the roadside assistance number from your booking confirmation and keep it in your phone before leaving the Hyrum area, where cell service can dip in canyons.

Can I take my RV from Hyrum into Idaho, Wyoming, or other states?

Yes, interstate travel is allowed and Hyrum's location makes it a dream basecamp for multi-state adventures. You can cruise up to Bear Lake (the north half sits in Idaho), continue into Wyoming for Grand Teton and Yellowstone, or head east to western Colorado. Just confirm cross-state travel with your host when booking, since some prefer a heads-up for mileage planning. Travel to Canada may be allowed with host approval and insurance confirmation, but travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: a Hyrum-to-Jackson Hole loop via Highway 89 is around 200 miles of pure scenery.

What should I budget for fuel on a Hyrum RV trip?

Fuel is one of the bigger trip costs, but it is predictable. Class B campervans in the Hyrum area average 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes get around 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A rigs sit closer to 6 to 9 MPG. Utah gas prices typically run near or slightly below the national average, with stations in Hyrum, Logan, and along Highway 89 being your most convenient fill-up spots. For a sample budget, a 300-mile round trip to Bear Lake and back in a Class C might burn roughly 30 gallons. Pro tip: top off in Logan before heading up Logan Canyon, as fuel options between Logan and Garden City are very limited.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Hyrum?

For summer weekends at Hyrum State Park, book as early as possible: reservations open 6 months in advance through ReserveAmerica or by calling 800-322-3770, and the 10 partial-hookup sites with 30-amp electric snap up fastest. Weekdays and shoulder-season (May, September, October) often have availability just a week or two out. For Forest Service campgrounds in Logan Canyon like Tony Grove or Guinavah-Malibu, use Recreation.gov on the same 6-month rolling window. Pro tip: if Hyrum State Park is full, set a cancellation alert and check Friday mornings, last-minute openings pop up regularly thanks to the park's 4-day cancellation policy.

What are the driving conditions like around Hyrum?

Driving an RV in Hyrum is refreshingly mellow. The town sits in flat, open Cache Valley with wide rural roads, and the route from Hyrum to Logan or to I-15 is easy even in a 30-foot motorhome. The one stretch to plan for is Logan Canyon Scenic Byway (US-89) toward Bear Lake, which climbs to a 7,800-foot summit with narrow curves and switchbacks, take it slow and use lower gears on the descent. Watch for moose, elk, and deer crossings, especially at dawn and dusk. In winter, expect snowpack and possible chain requirements in the canyon. Pro tip: avoid Logan Canyon driving after dark in your first RV trip.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Hyrum?

Campgrounds near Hyrum offer a great range of amenities. Hyrum State Park has hot showers, flush restrooms (winterized off-season), a dump station, potable water fill-up, fish-cleaning station, and 30-amp electric at 10 of its 32 sites. Logan Canyon Forest Service campgrounds tend to be more rustic, vault toilets and no hookups, but offer killer scenery. Private RV parks in nearby Logan provide full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp), Wi-Fi, and laundry. Free dump stations are available at Hyrum State Park and at most Logan-area RV parks for a small fee. Pro tip: fill freshwater tanks before heading into Logan Canyon, where potable water fill-ups are limited.

What's included inside a typical Hyrum RV rental?

Most motorhome rental Hyrum listings come fully equipped for a turnkey trip. Expect a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa for extra sleepers, propane stove and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, bathroom with toilet and shower, roof air conditioning, furnace, and seatbelted seating for everyone traveling. Many hosts also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, leveling blocks, and a starter kit with hoses and adapters. Wi-Fi and onboard generators are common in Class C rigs but vary, so check the listing. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and scan the amenities list for generator and heated tanks, especially handy for chilly Cache Valley nights when temps can drop into the 40s even in July.

What add-ons can I get with my Hyrum RV rental?

RVezy hosts in the Hyrum area offer plenty of useful add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include unlimited mileage packages ($50 to $150 flat), generator hours, bike racks, kayak or paddleboard rentals (perfect for Hyrum Reservoir), camping chair and table kits, fishing gear, linens and towel packages, and pet packages. Delivery and setup is one of the most popular add-ons, often $2 to $5 per mile. Pickup is typically at the host's home in Hyrum, Logan, or Smithfield, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough on arrival. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a kayak add-on to skip the hitching learning curve and float Hyrum Reservoir within an hour of arrival.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book your RV rental in Hyrum, you pay the full rental amount through RVezy's platform, never directly to the host, which keeps your money protected. A refundable security deposit is held separately before the trip starts, with the amount set by the host and shown at checkout, and it is released after the host confirms the RV was returned in good condition. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos at pickup and return, refill fuel and propane to the agreed level, and empty the holding tanks if your rental agreement requires it. Pro tip: review the listing's mileage and generator allowances upfront so there are no surprise overage fees when you head home from Hyrum.

Are winter RV rentals available in Hyrum?

Yes, winter RV rentals in Hyrum are an option and can be magical. Hyrum State Park stays open year-round, with ice fishing on the reservoir typically running December through February, and Beaver Mountain Ski Resort is roughly 40 miles up Logan Canyon. Look for listings tagged with four-season features: heated holding tanks, enclosed underbelly, a propane furnace, and shore-power capability for plugging in at a heated full-hookup site. Daytime highs average around 28 to 40 F December through February, with frequent snow. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm the rig is set up for active winter use, and ask about tire chains, which are smart to carry for Logan Canyon in winter.
